Field thinks the airlines got rid of the previous generation airplanes not because they weren’t as fuel efficient, but because the fly-by-wire planes can be turned into drones, electronically hijacked as may have happened on 9/11.
Hundreds of perfectly good airplanes, some of which I worked, are mothballed, cooking under the California and Arizona sun.
