Roger Waters: “It was the Greatest Show On Earth … And when they found our shadows grouped ’round the TV sets … This species has AMUSED ITSELF TO DEATH”

Amused to Death
Roger Waters

[…]

We watched the tragedy unfold
We did as we were told

We bought and sold
It was the greatest show on earth
But then it was over
We ohhed and aahed
We drove our racing cars
We ate our last few jars of caviar

And somewhere out there in the stars
A keen-eyed look-out
Spied a flickering light
Our last hurrah
Our last hurrah

And when they found our shadows
Grouped ’round the TV sets

They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data on their lists
And then, the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the only explanation left

This species has amused itself to death

No tears to cry, no feelings left
This species has amused itself to death

Nights in White Satin epilogue, Late Lament: spoken by Graeme Edge of the Moody Blues in their amazing 1967 album, Days of Future Passed

Breath deep
The gathering gloom
Watch lights fade
From every room
Bedsitter people
Look back and lament
Another day’s useless
Energy spent

Cold hearted orb
That rules the night
Removes the colours
From our sight
Red is gray and
Yellow white
But we decide
Which is right
And
Which is an Illusion

Ron Paul: Bernanke Skips Congressional Hearings to Meet with International Banksters in Switzerland

From: Infowars

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETx6wW1C04g]

Texas Congressman Ron Paul has slammed Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke for his decision to skip Congressional Financial Services hearings in favor of secretive meetings with European central bankers.

The hearings, which took place yesterday, incorporated discussions on the TARP funds, the additional $350 billion being requested by the Treasury from Congress.

“At the very last minute, the chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, Bernanke has cancelled, as well as Sheila Bear, who is the chairwoman of the FDIC, she will not show up either.” Paul told viewers of his video blog on the Campaign for Liberty website.

“But here I find out that they have a much more important meeting,” the Congressman added with a degree of irony.

“They are going to Basel Switzerland to attend the meeting at the Bank of International Settlements, with other international bankers.” Paul explained.

The meetings in Basel, chaired by the European Central Bank president Jean-Claude Trichet, have been ongoing this week, yet very little details over what has been discussed have emerged in the media.

“But here it is, an emergency meeting for them to run off to Europe and talk about monetary policy and who knows what. One thing for sure is that the people will never hear. As a matter of fact the people in the Congress won’t hear either.” Paul asserted.

“Who knows what they are planning?” The Congressman said. “I will do my darndest to find out what really went on at these meetings that they are holding over in Switzerland right now with all the central bankers.”

“All we do know is that at the very last minute Congress meant nothing to them for them to meet their commitment.” Paul added, pointing out that the pair also skipped meetings with the Financial Services Committee last Wednesday.

The Congressman explained that there is now an ongoing debate, over what should be done with the remaining bailout money, that has completely overshadowed the core issue of why the taxpayer is being asked to give up the money in the first instance.

Dr. Stan Interviews Robert Wilcox, “Target: Patton—The Plot to Assassinate General George S. Patton”

I’ve been hoping for this. Dr. Stanley Monteith is a war historian, par excellence, who sleuths out the story behind the story, and gets to the bottom of this very telling event with passionate, investigative author, Robert Wilcox in this one-hour interview.

Knowing the answer, Dr. Stan asks Robert why this book isn’t getting more national exposure.

Fascinating!

Rudyard Kipling: “If”

Rudyard Kipling
1910

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream — and not make dreams your master;
If you can think — and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings — nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run —
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And — which is more — you’ll be a Man, my son!

Chief Economist: It’s A Depression

From: Prison Planet

Professor Peter Morici, a former chief economist at the U.S. International Trade Commission, has become one of the first senior economists to admit that the U.S. is facing a 1930’s style depression.

Noting that 2.6 million payroll jobs have been lost since December 2007, Morici told financial publication Kiplinger that a 5 per cent contraction in the fourth quarter made the crisis “worse than a recession”.

“The economy will not recover without fundamental changes in banking and trade policy,” said Morici, an economics professor at Maryland University, “A large stimulus package, though necessary, will only give the economy a temporary lift,” he added. “The economy is in a depression, not a recession.”

A trickle of prominent analysts are now saying what people like Alex Jones and Peter Schiff were being called doomsayers for predicting over a year ago, that the U.S. faces a crisis on the scale of the 1930’s if not worse.

