Newly analysed Nasa satellite data from east Antarctica shows Earth has set a new record for coldest temperature ever recorded: -94.7C (-135.8F).
It happened in August 2010 when it hit -94.7C (-135.8F). Then on 31 July of this year, it came close again: -92.9C (-135.3F).
The old record had been -89.2C (-128.6F).

Anchorage ties record for most consecutive rainy days

Rain overnight in Anchorage pushed the number of consecutive rainy days in the city to 18 — tying a record set in September 1919, the National Weather Service reports.
As of 10 a.m. Friday, the weather service office on Sand Lake Road had measured .19 inches of rain since midnight, the agency reported.
That makes 18 straight days, starting Aug. 27, of measurable rainfall in the city. The earlier record was set in 1919, from Sept. 7 to Sept. 24. Records in the city go back to 1915.

The jet stream is setting up in a pattern that I have NEVER seen during the summer season. The flow is straight from the Canadian Arctic for the eastern US with the West under this monster hot high pressure with many Western weather stations potentially reaching all-time record high temperatures.
The jet stream map below is a forecast from this evening for this coming Tuesday evening. Note that Colorado is smack under this “highly anomalous” summer pattern.

Why? Because of weather we had nine months ago. Southcentral Alaska experienced an extremely wet fall followed directly by snow. The snow covered and insulated the ground before it could freeze very deep.
“It was a perfect overwintering blanket for insects,” Chumley said.
How perfect wasn’t immediately apparent because breakup came late this year; much of the state got smacked by a snowstorm a month ago. The extended cool weather delayed the hatchout, Chumley said. “But the minute it warmed up, all of those successfully overwintering sites produced clouds of mosquitoes.” …

OK, let’s get one thing straight. If I’d wanted to have bright, hot sunshine for weeks in a row I’d have moved to Fairbanks or Hawaii or Mexico or, if I was really desperate, Florida. If I wanted to devote an hour every morning killing mosquitoes in my office before I could work, I’d have moved to a tropical forest. If I wanted to spend my time outdoors batting wildly at my head while screaming, “Get away from me, you beasts from hell” I’d have done a remake of “Bedlam.”

(NaturalNews) Thank goodness carbon dioxide levels are finally rising ever so slightly in our atmosphere, bringing much-needed carbon dioxide to the plants and forests of the world which have been starving for CO2. The lack of CO2 in the atmosphere is one of the most devastating limiting factors for plant growth and reforestation of the planet, and at just 400ppm — that’s just 400 micrograms per kilogram — carbon dioxide is so low that Earth’s plant life can barely breathe.
Editor’s note: I have added substantially to this story since it was first published in order to attempt to educate what appear to be a mass of brainwashed, mathematically illiterate commenters on Facebook who demonstrate a wholesale inability to process information with anything resembling rationality on this subject.
Let me clarify three things before we even get into the story:
#1 – NO, I do not support the coal and oil industry, and in fact I think they are terrible polluters of our planet for lots of reasons that have nothing to do with CO2. As it turns out, all the coal and oil being burned across our world right now only slightly impacts CO2 levels, especially when compared with CO2 emissions by ocean life. So my support of CO2 as an essential plant nutrient in no way is any kind of endorsement of the oil and coal industries. My long track record of activism against corporate monopolists is irrefutably solid.
#2 – YES, CO2 is an essential plant nutrient. Despite all the idiotic beliefs of people who have been brainwashed by Al Gore into believing scientific mythologies, higher CO2 levels support faster plant growth and the re-greening of our planet, period! Anyone who disagrees with this is flatly uninformed, brainwashed or just plain ignorant of plant biology (and that’s a lot of people). Recent science is proving that rising CO2 levels are, in fact, expanding plant growth and reforestation around the world. #3 – The current level of CO2 in Earth’s atmosphere is 400ppm. By comparison, Oxygen exists in the atmosphere at 210,000ppm. When you exhale, your own breath contains 40,000ppm of CO2, and if you know anything about emergency first aid, then you know that breathing this 40,000ppm of CO2 into another person’s body (mouth-to-mouth resuscitation) is a lifesaving action. It’s not uncommon for CO2 to reach levels of 3000ppm in homes, schools and offices. OSHA allows workers to work in environments with up to 5000ppm of CO2. (Because, again, oxygen is present at 210,000ppm, vastly out-weighing the CO2.)
So all this talk of carbon dioxide threatening the entire planet at just 400ppm — less than one-half of 1/1000th of the air — is pure nonsense. Total quack science fearmongering.
In fact, most of what we’ve all been told about CO2 over the pat few years is a complete lie. It’s time to stop believing these lies and wake up to reality. Most importantly, stop defending the CO2 / global warming hoax. Yes, CO2 is rising, but it’s mostly from non-human activity, and rising levels actually support forests and plants everywhere.
How did I “wake up” to this information? It’s simple: I used to be a believer in the CO2 hoax until I really began to study plant physiology and aquaponics production. Only then did I discover that CO2 is a vital nutrient for plant growth and that levels of CO2 in the atmosphere were radically deficient for optimal reforestation and plant biology. My awakening to this in no way means I endorse coal or oil industries, both of which are dirty polluters of the planet. But I am no longer allowing myself to be conned by the likes of Al Gore who has successfully convinced far too many people that their own breath is a global pollutant that needs to be regulated and taxed.
The CO2 scam is nothing more than a global tax moneymaking scheme being pushed by people who hope to get rich off our collective guilt for a problem that’s entirely fabricated and fictional.

