Ekho Moskvy and TVRain are among the few independent media outlets in Russia

False accusations to disguise a brazen act of censorship

This afternoon, at 18:41 CET, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, led by Lieutenant General Igor Viktorovich Krasnov, posted a message on its Telegram channel announcing the blocking of the Ekho Moskvy radio station and the Dozhd TV channel, two of the remaining independent media outlets in the country. The Prosecutor’s Office accuses both outlets of “the deliberate and systematic publication on the websites of Ekho Moskvy and Dozhd TV of information that calls for extremist activity, violence, as well as deliberately false information about the actions of Russian military personnel as part of a special operation to protect the RPD and LPR.”

These are accusations that lack credibility and that hide the true cause of this censorship clearly dictated by the government: that both media have not followed the lying slogans of the Kremlin to disguise this aggression against Ukraine and hide its reality to the Russian people, specifically the casualties it is causing among the Ukrainian civilian population and among the Russian military.

TVRain was the only Russian TV channel to broadcast Zelensky’s remarks

Dozhd TV Channel broadcasts its content on YouTube on the Телеканал Дождь (TVRain) channel. It is the only Russian television channel that broadcasts the statements of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski, and it was one of the few means by which the citizens of Russia could obtain minimally reliable information about the reality of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