Morici’s summation dovetails the analysis of renowned financial publication The Economist, which reported earlier this month that, based on the characteristics of the current financial crisis, the U.S. is in a depression, not a recession.

On December 23rd, the IMF’s top economist, Olivier Blanchard, warned that falling confidence could turn a recession into a depression if market sentiment continued to dwindle.

Cheney: Bush Doesn’t Need to Apologize

From: Fox News, Cheney Says Nobody Saw Economic Crisis Coming, 1/8/09

Vice President Dick Cheney said Thursday that he sees no reason for President George W. Bush to pre-emptively pardon anyone at the CIA involved in harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists. “I don’t have any reason to believe that anybody in the agency did anything illegal,” he said.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Cheney also said that Bush has no need to apologize for not foreseeing the economic crisis.

I don’t think he needs to apologize. I think what he needed to do is take bold, aggressive action and he has,” Cheney said.

“I don’t think anybody saw it coming,” he said.

From: Think Progress, Cheney: No One Could Have Predicted The Financial Crisis, Just As No One Foresaw 9/11, 1/9/09

Oddly enough, in today’s White House press briefing, Deputy Press Secretary Scott Stanzel insisted that the Bush administration “saw those [financial] problems on the horizon,” but it was Congress’s fault for taking “a long time…to act.”

In reality, many economic experts — such as Nouriel Roubini, Dean Baker, and Paul Krugman — did predict the economic crisis; the Bush administration just wasn’t listening to them. In reality, administration officials often turned a “blind eye to the impending crisis.”

From: Huffington Post, Bush Administration Weakened Lending Rules Before Crash

The Bush administration backed off proposed crackdowns on no-money-down, interest-only mortgages years before the economy collapsed, buckling to pressure from some of the same banks that have now failed. It ignored remarkably prescient warnings that foretold the financial meltdown, according to an Associated Press review of regulatory documents.

Kucinich: The Problem and the Solution — “The Federal Reserve is No More Federal Than Federal Express … Take That Power Back”

[youtube=http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AR2EtMteHCg]

“The banks have shown that they can’t be trusted with the American economy. That’s generally been the case, but now it’s out in the open, 350 billion dollars later.

In 1913, the money power of the country was taken away from the people —  by Constitutional privilege it belongs with the Congress — but it was given up in the Federal Reserve Act.

The Federal Reserve is no more federal than Federal Express, but yet it has the power to determine the direction and use of money in our economy. If we could take that power back and put the Federal Reserve under Treasury, we start to be in a position of being able to control monetary policy on behalf of the United States people.

We also have to address the issue of the fractional reserve system, which is how banks create money out of thin air. And then, as they do that, they’ve created the conditions where we’ve had this kind of ponzi scheme collapsing — banks and the hedge funds working together.

So we have to halt the banks’ privilege to create money by ending the fractional reserve system. Past monetized credit would be converted into U.S. government money, and banks would act as intermediaries, accepting deposits and loaning them out to borrowers.”

Chlorella: A Perfect Super Food

From: Defy Age Naturally

Chlorella is one of Nature’s perfect foods. NASA has chosen chlorella to be one of the first foods grown on the space station, and chlorella is the number one supplement taken for vibrant health in Japan. It is estimated that 5 million people take chlorella every day. This freshwater green algae has been widely studied more than any other algae, and researchers agree that it is one of the most powerful super foods we can nourish our bodies with.

Chlorella is a rich source of protein and contains all essential amino acids. It is high in the antioxidant beta carotene and has one of the greatest concentrations of the life giving phytonutrient chlorophyll. But one of the most amazing miracles of chlorella is that it binds to toxins but not to nutrients making it a powerful and intelligent detoxifier. No matter how well we eat and how much we exercise, we cannot escape the toxins that pervade our world. …

Chlorophyll boosts the immune system. It promotes T-cell activity, thereby enhancing the immune system to more effectively fight off bacteria and viruses. …

Chlorella is considered one of nature’s beauty foods because it cleanses the liver, the intestines and the blood, which are all vital for gorgeous skin. It also defends against aging and disease causing free radicals.

Chlorophyll is also known to promote optimal blood pressure and to support the growth and repair of your tissues.

