The Guardian notes that LGBT advocacy group GLAAD is calling for Hollywood to include gay characters in 50% of their mainstream films by 2024. According to the group, the current percentage is 12.8% [which McKellen is already saying is 50%]. According to recent Gallup surveys, around 4% of Americans identify as gay.
