Meanwhile the US is Still Illegally Occupying Syrian Oil Fields
The US certainly can’t say that their occupation of the oil producing region of Syria is defensive. They are doing this to make sure Syria can’t rebuild after all the devastation US-backed terrorists (rebels and ISIS—both of which were imported by the US to Syria) have caused. Tass.com reports that the presence of the US bases (nine and counting) continue to invite attacks from Iraqi militias.
US troops have been attacked with missiles in eastern Syria, Al Mayadeen reported. According to the television channel, the incident took place near the Koniko natural gas field in the province of Deir ez-Zor, home to a US military base.
A large share of the Syrian provinces of Hasakah, Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, located in the east and northeast of the country, is currently controlled by the US-backed Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Since 2015, the US command has established nine military bases in this area. At the end of 2019, then US President Donald Trump approved a plan that would leave several hundred US troops in Syria. One of their main tasks was to ensure control of oil fields in the northeast and east of the country. Damascus views the US’ military presence on Syrian territory as illegal occupation.
This occupation occurred even during Trump’s presidency who was regularly deceived by bad intelligence briefings, including those that convinced him to approve the killing of Iranian General Soleimani. The Deep State briefers told Trump that Iran was the “biggest sponsor of terror in the Middle East.” In reality, general Soleimani was the biggest sponsor of the Iraqi militia which was fighting US-backed terror in the region, mostly notably the US-created ISIS terrorists. That’s why the US Deep State wanted him dead.