Value of 2008 Bailouts Exceeds Combined Costs of All Major U.S. Wars in Inflation-adjusted 2008 Dollars

From: CNS News

The total value of the bailouts undertaken by the federal government in 2008 now exceeds the combined cost of every major war the United States has ever engaged in, according to a comparison of war costs calculated by the Congressional Research Service (CRS) and the value of the bailouts as calculated by Bloomberg News or Bianco Research.According to CRS, all major U.S. wars (including such events as the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War, the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, but not the invasion of Panama or the Kosovo War), cost a total of $7.2 trillion in inflation-adjusted 2008 dollars.

According to Bloomberg, the federal government has made commitments worth a total of $8.5 trillion in the bailouts of 2008. That includes actual expenditures as well as loan and asset guarantees.

Bianco Research puts the total value of the bailouts at $8.7 trillion.

The $296 billion spent on World War II, America’s most expensive war, would be $4.1 trillion adjusted to today’s dollars, according to the CRS report from June.

The adjusted cost of the Civil War would be $60.4 billion for both the Union and the Confederacy combined. The inflation-adjusted cost of the Vietnam War would be $686 billion. The cost of the current Iraq war up to last June was $648 billion, while the adjusted cost for Afghanistan to that point was $171 billion.

David Icke: The Mind-Game Called Operation Obama

From: David Icke, Barack Obama: The Naked Emperor

obama4

I am writing this in the last days of 2008 as I watch with dismay as vast numbers of people across the world, including many who should know better, have been duped by the mind-game called Operation Obama.

Even people with some understanding of the conspiracy have said things like: ‘Well, at least he’s not Bush’ and ‘Well, at least it’s great to see such a new spirit of hope’. No, he’s not Bush – he’s potentially far more dangerous; and what is the use of a spirit of ‘hope’ if it’s based on a lie? In fact, what use is ‘hope’ at all? […]

Hope is like riding a carousel horse; no matter how fast you go you never get closer to the one in front. The idea, however, is to persuade you to stay on the horse, despite the evitable disappointment, in the ‘hope’ that things will change. But they don’t because the very system is designed to prevent it. […]

See the video How Obama Got Elected to see how easy it is to manipulate the masses. It’s child’s play. Click here …

There is no more powerful way of manipulating people than to tell them what they want to hear and to keep shtum [silent] about anything they wouldn’t like. […]

When I was a journalist 30 years ago, I came across a technique that some tabloid newspaper reporters would use to get someone to speak with them. They would work in pairs with the first one knocking on the door of some distressed family who didn’t want to talk with the media. He would tell them he was from a newspaper he didn’t really work for and treat them with aggression and contempt to make them even more upset.

He would then leave and his colleague would knock on the door, tell them the real newspaper he was from, and act like Mr. Nice Guy. He would say that he understood completely how upsetting the other man must have been, but ‘if you will only speak to me exclusively I will make sure that the other man, nor anyone like him, won’t bother you again’. They usually agreed and the scam was complete.

Much the same thing is happening with regard to Bush and Obama. The Neoconservative ‘Republican’ wing of the Illuminati controlled Bush for eight years and led the country into foreign wars and financial chaos (bad guy/problem); now the ‘Democratic’ wing, led by the infamous Zbigniew Brzezinski, has brought forth the ‘saviour’, Barack Obama, to lead us into the sunshine with ‘hope’ and ‘change’ (good guy/solution). UK: Photographers criminalized as police abuse anti-terror laws — Fury as stop-and-search powers are used to block and confiscate legal pictures

From: The Independent

The artist Reuben Powell was arrested and imprisoned for photographing an old government building

Reuben Powell is an unlikely terrorist. A white, middle-aged, middle-class artist, he has been photographing and drawing life around the capital’s Elephant & Castle for 25 years.

With a studio near the 1960s shopping centre at the heart of this area in south London, he is a familiar figure and is regularly seen snapping and sketching the people and buildings around his home – currently the site of Europe’s largest regeneration project. But to the police officers who arrested him last week his photographing of the old HMSO print works close to the local police station posed an unacceptable security risk.

“The car skidded to a halt like something out of Starsky & Hutch and this officer jumped out very dramatically and said ‘what are you doing?’ I told him I was photographing the building and he said he was going to search me under the Anti-Terrorism Act,” he recalled.

For Powell, this brush with the law resulted in five hours in a cell after police seized the lock-blade knife he uses to sharpen his pencils. His release only came after the intervention of the local MP, Simon Hughes, but not before he was handcuffed and his genetic material stored permanently on the DNA database.

