Fenske on Chuck Norris’ “Would Jesus Support War?” – ‘A God of War’ & ‘*a* Prince of Peace’

Quotations from: Chuck Norris’ WND piece: Would Jesus support war?

When Joseph Farah started WorldNetDaily, I was a big fan – proudly displaying my WorldNetDaily: A Free Press for a Free People bumper sticker on my car. I thought Farah was really pro-freedom.

But then came 9/11, and Afghanistan (yuck!), and Iraq (quadruple yuck!). Farah supported all of the knee-jerk reactions, and wouldn’t print anything contrary to the corporatocracy, pro-war line. And now it seems there is no end in sight.

Chuck Norris continues Farah’s philosophy in this pro-Huckabee, Jesus-is-pro-our-wars article. Norris writes:

That’s another reason I’ve endorsed Mike Huckabee. He’s also the only presidential candidate who publicly values the Second Amendment as much as the First. He reminds Americans that our Second Amendment gun-bearing rights were given not merely as a license to hunt, but a protection against tyranny.

At least Farah, as editor in chief, must know better: the only presidential candidate line patently ignores the champion of the Constitution, 10-term congressman, Ron Paul. WND completely ignores Congressman Ron Paul and his total support of the United States Constitution (no other candidate comes close). And Paul is especially strong on the right to bear arms to protect ourselves even against our own government if it becomes tyrannical.

To justify Huckabee’s pro-preemptive war stance, the famous kick-fighter mentions a specific situation in which God told the Children of Israel to kill every man. Norris is correctly stating that Jesus already has supported war. But then Norris wants us to make the leap that because Jesus supported that war he now supports Bush’s (and Huckabee’s continuation of) The Project for a New American Century’s (PNAC) globalist wars??

God gets a bad rap for that particular kill-them-all mandate, but there is a very important, but little-known, bizarre reason why God righteously commanded the Children of Israel to preemptively kill the giants (the Genesis 6 and-after-that, Nephilim hybrids) in the promised land. Satan’s plan was to occupy Canaan with “his own seed” in advance of Abraham’s seed so they would interbreed and contaminate the human race. See:

My theory on the Nephilim: When God told the Children of Israel to kill every man, woman and child in Canaan (the giants), there was this Genesis-6, demon-contaminated genetic problem again? Israel did not; and then there was intermarriage. This would explain why so many seem to be predisposed towards evil — and they become our leaders — even of churches?!!

Our totally holy Creator is very serious about the taking of human life. He was then and is now.

George W. Bush and our future President don’t have this same mandate, no matter what W thinks God told him about Iraq. And we must consider that anyone who supports this “kill them over there” philosophy is a murderer in heart. This mentality is polluting “the church,” sickening our nation, and turning the world against us and even Jesus!

Instead of electing another like the President we have, we should be contritely reconsidering our position and support a more Christlike, a more Prince-of-Peacelike international policy. “They’ll know us by our love.”

Norris continues:

(Of course every dagger draper must also wrestle with his caution, “for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword”!)

Will this scripture come true for America? Will America perish by the sword as China and/or Russia take us out? For based upon their own statements, Huckabee would not exercise sufficient caution when it comes to war. Only Ron Paul would. Only Ron Paul would restore our credibility. If we sow peace, we’ll reap peace. If we sow war, we’ll reap war. And we’re no longer the only big boy on the block, China for example.

WND asks:

WWJW [What would Jesus war]?

No question that Jesus Christ has called us to love our neighbors as ourselves, turn our other cheek in sacrifice for another, and pray for our enemies. And so we should. However, he also realizes criminals and terrorists will confront us and calls us to defend and protect our families and borders too.

I agree, but have we really prayed for whom the neocons say are our enemies? Do we really love Iraqi men, women, children and old folks as much as we love American men, women, children and old people? As many as hundreds of thousands of the innocent have died, and their nation is in shambles. Even most of the Christians have fled. And we’re responsible. And incredibly, many “Christians” are willing to do the same thing all over again in Iran. “Pastors” are even drum-beating for this next, preemptive war.

How would we like it if Iraq had been the stronger power and invaded us for the attrocities we really have committed around the world for decades, which included our supplying biological weapons to Sadam Hussein. Bush then played the “weapons of mass destruction” card to justify taking him out, but the real reason was because Sadam was no longer under our thumb and was getting in the way of his daddy’s New World Order’s agenda – which the Bible predicted but in no way supports.