Throughout the history of our planet, atmospheric CO2 was much, much higher, and it supported eras of lush rainforests, rapid plant growth and far greater biodiversity than what we see today. In fact, 525 million years ago, Earth’s atmospheric CO2 levels were as high at 7,000 ppm — and far from the planet “dying” as global warming hoax pushers try to claim, it was one of the most lush and biodiverse times in our planet’s history.

CO2, you see, isn’t a “pollutant.” It’s a nutrient!
By the way, your body is 18% carbon and 65% oxygen. (I’m going to pre-empt some stupid Facebook trolls who will say, “Not true! Your body is 75% water!” by answering in advance that H2O is made of hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen has such a low atomic weight, however, that it doesn’t contribute more than about 10% to your total body mass. Then again, trying to teach science to Facebook trolls is a lot like trying to teach pigs to write javascript.)
In total, you are 83% made of the same stuff as CO2, just in a different molecular arrangement. CO2 is, of course, constantly reformed and recycled throughout the planetary ecosystem. Ocean biological activity alone produces 90 billion tons of CO2 each year — many multiples of the far smaller amount produced by human activity (about 6 billion tons). If CO2 alone caused global warming and global death, we’d all be dead by now. It turns out that CO2 actually helps fertilize the growth and restoration of plants and forests!
Ocean plants love carbon dioxide, too!
By the way, it’s not just land plants that are starving for CO2. Marine plants also need more CO2, and most marine biology came into being in a time when CO2 levels were far higher than they are today.
The higher CO2 levels are in the atmosphere, the more CO2 gets absorbed into ocean water, making it available to help marine plants thrive. This CO2, importantly, is also used to build coral reefs.
Wait a second! Haven’t we all been told that CO2 is destroying coral reefs? I used to think so, too, because I hadn’t scrutinized the science closely enough. But if you really dig into this issue, it turns out that coral reefs are largely being destroyed by toxic chemical runoff from human activity, not from CO2.
If you love plants and forests and gardens, you gotta love CO2
The bottom line in all this is that if you love plant life on planet Earth, you’ve gotta love carbon dioxide. CO2 is the key nutrient that’s needed to bolster the rapid growth of nearly all plants, and right now Earth’s atmosphere is in a state of carbon dioxide deficiency.

Late-May snow sets multiple records for Anchorage
The unseasonable snowfall Friday and Saturday has set a slew of new records in Anchorage, the National Weather Service says.
The 2012-13 snow season was 232 days long as of Saturday, the longest on record for the city, according to a Weather Service statement.
The previous record was 230 days, set in 1981-82. The season is measured from the first day of measurable snowfall – Sept. 29 this season – until the last.
The high temperature Friday was 37 degrees, which set a new daily record for the coldest maximum temperature on May 17. The old record was a high of 44 degrees in 1971, according to the Weather Service.
And finally, the 0.3 inches of snowfall on Friday in Anchorage set a daily record for May 17. Another 0.1 inches had fallen by 10 a.m. Saturday, also a daily record.

Looks like the last snow pile in our yard will melt today in Anchorage. I have been keeping track of this through the years, and have noticed that this pile is usually melted by April 15th. So our spring thaw was delayed by almost one month this year.
Alaska extended the studded snow tire removal date by one month, also.
So Mother’s Day 2013 will be the last snow in our yard. And we’re at sea level, so hillside and the mountains still have a lot of snow, and also the wooded areas. I was just hiking at Kincaid Park (right near the ocean) a few days ago, and many of the trails were covered with thick snow.
And in the recesses, the ground isn’t thawing enough for the melted snow to sink into the ground, so there are huge puddles to walk around.
We still a lot of snow in our yard in Anchorage, while I’ve found that the last snow pile is usually totally gone by April 15th. I’ve been guessing that for us, breakup has been delayed about 3 weeks, which is very significant!