But Powell’s experience is far from uncommon. Every week photographers wielding their cameras in public find themselves on the receiving end of warnings either by police, who stop them under Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000, or from over-eager officials who believe that photography in a public area is somehow against the law.

Kucinich: “U.S. Weapons Being Illegally Used to Kill Children”

From: Minnesota Independent

Yesterday, Rep. Dennis Kucinich sent a letter to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice arguing that Israel is in violation of the Arms Export Control Act of 1976 (AECA), which says U.S. military exports may not be used to escalate violence. In a statement on his Web site, Kucinich says, the “disproportionate and collective punishment nature of the attacks on Gaza assure an escalation of conflict in violation of the AECA.”

The Ohio Democrat took up the issue again in a floor speech this morning….

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, floor speech on Gaza conflict, Jan. 7, 2009, 1:52[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy-60zSKiGE]

Text of Kucinich floor speech:

“We cannot truly celebrate a New Year, a new Congress and a new administration if all we see is the same old destruction in the Middle East with U.S. weapons being illegally used to kill children.

I oppose Hamas’ rocket attacks on Israel. The rocket attacks, even to try to end the blockade, have no moral justification, are illegal and must stop.

But how can Israel claim self-defense when it bombs Gaza which has no army, no air force, no navy and has been under a constant blockade? How can Israel claim self-defense when its bombs destroy UN schools, killing children?

The children of Palestinians and the children of Israel both deserve life. But the lives of the children of Gaza are cynically discounted as “human shields.” Massacres are being rationalized. Israel’s “moral high ground” in Gaza, a growing pile of small bones in a graveyard.

The Administration knows Israel is using U.S. weapons, paid for by U.S. taxpayers, with disproportionate force creating a collective punishment of Gazans, assuring an escalation of conflict, clear violations of the Arms Export Control Act.

Israel was given U.S. weapons on condition they would not be used for aggression or escalation. The outgoing Administration must finally stand for the rule of law, not the rule of force.”

L.A. Marzulli: Evidence that Abductions Can Be Stopped by Reciting the Name of Jesus has been Hushed Up

I have never encountered this, but would probably pray in tongues directly at them — see links, below.

– –

From: Coast to Coast AM RECAP, Wednesday January 7th, 2009

UFO Contacts

Author L.A. Marzulli discussed his research exploring UFO phenomena and contacts with entities, which he’s chronicled in his new eBook The Alien Interviews. Most skeptics ignore data from alien abduction cases, Dr. David Jacobs told Marzulli, who cited a case where a woman was abducted in front of nine other people, and had signs of radiation sickness upon her return. Joe Jordan of the CE4 Research Group has engendered controversy in the UFO community. He claimed his evidence that abductions can be stopped by reciting the name of Jesus, has been hushed up, said Marzulli.

……………………………

From: Marzulli’s October 27, 2008 blog

I see everything through the lens of Biblical scripture and prophecy. I have a Christian world view. I realize that for some, this is unpopular. It is often misunderstood as being religious, or narrow-minded. I would submit that this view has real answers to the UFO enigma. Here’s an example. When Joe Jordan, a Christian, had a dozen or so people come on stage, at this years Roswell UFO convention, he blew much of his audience away. The reason for this is that these people were able to say that they had stopped their abduction experiences by calling out the name of Jesus. Or saying, The blood of Jesus.”

Added to that is the testimony of a retired missionary who went on the record in our news magazine, as he shared about his victory over what was the Mothman apparitions in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. He evoked the name of Jesus and said, “The Blood of Jesus,” and the entity, which he described as the embodiment of, “wickedness,” vanished.

………………………………

From: Marzulli’s October 29, 2008 blog

The Bible is actually a manual for dealing with the things of the spirit. In fact, we are told that the natural man – one who is not, ‘born again’, cannot possibly understand the things of the spirit. I know that our weapons are not carnal and we fight unseen principalities and rulers, of darkness. The good news is that we have authority, in the name of Jesus. By His blood we have the victory. I remember when I interviewed Lawrence Gray, he was the Missionary that the ‘Mothman,’ appeared to, one night, in his bedroom. He was paralyzed with fear– and who wouldn’t be – but then he began to say to himself, “The Blood of Jesus.” It’s not that those words are some sort of magical formula. They’re not, but in the hands of a believer, who knows that he, or she, has been saved, by the blood shed on Calvary, those words become lethal weapons! That confession of believing on Him who was sent, opens the doorway to eternal life.

