Video: Bear sprints past cargo planes inside Anchorage International Airport

I used to work a few hundred yards from here.
At the very end of this short video, UPS freighter tails can be seen. Our NW Airlines cargo facility, where we did all the transloads, used to be between UPS and the trees showing behind the tails.

Video: Bear sprints past parked planes at Anchorage’s airport

At first, James Batman thought a black, furry dog had sprinted by him at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, near where FedEx parks its cargo planes.

“Then I looked back again and saw it had no tail….

The bear had gotten into the area by burrowing under a nearby fence, said Trudy Wassel, division operations manager at airport. Airport staff had since repaired the area.

Wassel said the airport has two, full-time wildlife biologists to handle wildlife issues.

“We take it very seriously,” she said.

The airport borders Point Woronzof and Kincaid Park, areas where it’s not uncommon to see black bears, said Ken Marsh, a spokesman at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

DNA tests show 3 brown bears killed in Eagle River were not responsible for fatal mauling — Alaska Fish & Game's difficult situation

From: ADN
July 19, 2018

DNA tests have revealed that the three brown bears shot and killed in the South Fork Eagle River Valley last week were not responsible for the two maulings in the area in June that left one man dead and another injured, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. …

Fish and Game killed a brown bear sow and two cubs in the area on Friday. The agency compared DNA samples from the animals to DNA analysis taken from the scene of the two maulings. There was not a match.

Discipline, Mummy Bear-style: Cub given roar of disapproval…. before finally getting a hug

Similar to what James Dobson teaches in how to spank a child until rebellion is broken, and then show tender love:

From: Daily Mail

Quite what the little chap had done to incur his mother’s wrath remains a mystery.

But the chances are that he won’t do it again.

This astonishing series of pictures illustrates how, in the world of the brown bear, there are no agonised disputes over corporal punishment of children.

First, the mother glares angrily at her son as he stands a few feet away looking guilty and sheepish.

Within seconds he is backed into a corner with a terrified expression as she roars her disapproval.

Shortly afterwards he finds himself  airborne after she seizes him by the scruff of the neck and propels him from side to side.

However, the fierce encounter at Simferopol Zoo in the Ukraine comes to a peaceful conclusion when Mummy, who weighs the best part of 550lb, gently hugs him to her chest to reassure him that all is forgiven.

(vid) Virginia Woman Killed In Horrible Mauling Attack By Her Own Pit Bull Dogs

UPDATE:

The dogs recently allegedly “were a little bit neglected,” said Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Blackwood. “She left the dogs with her father, her father was not taking care of the dogs, it wasn’t his responsibility, and she would come home maybe five times to the father’s house a week on average and take the dogs out, and so they became more isolated where the only contact they had was with each other, and it was less and less human contact.”

“I’m not saying that the family was neglectful,” Blackwood said. “They were kept outside, and they previously had been inside dogs” who “became a little distant from their owner towards the end.” (source)

…the medical examiner said Stephens was on her “menstrual period,”…. (Deputies watched dogs ‘eating rib cage’ of Virginia woman, 22, during mauling, sheriff says)

Agnew refuted rumors that the pit bulls had been used for fighting and said that while rare, such attacks on owners weren’t unheard of.

‘I don’t want to disparage any particular breed but if you do the research you will find that many of them are perpetuated by pit bulls.’ …

Of particular note, Sergeant Mike Blackwood revealed the dogs, which had lived inside with Stephens, had been a ‘little bit neglected towards the end of this’ after the 22-year-old left the dogs with her father who wasn’t taking care of them.

Stephens would come home five times a week to see the dogs, which had been moved outside to a kennel and became increasingly isolated. It wasn’t immediately understood to what degree the dogs had been left unattended to and possibly undernourished and how that may in the end led to Bethany’s ‘primal’ dogs turning on her. (source)

WATCH This Solar Electric Facility VAPORIZE Birds And Bats

And wind generators are killing millions!

WATCH This Solar Electric Facility VAPORIZE Birds And Bats

This $2.2 Billion, Federally-backed solar plant is not delivering as promised using more that 170,000 mirrors, but it does zap the living daylights out of things!

This footage was recently released by the United States Geological Survey. Birds and bats should beware!

The United State Geological Survey made the following claim: “Fewer than 15 birds were being observed impacted by the solar flux in more than 700 hours of video.” They go on to say, “We are uncertain of the origin of dark trails following the birds.”

That is kinda scary, don’t you think?

There are a number of details that are not mentioned in their statement, such as: When did the solar flux happen, day or night? Was some of the imaging thermal or infrared? What percentage of the 700 hours of footage used multiple cameras?

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the plant may be force to shut down for failing to produce the energy that it is contractually required to deliver to PG&E Corporation. State regulators will need to intervene to keep the plant operating normally.

