Camera Scanning: It’s possible to make excellent digitizations of film and print originals using a digital camera

This should also work well for scanning art.

From: dpbestflow

Digital cameras can be used to create high quality scans of film or print originals that can offer rapid throughput at a reasonable cost, provided that a good digital camera is available. This page outlines the considerations for setting up and operating a camera scanning system.

With some special hardware, along with some proper techniques, it’s possible to make excellent digitizations of film and print originals using a digital camera. The camera’s sensor provides excellent resolution for the scan, even as compared to dedicated film scanners such as Imacon. A DSLR’s built in anti-moire filter also helps in minimizing the appearence of dust and minor scratches present on the media being scanned.

You can compare the relative quality of a file made with an Imacon film scanner and a file made with a Canon 1Ds MkII.

Chuck Baldwin: FEC Attempts to Shut Down Campaign for Liberty. “They’re trying to cover the light so they that can continue to operate in darkness.”

From: Wikipedia

Campaign for Liberty is a political organization founded by eleven-term United States Congressman Ron Paul. The Campaign for Liberty focuses on educating elected officials and the general public about constitutional issues, and currently provides a membership program. Its legal status is that of a 501(c)(4) nonprofit.[2] It is also known as C4L.

The Campaign for Liberty was announced on June 12, 2008 as a way of continuing the grassroots support involved in Ron Paul’s 2008 presidential run, and corresponded with the suspension of that campaign. Paul formally announced during the Texas Republican Convention that he had created this new organization known as the Campaign for Liberty.[3]

Chuck Baldwin: The Internet Must Remain Free — “Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too,” Lieberman told CNN’s Candy Crowley.

Mark it down: if the federal government ever shuts down the Internet, it will be business as usual for Washington, D.C., and its fellow travelers in Big Business; but We the People will be out of business, and so will freedom.

THE INTERNET MUST REMAIN FREE

By Chuck Baldwin
June 29, 2010
NewsWithViews.com

The Internet is abuzz with news that a US Senate committee has approved a bill that apparently gives the President authority to shut down the Internet. According to TechWorld.com, “A US Senate committee has approved a wide-ranging cybersecurity bill that some critics have suggested would give the US president the authority to shut down parts of the Internet during a cyberattack.”

The report continues by saying, “The bill, introduced earlier this month [by Senators Joe Lieberman, I-Connecticut, Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Thomas Carper, D-Delaware], would establish a White House Office for Cyberspace Policy and a National Center for Cybersecurity and Communications, which would work with private US companies to create cybersecurity requirements for the electric grid, telecommunications networks and other critical infrastructure.”

See the report here.

A PrisonPlanet.com report says this about the bill: “President Obama will be handed the power to shut down the Internet for at least four months without Congressional oversight if the Senate votes for the infamous Internet ‘kill switch’ bill, which was approved by a key Senate committee yesterday [June 24] and now moves to the floor.

“The Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act, which is being pushed hard by Senator Joe Lieberman, would hand absolute power to the federal government to close down networks, and block incoming Internet traffic from certain countries under a declared national emergency.

“Despite the Center for Democracy and Technology and 23 other privacy and technology organizations sending letters to Lieberman and other backers of the bill expressing concerns that the legislation could be used to stifle free speech, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee passed the bill in advance of a vote on the Senate floor.”

The report continued by saying, “Fears that the legislation is aimed at bringing the Internet under the regulatory power of the U.S. government in an offensive against free speech were heightened further on Sunday, when Lieberman revealed that the plan was to mimic [communist] China’s policies of policing the web with censorship and coercion.

“‘Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too,’ Lieberman told CNN’s Candy Crowley.

“While media and public attention is overwhelmingly focused on the BP oil spill, the establishment is quietly preparing the framework that will allow Obama, or indeed any President who follows him, to bring down a technological iron curtain that will give the government a foot in the door on seizing complete control over the Internet.”

See the report here.

Of course, pro-family groups have long lobbied Washington lawmakers to pass regulations restricting objectionable material on the Internet. But Senator Lieberman’s bill does more than restrict content on the Internet; it gives the federal government the power to completely shut it down.

My friends, if you have any love for liberty left in your heart, one thing is critical: the Internet must remain free–absolutely, totally unrestricted and free.

Palin Goes Rogue Against Tea Party Candidates, by Valerie Richardson

From:

Pop quiz: Which of the following Republican primary candidates is Sarah Palin most likely to endorse?

(A) A solid conservative with the backing of local Tea Party groups and a track record of supporting limited government and lower taxes;
(B) A pro-life woman;
(C) Anyone remotely connected to John McCain.

If you answered “A,” you haven’t been keeping up with Palin’s recent rash of endorsements. Despite her image as the maverick queen of the Tea Party movement, Palin has passed on a number of conservative standard-bearers in favor of candidates with better connections to either McCain, the Republican Party or the Susan B. Anthony List.

Her willingness to choose individuals over issues hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Tea Party faithful.

“The bloom’s off the rose,” said Shelby Blakely, a member of the national leadership council of Tea Party Patriots, the nation’s largest such group. “She’s a company girl. She’s a Republican, and not in a good way.”

Biden Calls Custard Shop Manager a ‘Smartass’ After Taxes Comment

Vice President Biden called the manager of a custard shop outside of Milwaukee, Wis., a “smartass” after the man asked him to lower taxes.

Biden made the comment Friday after the Kopp’s Frozen Custard shop manager told him that his dessert would be on the house if he lowered taxes.

“What do we owe you?” Biden is heard saying in footage captured by WISN-TV.

