Many are looking at distant photos of the Vegas venue and Sutherland church and don’t see holes. These images show why.
AR-15 cartridges are larger (holding the powder), but 5.56mm/.223 caliber bullets and bullet holes are tiny, less than 1/4 inch in diameter.

A standard, hexagonal, “#2 pencil” is cut to a hexagonal height of 14-inch (6 mm), but the outer diameter is slightly larger (about 932-inch (7 mm)). (source)
