Protesters clashed with ICE on the streets of Paramount, a city in southeast Los Angeles County, after a raid was conducted at a Home Depot. On Friday, Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said the department would not cooperate with federal authorities in deportation efforts, a sentiment that L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna later echoed on behalf of his department. They both reiterated that point on Saturday in separate statements as the demonstrations/ riots continued.
Many of the illegal aliens who were arrested by ICE had serious prior criminal records.
Protests turned to riots in downtown Los Angeles at a federal migrant detention center, and the leftist crowd shut down the 101 Freeway. They also hurled rocks and bottles at law enforcement officers, set fires, and committed vandalism and property destruction.
President Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard soldiers. The federal government is now enforcing the law because the state and local governments and law enforcement are standing down. Critics are concerned that this is a set-up for martial law, which some believe is the endgame.
Many protesters held pre-printed “ICE Out of LA” signs. The protests were claimed to be organic and spontaneous. However, the professional signs are an indicator that this is a planned operation with an agenda ~JW Williams