“Don’t worry, it’s on us,” the manager replied. “Lower our taxes and we’ll call it [the custard] even.”

“Why don’t you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time?” Biden said a few minutes later.

Biden had walked in to Kopp’s mistakenly asking for ice cream instead of custard.

The manager said later in an interview with WISN that he thought Biden didn’t seem happy initially about the taxes comment, but that the vice president later whispered that he was just kidding.

Treachery In The Gulf: I will try to connect the dots

Treachery In The Gulf
By Robbi Skye Campbell
6-29-10

What has happened in the Gulf of Mexico was not by accident. It was most likely a design to support an agenda. What that agenda is we do not know exactly but I will try to connect the dots. We may soon know the true extent of its nature by the “solutions” our government imposes on the people in the Gulf area.

There are some major problems:

The Obama administration allowed BP to drill at an unstable site (highly over pressured) in 5,000 feet of water;

BP CEO Tony Hayward dumped his BP stock 2 months before the spill;

The well was kicking since they drilled into the production zone, so the drilling fluid or mud was underbalanced (mud weight not quite heavy enough for the upward pressure of the gas);

Goldman Sachs dumped 44% of BP stock and went short on Transocean stock the day before the spill;

The drilling crew knew that the annular blowout preventer was damaged and BP company man Kazula did not order it repaired;

BP company man Kazula was a greenhorn on the Deepwater Horizon (he was inexperienced);

The well was cased, cemented and had two cement abandonment plugs in place, so how could the well be kicking (trying to blow out)?;

BP company man Kazula sent away the Schlumberger team (supposed to do the cement bond log to check Halliburton’s cement job on the casing);

Despite this the BP company man made the decision to change the mud over to seawater (seawater is 40% lighter than the drilling mud). This is not logical;

Shouting match between the rig superintendent and the company man. Superintendent felt that the order to change over to seawater was irrational and suicidal;

During the changeover of the mud to seawater is when the blowout naturally occurred;

President Obama stood by but did not take action for at least three weeks after the spill;

BP and the White House allowed the spill to continue;

The White House allowed BP to spray the highly toxic chemical, Corexit 9500, which is considered to be four to ten times more toxic than the oil itself. EPA told BP not to use Corexit 9500 and BP ignored the federal agency. Corexit is being sprayed at nighttime on coastal residences by the CIA-front, Evergreen Air (which reportedly also sprays chemtrails);

Negligible cleanup measures on the shores and at sea;

Barack Obama sent SWAT teams to production platforms and drilling rigs;

Obama sent the Army and National Guard into the Gulf States  for what reason?

Suppression of investigative reporting of the spill;

BP arrested people taking pictures of the area;

BP is allowed to reap the benefit of gathering oil rather than stopping the spill;

Interests and livelihood of the residents suppressed and not considered in decisions;

President Obama is using the spill to get the “Cap and Trade” bill passed;

Twenty-two countries have offered their experience in spill control and cleanup but neither our government nor BP has accepted their offers;

BP and Obama have declined to use non-toxic microbes as a clean-up measure;

BP company man Kazula invoked the Fifth Amendment under congressional questioning of his orders. …

The oil flow in the Gulf is equivalent to the Exxon Valdez every two days.

MEDICALLY CAUSED DEATH IN AMERICA: “Medical coverage for all” is a banner that conceals ugly facts — 225,000 medically-caused deaths in the US every year!

Nutrition, the cornerstone of good health, is ignored or devalued by most physicians. The FDA continues to attack nutritional supplements, even though the overall safety record of these nutrients is good, whereas, once again, the medical drugs the FDA certifies as safe are killing 106,000 Americans per year.

MEDICALLY CAUSED DEATH IN AMERICA

By Jon Rappoport
June 28, 2010
NewsWithViews.com

An Exclusive Interview With Barbara Starfield

The American health system, like clockwork, causes a mind-boggling number of deaths every year.

The figures have been known for a decade. The story was covered briefly when a landmark study surfaced, and then it sank like a stone.

The truth was inconvenient for many interests. That has not changed. “Medical coverage for all” is a banner that conceals ugly facts.

On July 26, 2000, the US medical community received a titanic shock to the system, when one of its most respected public-health experts, Dr. Barbara Starfield, revealed her findings on healthcare in America. Starfield was, and still is, associated with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

The Starfield study, “Is US health really the best in the world?”, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, came to the following conclusions:

Every year in the US there are:

12,000 deaths from unnecessary surgeries;

7,000 deaths from medication errors in hospitals;

20,000 deaths from other errors in hospitals;

80,000 deaths from infections acquired in hospitals;

106,000 deaths from FDA-approved correctly prescribed medicines.

The total of medically-caused deaths in the US every year is 225,000.

This makes the medical system the third leading cause of death in the US, behind heart disease and cancer.

[…]

Are you aware of any systematic efforts, since your 2000 JAMA study was published, to remedy the main categories of medically caused deaths in the US?

No systematic efforts; however, there have been a lot of studies. Most of them indicate higher rates [of death] than I calculated.

[…]

To my knowledge, not one person in America has been fired from a job or even censured as result of these medically caused deaths.

The pharmaceutical giants stand back and carve up the populace into “promising markets.” They seek new disease labels and new profits from more and more toxic drugs. They do whatever they can—legally or illegally—to influence doctors in their prescribing habits. Some drug studies which cast new medicines in a negative light are buried. FDA panels are filled with doctors who have drug-company ties. Legislators are incessantly lobbied and supported with pharma campaign monies.
