US: Now we know how the banks are obtaining the money to re-pay TARP. They are not getting it from operating surplus or stock sales. They are selling warrants, which are contracts that give buyers the future right to buy stock at a stated price – in this case, a price that seems low in terms of past prices but high in terms of continuing losses. Warrants are derivatives, and those who purchase them are gambling, not investing. It is not unreasonable to wonder if whoever is buying them might be privately assured that they will be bailed out by the government and the Federal Reserve if their gamble should sour. US: Supreme Court to hear crucial gun-rights case. The Court previously ruled that the 2nd Amendment guarantees citizens in Washington DC (which is federal property) to have personal firearms. Now the same question will be decided for citizens outside DC. Those who wrote the Constitution intended this right for citizens in all the states, but the collectivists who now control the government have different views. We will watch this carefully and report result.

Colorado State University imposes gun ban, but County Sheriff James Alderden refuses to enforce it, will not book anyone into his jail for not complying, and will testify on their behalf in court. He says a gun ban would prevent students and teachers from defending themselves and make them easy targets for armed criminals who would ignore the ban.
