Origin of the Palestinians
After Jerusalem was destroyed in A.D. 70, a large percentage of Jews stayed in the region. Many converted to Christianity. In the seventh century, those who stayed in Palestine became Islamicized through conquest.
“According to historical records part, or perhaps the majority, of the Moslem Arabs in this country descended from local inhabitants, mainly Christians and Jews, who had converted after the Islamic conquest in the seventh century AD.”

“Historically, the origin of the Arab population residing in Israel and the Palestinian Authority Area (I&P Arabs) is complex and diverse. …
“The Roman Judean Wars (66–135 AD ) culminated in the destruction of the Second Temple and led to the annihilation or exile of a large portion of the Jewish population (Anderson 1995). The first millennium AD was marked by the immigration of Arab tribes, reaching its climax with the Moslem conquest from the Arabian Peninsula (633–640 AD ). This was followed by a slow process of Islamization of the local population, both of Christians and Jews (Shaban 1971; Mc Graw Donner 1981). …

Wikipedia even mentions the study in their article, “Origin of the Palestinians”:
One DNA study by Nebel found substantial genetic overlap among Israeli/Palestinian Arabs and Jews.[45] The study concluded that “part, or perhaps the majority” of Muslim Palestinians descend from “local inhabitants, mainly Christians and Jews, who had converted after the Islamic conquest in the seventh century AD“.[40]
