Female students shouldn’t be allowed to carry concealed handguns on campus because it “devalues sexual assault,” according to a Vox contributor.
In the article entitled No, giving college students guns won’t stop sexual assault published yesterday, Vox’s Libby Nelson claimed that women should be denied their individual right to self-defense because it won’t collectively stop every sexual assault on campus, such as those committed against drunk women at parties.
“The argument that guns could help turn the tide on campus sexual assaults implicitly devalues sexual assaults without physical force as not part of the problem,” she wrote, seemingly more concerned with pushing a feminist agenda than stopping the violent rapes that do occur.
Her entire article is based on the premise that people are not individuals with inalienable rights but are merely statistics, a premise which has received universal condemnation throughout social media after the article was published.
“Apparently, they need to address the ‘root causes’ of assault before women can defend themselves,” Twitter user DjWeideman wrote regarding the article.
And Twitchy, a social media analyst site, called the article absurd.
“Denying women their rights because allowing them to exercise them is not a panacea? That’s pretty offensive,” Twitchy commented.
But that’s unfortunately the true motive behind the current feminist movement: to reject individual rights in favor of the collective.
“…American individualism is dead and global solidarity is alive and on the rise,” top feminist activist Eve Ensler declared at a speech Feb. 7.
Ever since the CIA and other establishment figures hijacked the feminist movement in the 1960s, it has increasingly been used to promote socialism instead of genuine women’s rights issues.
For one thing, when it comes to women in the Middle East who are treated as second-class citizens, western feminists are largely silent.