And now Jesus’ name is besmirched because the “Christians” have been Bush’s (and now Huckabee’s) loudest supporters.

“‘Come out from among them,
And be separate
,’ says the Lord,
Touch no unclean thing.
I will receive you. (2Cor. 6:17)

Ron Paul, a sincere Christian who most evangelical leaders won’t support, believes in hands off until necessary: a strong military defense, but only to be used as a last resort and only when our families and borders are truly in peril. This is Jesus’ way. We need to separate ourselves and come out of the Antichrist, beast system.

Norris incorrectly concludes:

The baby born in a manger 2,000 years ago was not only a Savior, but a God of war. But, even more, he is a Prince of Peace who spiritually waged war on our behalves to bring us peace with God and a promise to live forever in heaven.

Jesus isn’t just a Prince of Peace, He is THE Prince of Peace who resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

James 4:1 (WEB) Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members? 2 You lust, and don’t have. You kill, covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask. 3 You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. 4 You adulterers and adulteresses [America?], don’t you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

May the pro-preemptive-war ‘church’ humble themselves and repent to the world for what they’ve done, or we will all pay the consequences. Ron Paul is our chance, our God-given chance to repent. Too many Bush and Huckabee supporting, evangelical ‘churches’ are merely “partysville” – all smiles but no real joy and peace within. The remedy is above in verse 9 & 10, and politically, I believe, in Ron Paul’s “humble” foreign policy.

Chuck Norris ends with this certainly well meaning but very problematic prayer:

Jesus, I accept that you were born with a mission to die. I believe you spiritually waged war on the cross by taking the punishment for me there to pay for my sins. I open the door of my heart right now and invite you in as my Lord and Savior. Take control of my life. Teach me to be your follower. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. In Your name I pray. Amen.

This is problematic, because praying “Jesus…take control of my life” while publicly supporting unnecessary mass killing is like the popular, female, ‘Christian’ singer who sings “Jesus Take the Wheel” before millions while clearly disregarding the Apostle Paul’s mandate that Christian women dress modestly.

We can thank God for forgiving our sins and giving us eternal life, believing the promise to live forever in heaven, like Norris states. But will this promise apply to us if we aren’t truly peacemakers?

According to the Prince of Peace, we can only be children of God if we really are peacemakers:

Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called children of God. (Mt. 5:9)

Jesus doesn’t mess around. He doesn’t just say things and not mean them. Every word of the Bible can be trusted, and we’ll be judge by it.

If we hate we’re in trouble. He wants us pure, like Him. Our goal is too small. And love, peace and joy is just around the corner – that blissful corner that we take to live in Him!

The Bible also says this about who the children of God are:

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. (Rom. 8:14)

We just can’t do our own thing and think we’re in because positive-encouragement-only “Christian” music and “Christian” preachers say so, telling us what we want to hear. But what does the Bible say? We must be led by the Spirit, Who is the Prince of Peace, not preemptive war.

We should really, seriously pray: Lord Jesus, the Prince of Peace, take the wheel. Really.

Quoting Chuck’s prayer, but said differently: Jesus, take control of my life. Teach me to be your follower. Teach us whom you want us to vote for, and teach us how to love the Iraqis, Iranians and even our worst enemy as much as we love ourselves?

Ron Paul is a true peacemaker and child of God. Now is our chance!

Ron Paul 2008!

Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeee——————dom!!!!!!!!!!!

Power to the people!!!!!!!!!!!!

May we forever be ‘ONE’ in Christ Jesus, THE PRINCE of PEACE – right with Him and right with the nations – having clean hands and a pure heart – peacemakers.

AMEN!It’s human nature to view God’s nature to be the same as ours. Human nature wants God to torture and mame those evil people to teach “them” a lesson. The only way to LOVE our enemy is to die to self and allow Jesus Christ to re-create us

I appreciate your comments on the hypocrisy of war-mongering “Christians”, but I feel the need to comment on a certain quote:

“God gets a bad rap for that particular kill-them-all mandate, but there is a very important, but little-known, bizarre reason why God righteously commanded the Children of Israel to preemptively kill the giants (the Genesis 6 and-after-that, Nephilim hybrids) in the promised land. Satan’s plan was to occupy Canaan with “his own seed” in advance of Abraham’s seed so they would interbreed and contaminate the human race.”

Respectfully, that is not even remotely a “righteous” reason to murder everyone in a city.

