Some of Palin’s remarks stretch the truth

From: Anchorage Daily News

Gov. Sarah Palin’s remarks to the Republican National Convention about her record in state government stretched the truth.

GAS PIPELINE

PALIN: “I fought to bring about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. And when that deal was struck, we began a nearly forty billion dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence. That pipeline, when the last section is laid and its valves are opened, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart.

THE FACTS: Palin implies that construction has begun on a major natural gas pipeline from the top of Alaska into Canada. That is not correct.

In fact, no building has begun and actual construction is years away, if it ever happens. This summer the Alaska Legislature, at Palin’s request, passed a bill under which the state will issue a “license” to a Canadian energy company, TransCanada Corp., and pay it up to $500 million as an incentive to someday build this enormous project, which Alaska politicians have long sought with little success. The license is not a construction contract, and federal energy regulators have not yet approved the project.

Oh, please … semantics don’t even support your position. She said clearly “when” the pipeline was finished that there would be these benefits.

I do find that the truth is always stretched a bit, or sometimes a lot, with Sarah Palin. Her statements do say “we began” the project, and that might lead people to believe that the pipeline is underway. In actuality, it isn’t, and construction may not begin for years, or possibly ever.
Her words are always carefully selected to infer more, or different things, that what her words actually say. One must listen closely to what is not said when she speaks.

    Dear Oregon truther,

Some of the things that Sarah said in the campaign were so reverse-Christian, yet she openly ran as a Christian. And most of the evangelicals had whole-heartedly supported her.

What’s up with that? And not only did Sarah do this in the campaign, but I saw her recently making these same claims about her pipeline success.

The Bible actually says that “all liars” will end up in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. (Rev. 21:8)

The end doesn’t justify the means for real Christians. And the way she was so anti-peace and pro-war was also so reverse-Christian and wouldn’t have helped America or the world — especially when this is done in Jesus’ name.

It’s appalling to me that the teaching at the Assembly of God in Wasilla (50 miles from where I live) must have been so unChristlike for her to think it’s okay to live this way.

And then the evangelicals support her no matter what.

I think we’ve largely become a nation of liars, and many evangelicals are no different. Which is why I make such a big deal about lying on both of my sites.

Lying is one of the sicknesses that is destroying America. And it’s even worse when “Christians” do it. It’s not surprising that she’s gained the reputation as being a hypocrite. And she doesn’t show any signs of slowing down or of becoming more ethical and truthful.

And this is so sad—such a disappointment. Many of us in Alaska didn’t realize.

“Christians” should only run for office if they act like Christians. And until they do, it’s right for Americans to not support their election.

  4. In politics you have to conceal the truth at times. When it comes to faith I use reason first which makes me hated by both who hate revealed religions and atheists. I need proof that Jesus was the son of god or god. I’m totally agnostic with a leaning to Christian deism if I can completely convince myself of a creator. I’m open minded about everything except giving up freedom to secular or relgious tyranny. When it comes to the new world order it seems to be split between the Europeans or Chinese/Russians. If we are bankrupt then we fight than rather surrender to the globalists. Maybe the third hegemony is under American control countering the other two. Well that has Mobile Suit Gundam 00 puts it. Man most conspiracy theorists even if they are proven right don’t watch much anime all those subjects have been discussed but I guess the right wing is to busy being neacous on ecchi to consider seeing animation having ideas you are arriving at a European and especally a American conceit I dislike well that is it.
