REBELLION BREWING IN DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN RANKS

The untold story emerging from the Super Tuesday primaries is not that McCain has the Republican nomination almost wrapped up, or that the Democrats are evenly split in their support for Obama and Clinton.  The real story is that the manipulation of the election process has become so obvious to the thinking portion of each party that a latent rebellion is brewing. More and more people are cynical and angry over media bias, carefully timed big name endorsements that sway ignorant voters, and back room party deals (yet to come) that are specifically aimed at thwarting the ever-growing dissatisfaction of voters with the hollow promises of change.  Those that spend a considerable amount of time pondering the issues and candidate positions (both real and feigned) are in the minority of each party.  But, they are at least twice as active as passive and manipulated voters–and they don’t like what they see ahead.  Is this growing rebellion enough to stop the establishment process of limiting our choice to Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum?  Probably not, at least not yet, but dissatisfaction levels are growing so much that if the establishment forces John McCain and Hillary Clinton upon the nation, an independent challenge is probable. This week I’ll talk about the options.

[Skousen] Election Central: Romney—The One to Stop

ELECTION CENTRAL: ROMNEY–THE ONE TO STOP

With a solid win in the Michigan primary, supposedly a “make it or break it” contest for Romney, the establishment is now going to have it’s hands full trying to stop the surge for Romney. The media claimed Romney’s grasp of the economy was what propelled him to victory in Michigan. Not so. It was just bad, old-fashioned pandering to a depressed economic area, promising federal help-though avoiding the word “bailout.” Romney is not taking the high road of a Ron Paul, who would never stoop to promising benefits. This, sadly, makes Ron Paul less electable and easier for the establishment to dismiss. But Romney is playing the establishment game with the best, and that is the establishment’s problem. As Romney tries to appeal to a wide audience, the election insiders are having to promote 3 different candidates, in different ways and at different times, in order to stop various aspects of the Romney appeal.

What’s so funny about moving closer to war with Iran? When Mike Gravel challenges Hillary Clinton about her vote for the Kyl- Lieberman Amendment, reminiscent of her vote for the Iraq War authorization, she laughs and responds that it is her “understanding” that terrorist activity justifies her vote. Is our intelligence reliable this time? John Edwards rebukes her, too.

Skousen: Election Manipulation in Full Swing

ELECTION MANIPULATION IN FULL SWING

We live in a fractured society pitting a few million ideologically savvy people against a growing majority of ill-informed voters whose ideas are manipulated by the media. Almost all voters are dissatisfied with the status quo, but often for the wrong reasons. The majority keeps being lured away from limited government by the promise of greater federal health and education benefits as if that were the solution to galloping inflation. In fact, it is the problem-not the solution.

Predictably, they always vote for change, but change never comes. This is because we are rarely presented with a candidate who understands the totality of change necessary. When a candidate like Ron Paul emerges, who really understands the problems and proposes the inevitable tough solutions, he is labeled as a kook, or extremist,…but mostly ignored. About 2-5% of the nation is able to see through it all, but as we found out in the New Hampshire primary, it’s not enough to overtake the momentum of ignorance within the majority. The system is rigged for secrecy, and takes advantage of the average American’s dependence upon the half-truths and distortions we are fed by the establishment media, public education and conventional political theory. Thus, the typical voter holds an almost infinite variety of ignorant and irrational ideas about both cause and effect of our national crises and thus becomes easy prey to false solutions and media manipulation. We saw all these things play out in New Hampshire this week, including some last minute media manipulation and vote fraud–signs that the Powers That Be (PTB) are having to scramble to control this race.

Mike Huckabee Can Be Mean, Flirts with Vulgarity

In his home state, Huckabee has a reputation for an elephantine memory for slights and criticism. “The local cliché about him is that he is thin-skinned,” says Prof. Janine Parry, who teaches Arkansas state politics at the University of Arkansas. “And he can be mean. The national press hasn’t seen much of that. So far he’s kept it under control.

“Huckabee, on one wellremembered occasion, banned an alternative newspaper, The Arkansas Times, from the services of the governor’s press office. His usual weapon, though, has been his sharp tongue. Huckabee is never profane — one of his first acts as governor was to ban swearing and inappropriate sexual remarks by his staff — but he has a way of expressing himself that sometimes flirts with vulgarity. “Once he told a group of journalists that I was constipated,” John Brummett recalls. “That was his way of saying I was full of [expletive].”

This fall, Huckabee demonstrated his style in an interview with The Washington Times. Assailing Hillary Clinton for failing to denounce MoveOn.org’s attack on Gen. David Petraeus, he said, “If you can’t get your lips off the backside of George Soros long enough to use those lips to say it’s wrong to declare a sitting general . . . guilty of treason, how would you ever expect to have the support of the very military you might have to send into deadly battle?”