Lack of Forgiveness Can Affect Our Health

From: Natural News

Everyone knows that being angry feels terrible. When we feel angry at someone, we get a tight feeling in our chest and body, and our minds aren’t free. Feeling angry at someone who cuts you off when you are driving is bad enough. Long term, chronic anger can ruin peoples’ lives. Feeling angry for something that happened in childhood can literally make people prisoners of their own emotions.

Dr. Luskin of Stanford University is studying how forgiveness can help people become healthy. The 150 volunteers who have taken part in the Stanford Forgiveness Project say that letting go of the hurt caused by other people or by forces they see as being outside themselves, is not just one of the greatest emotional releases; they feel better physically, as well.

“Getting angry and needing to forgive are universal phenomena, but the skills to forgive are inadequately taught.” …

Physically the body is in a state of stress. Muscles tighten, causing imbalances or pain in the neck, back and limbs. Blood flow to the joints is restricted, making it more difficult for the blood to remove wastes from the tissues and reducing the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the cells. Normal processes of repair and recovery from injury or arthritis are impaired. Clenching of the jaws contributes to problems with teeth and jaw joints. Headaches can become a problem. Chronic pain may get worse.

Blood flow to the heart is constricted. Digestion is impaired. Breathing may become more difficult. Anger can seriously impair the immune system….

Additionally, Dr. Luskin says, when the body releases certain enzymes during anger and stress, cholesterol and blood pressure levels go up, not a good long-term position to put the body in. Forgiveness has been shown to lower blood pressure naturally.

Anchorage energy use hits all-time high

From: Anchorage Daily News

Anchorage residents are burning through record levels of energy to keep their homes and businesses warm and lit during the long cold snap.

Cook Inlet natural gas supplies most of our energy needs, and on Saturday we used more of it than ever before.

Total gas flow to area customers that day totaled 234 million cubic feet, said Curtis Thayer, spokesman for local utility Enstar Natural Gas Co. The previous record was 227 million cubic feet set on Jan. 9, 2007.

All that gas consumption is going to cost local consumers — maybe more than you realize.

Beginning this month, Enstar bills are increasing by about 22 percent. For the average house, it means an extra $27 per month over the coming year, Thayer said.

…business and energy journalist Jim Norman argued that the United States manipulates the price of oil as a kind of economic weapon against countries such as Russia and China.

In the futures exchange, an unlimited amount of money was used to overwhelm sellers of crude oil, as a way of running up the price, he explained.

China is hurt by high oil prices much more than the United States, and has experienced reduced exports, the closing of factories, and massive unreported unemployment, he noted.

The opposite technique, the lowering of oil prices, is currently wrecking the Russian economy, Norman suggested. Russia has little besides its natural resources, and the softening of the crude market could eventually force regime change there, he said.

The real reason we went to war with Iraq was because of China, Norman asserted. As sanctions were lifting in 2003, Saddam was going to cut a deal with China so they could acquire ownership of underground oil fields, and the US sought to prevent this, he said.

While the US is propping up India as a foil to China, Russia is now moving in a direction of realigning with China, against the US and the West, he added.

Jesse Colin Young: “Come on People Now, Smile on Your Brother; Everybody GET TOGETHER, Try to LOVE ONE ANOTHER, Right Now”

Jesse Colin Young’s Ridgetop thrilled me each time I would hear it during my KQRS-listening high school/college days, the 70’s.

Last week, I was greatly blessed to hear spiritual depth in some of his recently recorded Christmas music on Pandora. Then I found this! Jesse is still a peacemaker!!!

IN THIS VIDEO,

Jesse Colin Young plays and talks about Get Together, and his new song, Bring ‘Em Home. His wife, Connie, plays violin.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4GjhuzMNEY]In this short, Get Together interview, Jesse says,
“It’s about love.”

And conversely,
it’s been too much about fear:

Love is but a song to sing
Fear‘s
the way we die

You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry

Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now

You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand
Just
one key unlocks them both
Its there at your command

Loving everyone perfectly is the key to lock out fear, because only “perfect love casts out fear.” We have to turn the key all the way to the right! Then our hands will no longer tremble.

America heard this truth in the ’60s. May we realize it 40 years later. Let’s make the mountains ring!
