Mayor Ethan Berkowitz arrives at Assembly meeting. Public not allowed to attend, per his orders

Jul 29, 2020

Mayor Ethan Berkowitz has prohibited the public from attending any meetings of the Anchorage Assembly, while they debate and vote on items such as prohibiting the counseling of children, the use of CARES Act money to purchase hotels and gyms, and the establishment of a new bureaucratic office of Equity and Justice that would be in the Office of the Mayor. For the second night in a row, the public he is excluding must stand outside to express their views, cannot come inside and watch the proceedings. The mayor walks on by and ignores them, unlike when he joined a Black Lives Matter rally last month and was a featured speaker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XKEC…