If Satan can occupy Canaan with his own seed, there is no reason why he cannot do this in other cities as well. It is stated and implied many times in the bible that the earth is under Satan’s “dominion”. Satan’s plan is to corrupt the entire human race, is it not? So perhaps God should order the murder of the entire human race?

The quoted segment above is a flimsy rationalization for what is CLEARLY an evil action, apparently ordered by God. This rationalization comes across like a woman trying desperately to justify the actions of her abusive husband. In fact, the words and actions of the God of the Old Testament have caused many right-thinking men and women to abandon Christianity altogether.

However, there is another line of thought regarding why the savage and heartless God of the Old Testament seems so very different from the peaceful and loving God of the New Testament. Look into Gnostic Christianity for some insight.

In my opinion, just as the church of the True God has been corrupted, so has His book. It is simply naive to believe that the bible is incorruptible. The church was inspired by God, and yet it has been corrupted – likewise the bible was inspired by God, and yet it has been corrupted. In fact, *this very website* shows evidence that the bible has been corrupted in contemporary times, with the article on the new King James version.

If it can be corrupted now, you can bet is has been corrupted before now. And just as the church has been corrupted beyond the average man’s wildest imagination, so has the bible.

This is why we cannot just mindlessly follow the words written in a book. In my opinion the bible is meant to direct us back to the connection with God that He has placed within each one of us. If we have no connection to God within ourselves, then all words are arbitrary and one thing is just as good as another, because we have nothing within us to measure what is right and what is wrong.

That is why we must exercise discernment with ALL things, no matter whether it is a speech from our favorite politician or the words from our favorite holy book.

Thank you for the comments. But archaeological digs and scholarly arguments cannot contend with what my honest judgment perceives to be evil. I do not want to be untrue to myself and what God has given me in my mind and heart.

In fact, your comments kind of reinforce what I was saying earlier -Your essential argument for the “righteousness” of the old testament God seems to be this: God’s idea of “justice” is something that we cannot possibly understand, and something that we might even consider “evil” or “deplorable”. If this is the case, if we truly cannot discern what is good and what is evil in the mind of God, then this means we have ultimately been given no innate ability to perceive what is good and what is not, and so everything is ultimately relative and arbitrary.

However – if human beings do in fact have an innate connection to God, no matter how flimsy, then if we struggle to maintain that connection we can discern what on this earth is “from God” and what is “from Satan”.

There is a clear parallel here in the ordinary world. George W made bold claims to be “of God”, and yet his actions seemed to be of a VERY different nature. Perhaps one could argue that he was at a higher level of understanding regarding the world, we didn’t know what he knew and therefore since he referenced Jesus his actions must ultimately all be “good” and “righteous”? There are some that certainly believe that!

But no, men of discernment cannot accept that because goodness is not something that is intellectually malleable to suit the situation, but something simple and recognizable by the heart.

You say that the bible was translated impeccably. However, you neglect to mention the very human “council of Nicea”, men who decided which books to include within the official bible and which books to exclude as “apocrypha”. What of those rejected books? It is difficult to deny that the bible was very much a human composition of various selected texts, as much as we would like to believe that it simply fell from heaven as a complete book.

The only way that your argument can hold water is if you believe that somehow the human beings of antiquity involved in the creation and translation of the bible were, each and every one of them, utterly incorruptible. And I think this is an incredibly naive thing to believe.

I understand the desire for the bible to be infallible, because I for one would love for there to be at least ONE thing in the physical world that is firm and immutable and utterly reliable. However, in my opinion there exists no such thing. The physical world is the domain of Satan and thus he has infiltrated absolutely everything.

The only thing that is immutable and utterly reliable is the non-physical connection within us to the creator of all that exists.

For this subject I might reference the eastern parable of the finger pointing to the moon. The teacher points to the moon in order for the disciple to look up at the moon, but instead the disciple looks at the pointing finger. The finger is only there to point us to the moon, those who focus on the finger are being deceived by surface appearances, IMO.

However, like in most situations I’m open to being totally wrong and if so then I can only hope that I am granted the grace to see the light!

Thanks again for the comments, there aren’t many writings these days that inspire me to respond.

      Brandon,

I appreciate this discussion too. Very important stuff!

I’ll say more soon, but for now, please listen to the last part of this first video of a recent ‘Coast to Coast AM’ broadcast with Steve Quayle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cMckKfyU3U.

I’ve already transcribed some, and will be posting it soon.

I said “I don’t understand everything God does and has done,” but I think I do, and we can understand much of His actions, and why they are just. And the longer I know Him the more I understand why.