The electric generating system uses its 170,000 ground-mounted mirrors to reflect sunlight to tower that are 450-feet hight. Boilers atop the towers create steam that is used to generate electricity.

In truth, the project has killed thousands of birds, angering environmentalists. The project was funded with $1.5 billion in Federal Loans, so people are paying attention. …

WIND TURBINES SLAUGHTER MILLIONS of birds and bats annually — Blade tips move up to 180 mph!

From: savetheeaglesinternational.org

Wind turbines are actually slaughtering millions of birds and bats annually

The Obama administration is issuing 30-year permits for “taking” (killing) bald and golden eagles. The great birds will be legally slaughtered “unintentionally” by lethal wind turbines installed in their breeding territories, and in “dispersion areas” where their young congregate (e.g. Altamont Pass).

By chance (if you believe in coincidences), a timely government study claims wind farms will kill “only” 1.4 million birds yearly by 2030. This new report is just one of many, financed with taxpayers’ money, aimed at convincing the public that additional mortality caused by wind plants is sustainable. – It is not.

Dr. Shawn Smallwood’s 2004 study, spanning four years, estimated that California’s Altamont Pass wind “farm” killed an average of 116 Golden Eagles annually. This adds up to 2,900 dead “goldies” since it was built 25 years ago. Altamont is the biggest sinkhole for the species, but not the only one, and industry-financed research claiming that California’s GE population is stable is but a white-wash.

Eagles are not the only victims. Smallwood also estimated that Altamont killed an average of 300 red-tailed hawks, 333 American kestrels and 380 burrowing owls annually – plus even more non-raptors, including 2,526 rock doves and 2,557 western meadowlarks.

In 2012, breaking the European omerta on wind farm mortality, the Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO/Birdlife) reviewed actual carcass counts from 136 monitoring studies. They concluded that Spain’s 18,000 wind turbines are killing 6-18 million birds and bats yearly.

Extrapolating that and similar (little publicized) German and Swedish studies, 39,000 U.S. wind turbines would not be killing “only” 440,000 birds (USFWS, 2009) or “just” 573,000 birds and 888,000 bats (Smallwood, 2013), but 13-39 million birds and bats every year!

However, this carnage is being covered up by self-serving and/or politically motivated government agencies, wind industry lobbyists, environmental groups and ornithologists, under a pile of misleading studies paid for with more taxpayer money. …

Nevertheless, news has leaked that eagles are being hacked to death all across America. This is hardly surprising, as raptors are attracted to wind turbines. They perch on them to rest or scan for prey. They come because turbines are often built in habitats that have abundant food (live or carrion) and good winds for gliding.

Save the Eagles International (STEI) has posted photographs of raptors perched on nacelles or nonmoving blades , and ospreys building a nest on a decommissioned turbine. Moving blades don’t deter them either: videos show a turkey vulture perched on the hub of a spinning turbine, and a griffon vulture being struck. Birds perceive areas traveled by spinning blades as open space, unaware that blade tips are moving at up to 180 mph. Many are focused on prey. These factors make wind turbines “ecological death traps,” wherever they are located.

CHEMICAL LAWN TREATMENTS Found to give Pets CANCER — Raised the risk of canine malignant lymphoma by as much as 70%

From: livetradingnews.com

Lawn Chemicals Linked to 2 Types of Cancer in Dogs

Often the most lush lawns and gardens in the neighborhood have been liberally treated with pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, and other chemicals that neither you nor your pet should be exposed to.

According to a study conducted over a 6 year period at the Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, exposure to lawn pesticides,  specifically those applied by professional lawn care companies, raised the risk of canine malignant lymphoma (CML) by as much as 70%

Dogs at highest risk for acquiring CML were over 50 pounds and living in homes where pesticides and herbicides were professionally applied, as well as homes where owners used lawn care products containing insect growth regulators, aka chemical killing agents.

Another study performed at the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Purdue University concluded certain garden and lawn chemicals are linked to canine bladder cancer, including common herbicides containing 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxypropionic acid (MCPP) and/or dicamba.

(video) Penguin Swims 5000 Miles Every Year to Visit Man Who Saved His Life

A retired bricklayer and part time fisherman, 71-year-old Joao Pereira de Souza from an island village just outside Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, discovered a tiny penguin languishing on the rocks in 2011.

The helpless creature was starving and covered in oil but de Souza took him in and nursed him back to health, naming the South American Magellanic penguin Dindim.

And, the flightless bird is believed to swim around 5,000 miles every time he returns.

“I love the penguin like it’s my own child and I believe the penguin loves me,” de Souza told Globo TV.

“No one else is allowed to touch him. He pecks them if they do. He lays on my lap, lets me give him showers, allows me to feed him sardines and to pick him up.” (source)