Alaska drivers who had faced a deadline of today to remove their studded tires have gotten a reprieve.
They now have until May 1 to ditch the studs. That’s already the deadline for Sterling Highway communities, Anchorage and points north.
State Public Safety Commissioner Joe Masters on Tuesday issued an emergency order to extend the deadline from April 15 to May 1 because of poor road conditions.
Normally, drivers in regions including Kodiak and Southeast Alaska — everything south of 60 degrees north latitude — must have their studs off by April 15.
Anyone driving with studded tires after the deadline can be issued a ticket with a $50 fine for each tire.

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — The state has moved back the deadline to remove studded snow tires.
The Alaska Department of Public Safety says in a release the deadline has been moved to May 15 for all roads in Alaska.
This coming Wednesday was the previous deadline to remove studded tires, but the decision was made to provide safety to drivers on roads in parts of Alaska where winter continues to linger.
I love God’s creation. I always have. We need to take care of the environment, period. But the globalists are hyping the environmental issue as another way to get complete control of the people — to bring us into a global government through Agenda 21 and the global carbon taxes, that won’t be applied to China, the biggest polluter, of course.

In the first half, lecturer on new technologies, health and earth science related issues, Dr. Nick Begich, talked about HAARP and the various functions the program performs, including possible weather manipulation. In its 2010 review of grants extended from 2005 to 2010, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund admits to buying off (quite literally) so-called “non-green voices”- meaning people outside the environmental community- to sell man-made climate change doctrine to their respective communities. …
“Another arm of the octopus, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) put out a document in 2009 describing specific tricks used by the Fund to reach congregations unwilling to go along with the UN’s population control programs:
“UNFPA has found that leaders of faith ‐ and interfaith ‐ based organizations are open to discussing reproductive health, if issues are addressed with care and sensitivity.”
These “agents of change” should also be recruited to protect and promote the overall agenda “through countering misinformation campaigns and building social support within the governments for the ICPD (International Conference on Population and Development).”
The ultimate goal of these engagement efforts is clearly described:
“Create a conducive socio‐cultural environment (impacting on behaviour, attitudes and practices) to ultimately promote and mobilize key communities towards achieving the goals of the ICPD PoA (International Conference on Population and Development Programme of Action) and the MDGs (Millennium Development Goals).”
“The National Religious Partnership on the Environment is an alliance of the US Catholic Conference, Coalition on Environment and Jewish Life, National Council of Churches, and the Evangelical Environmental Network that serves more than 100 million Americans.”
Another UN front, called the Interfaith Partnership for the Environment was admittedly founded in the mid 1980s to, as the UNEP website teaches, “… inform North American congregations about the serious environmental problems facing life on earth.”
The UNFPA, as the enforcement arm of the overall infrastructure, joined with their brother- and sister-agencies in the UN to encircle the world’s religions reminiscent of a pack of hungry wolves:
“Since 2002, UNFPA has emphasized the integration of culturally sensitive approaches into programming efforts. Toward this end, it has worked closely within communities and with local agents of change, including religious leaders.”

I photograph just some of the many, many trails across Southern Colorado today, that is seems were to assist in deepening the developing trough of low pressure allowing for the storm known as Sandy to come ashore and linger longer over the Washington DC area and not as much NYC.

Why is the heartland of the United States experiencing such a horrific drought right now? At the moment, approximately 61 percent of the entire nation is experiencing drought conditions, and this is absolutely devastating farmers and ranchers all over the country. Less than two weeks ago I wrote an article asking what would happen if these drought conditions persisted, and now we are finding out. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has created the largest natural disaster area in U.S. history. The USDA has declared 1,016 counties in 26 U.S. states to be disaster areas. The USDA declaration basically covered about half of the nation, and there is now no denying how horrible this drought really is. You can see a map of this disaster area right here. This endless drought is being compared to the nightmarish drought of 1988, and if it persists into August it could become perhaps the worst drought that America has ever seen. The USDA says that approximately 60 percent of all corn in the country is experiencing “moderate to extreme” drought conditions. If this drought does not end soon, the losses are going to be mind blowing. Already, it is estimated that farmers and ranchers have suffered billions of dollars in damage. How much worse can things get?
At the beginning of July many were hoping that we would soon see some rain and that we could still see a decent corn harvest.
Unfortunately, the drought has gotten even worse since that time. The following is from an article in the Chicago Tribune….
The whole of Iowa was classified as abnormally dry as of July 10 and 12.7 percent of the top corn and soybean producing state was in severe drought, up from 0.8 percent the prior week.
Harder-hit Illinois, the No. 2 corn and soy state, was 66.28 percent under severe drought or worse, up from 40 percent the previous week.
Severe to exceptional drought covered 80.15 percent of Indiana, versus 68.84 percent the prior week.
Conditions in Missouri also deteriorated, with 82.54 percent of the state in severe drought or worse, compared with 78.83 percent the week before.
That is not good news.