I have long held that the more we know God the more we will appreciate Him, and we’ll never be disappointed.

Some people seem to be really special until we really get to know them. I think it’s the other way with God. He gets a really bad rap, but the closer we get to Him the more we respect Him. There is no way to be disillusioned with God as we really get to know Him.

God tells me things every day. He’s trying to help me. He doesn’t interfere in my life, hardly ever. He gives me space to fail or succeed. And He wants SO MUCH for me and you to succeed! And He’s given the US so many opportunities. He’s given pastors so many opportunities, who could have laid the foundation to save America. But the pastors are fighting the good people God gave to help them. And then the pastors become the problem, influenced by the dark angels that really do distort their thinking, instead of listening to and obeying God no matter how hard, regardless of how much they have to lose face (they’re so concerned about how they look in front of men and women) when they admit they were wrong. So life can come.

I agree with all that you said, and it makes me happy to hear someone say that stuff.

I think the only area where we might disagree is the area regarding the bible. I do not consider it an infallible text, as I do not consider anything touched by man to be infallible.

There are many parts of the Old Testament where God appears to be an absolutely evil being. If God was a human leader in those cases then we would say that leader is definitely evil. As in the case with George W, I cannot simply ignore what my heart tells me is evil just because the word “God” or “Jesus” is mentioned in the sentence.

In those areas of the bible where God demands murder and sacrifice and bloodshed and basically *contradicts* everything Jesus said in the New Testament, I suspect those areas are accurately transcribed accounts of interactions with demonic entities and not the true God. A man coming into contact with a powerful demonic being could surely be deceived into believing that he is speaking with God, which is what I strongly suspect has occurred.

I think many people would be beyond angry to hear someone say that about the bible, and I think that fact is indicative of the immense programming that has gone into convincing people that their own holy book is absolutely infallible. If someone is totally unable to even *consider* a simple idea, then in my opinion they are most likely under hypnotic programming of some sort.

I think these ancient accounts of interactions with demonic entities are related to modern day “alien abductions” and the new-age religion and things like that. Though extra-terrestrials could surely possibly exist, I suspect that these “aliens” are non-physical beings that live right here on earth with us and not creatures from Alpha Centauri or wherever.

      Brandon,

[audio] Steve Quayle on ‘Coast’ 7/10/11: Angel Wars — War in the Heavens for our Souls is posted.

I do believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, that we can trust it and what it says about God. And I have many reasons to believe that, especially the sources that I mentioned above.

I really do recommend researching the Bible from a number of perspectives. I think you’ll find your answer.

Also, I don’t personally spend a lot of time in the Old Testament. If I did, perhaps I could explain more of why God did this and God did that, because I believe God gives us spiritual insight as we think about these things.

But I don’t major on these things. My major interest is how we can get real Christianity to happen now. When people see God move among people in awesome glory, then they will know. But many ‘Christians’ say they welcome a real spiritual revival while at the same time they fight it. Their hearts are evil — like what Steve Quayle was talking about.

I believe almost all people are being directly influenced by evil spirits. They can skew our understanding. We can’t necessarily trust our hearts unless we know for sure we are free. For example, we should hear only one voice.

Regarding George W. Bush, I have many posts that show he is a fraud in posing as a Christian.

      Regarding the Bible…

I recall being shaken up by an Old Testament class at the University of Minnesota that I attended in the late ’70s. It seemed that the professor’s agenda was to shatter our faith, gleefully teaching us the JEDP theory, etc., and here I was mostly a self-taught Christian.

I visited the nearby InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, and checked out and read Henry Morris’ The Genesis Record, if I remember correctly. And it put my heart at ease. I had never even heard of the canopy theory before. We didn’t learn anything about apologetics or the scientific basis for the Bible in the Lutheran school system. I was totally unprepared for this.

My heart has been settled ever since. But it has been reinforced by many other things I’ve studied. I really do recommend Kent Hovind’s videos and Ron Wyatt’s.

How could one man, Ron Wyatt discover so many things? Because he took the Bible literally, and looked where it said to look. And the Holy Spirit led him from there. And he’s been shunned by much of the ‘church,’ who still think we haven’t found Noah’s ark.

And I think Josh McDowell’s apologetic works are excellent also. Notice that the New Testament writers and Jesus often quoted the Old Testament writings as being fact. No one questioned these writings. Why should we?

If you ask God to help you answer these questions, my guess is He will, in spades!

May we all have peace in God,

      Jeff : )
