This M4.0 aftershock is almost in the same spot as the M7.0, almost a year ago in Nov. 30, 2018.

Anchorage is the light gray to the right of Cook inlet in gray.

Aftershocks are dwindling in magnitude and frequency, but they’re still coming almost a year later, and they’re not supposed to stop until 2021! ADN says:

The quake was centered in the same rupture patch as the M7.1 earthquake that shook Southcentral Alaska on Nov. 30, 2018, making it an aftershock of the larger quake.

4.0 aftershock jolts Anchorage area

…The earthquake, which happened at 11:15 a.m., was centered about 6 miles north of Anchorage and about 23 miles deep, according to the Alaska Earthquake Center. Reports on the U.S. Geological Survey site show shaking was felt from Mat-Su to along Turnagain Arm.

The quake was centered in the same rupture patch as the 7.1 earthquake that shook Southcentral Alaska on Nov. 30, 2018, making it an aftershock of the larger quake.

The Alaska Earthquake Center says aftershocks from the 2018 earthquake are expected to last until around June 2021.
