DNA tests have revealed that the three brown bears shot and killed in the South Fork Eagle River Valley last week were not responsible for the two maulings in the area in June that left one man dead and another injured, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. …
Fish and Game killed a brown bear sow and two cubs in the area on Friday. The agency compared DNA samples from the animals to DNA analysis taken from the scene of the two maulings. There was not a match.
