Tonight we’ll get to hear from Jackie Goforth talk about the Library Committee Hearing that happened last week & how they decided Porn is now acceptable if it matches the “Alphabet Crowds Agenda!”

NOTE: I’ve found Suzanne LaFrance to be very kind, but she’s hard left in her political ideology and voting track record.

HAMSTRINGING ANCHORAGE CHILDREN FOR LIFE!
Bot Griffin says once children are older than age 9 or 10 their minds become much less elastic and capable of being able to learn phonics. Many then try to remember whole words, instead of leaning how to pronounce syllables, so they can read all words.

About 70% of all Alaska public school students are below proficient in reading, and 77% are below proficient in math.

Anchorage School District’s YouTube video of Jay McDonald’s testimony before the Anchorage School Board yesterday in which the chair, Carl Jacobs ruled he couldn’t read their book to them during his 3 minutes. The board upheld Jacobs’ decision, with only board members Dave Donley and Andy Holleman dissenting, after Dave Donley tried to defend Jay’s right to speak. The video should automatically start at 1:05:28.

It is paradoxical that Anchorage students can read books from the school libraries, yet their parents are stopped from reading them out loud in a public forum—the school board meetings.
At a recent Anchorage School Board meeting, a citizen activist read from “This Book is Gay” and was immediately stopped by Board President Margo Bellamy because, “There are children in the audience.”
Since these books are readily available to elementary school children and condoned by the school board, why did Bellamy become upset?
Bob Griffin @ 19:10:
“There’s this neuroplasticity window that starts to close down at about 9 or 10-years old. The human brain becomes much more hardwired after about 9 or 10-years-old in acquiring skills like learning to read or decode text in particular. It becomes much more labor intensive, much more difficult if you don’t hit that window. That’s why the number one objective, the number one focus of the State Board of Education is kids learning to read at grade level by grade 3.”
If children don’t learn to read by about third grade, they’ll likely never become proficient readers because the brain loses its elasticity for language after about age 9 — which will be catastrophic for many Alaskans, because the majority in school right now can’t read very well by third grade.
Once this window shuts, it can never be reopened, because of how the brain works. We’re setting up Alaskans for failure by not having effective reading education in our public schools; though, they’re among the most expensive in the nation, even when cost of living is taken into effect, Bob Griffin says.
Low vitamin D levels is one of the main reasons, and NO ONE is talking about it!
“..reading scores are…approximately a full year of learning behind the national average, and 2.1 years behind Florida, which was third in fourth-grade reading. Only 28% of Alaska’s fourth graders were proficient in mathematics, and only 24% were proficient in reading in 2022. …
Alaska’s fourth-grade mathematics score compared to all states, Alaska ranked ahead only of New Mexico and the District of Columbia and tied with West Virginia and Delaware. …
Alaska was second to last in fourth-grade reading nationwide, ahead only of New Mexico. … For every Alaskan fourth grader proficient in reading, three are not.

Print versus digital reading

When reading texts of several hundred words or more, learning is generally more successful when it’s on paper than onscreen. A cascade of research confirms this finding. …
1:50 “This is a very simple solution to a very big problem. Unfortunately, a lot of kids are put on antidepressant medication, when I think they should just take some vitamin D.”
DATA: Depressed adolescents in a case-series were low in vitamin D and depression was ameliorated by vitamin D supplementation

A study I read recently talked about how vitamin D levels could be linked to depressed teens. A few symptoms linked to a vitamin D deficiency are sadness, hopelessness, loss of interest, loss of concentration, and even thoughts of suicide.
Potential causes of a vitamin D deficiency in teens:
• Not getting enough sun
• Not consuming enough vegetables (not enough magnesium)
• Snacking (insulin resistance blocks vitamin D)
• A high carb diet (fructose blocks vitamin D)
• Obesity (increases the need for vitamin D)
• Darker skin blocks vitamin D absorption
Other symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency:
• Achy joints
• Low back pain
• Lethargy
• Insomnia
• Anxiety
Natural remedies:
• Vitamin D (10,000 IUs)
• Magnesium
• Vitamin K2
Dr. Leana Wen, CNN medical analyst and former president of Planned Parenthood, admitted that masking her son during the COVID-19 pandemic stifled his language development and social life. She wrote in the Washington Post that she won’t be sending her children to school with masks this fall, which is in stark contrast to her previous ardent support of strict pandemic policies. She wrote that both of her children, aged five and two, have been vaccinated. Wen previously said the unvaccinated shouldn’t be able to leave their homes, showed support for vaccine passports, and called for schools to be closed for months at a time. She now says that containment of COVID-19 was not “reachable’ and the virus is here to stay.
..it’s undoubtedly necessary to note that there are many women doing great, even heroic, things for our society, and that many men are working to wreck it. But for those who associate women with instinctively protecting children or with being supportive of a traditionally religious life, this era in American history has provided something of a shock.
“Given that the word ‘God’ in the text of the Pledge of Allegiance is capitalized,” Holden told his fellow board members. “The text is clearly referring to the Judeo-Christian god and therefore, it does not include any other face such as Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, all of which are practiced by our staff and students at FPS.”
SHOCKING! Anchorage now has a woke superintendent and school board, with just one exception, the amazing Dave Donley.
The people must be WAKING UP now, despite the leftist media blackout! This made me cry — so utterly disgusting and unnecessary! Com’ on Hillside people, stand up, stand tall — fight the good fight in love! We can do better. No masks ever again. High enough vitamin D levels are the answer. No fear. Love! Walk in unity! Oust this woke, unqualified woke superintendent and woke, but not awake school board. Never again, please!
