(NaturalNews) Afghanistan is, by far, the largest grower and exporter of opium in the world today, cultivating a 92 percent market share of the global opium trade. But what may shock many is the fact that the US military has been specifically tasked with guarding Afghan poppy fields, from which opium is derived, in order to protect this multibillion dollar industry that enriches Wall Street, the CIA, MI6, and various other groups that profit big time from this illicit drug trade scheme.
Prior to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Afghanistan was hardly even a world player in growing poppy, which is used to produce both illegal heroin and pharmaceutical-grade morphine. In fact, the Taliban had been actively destroying poppy fields as part of an effort to rid the country of this harmful plant, as was reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on February 16, 2001, in a piece entitled Nation’s opium production virtually wiped out (http://news.google.com/newspapers?n…).
But after 9/11, the US military-industrial complex quickly invaded Afghanistan and began facilitating the reinstatement of the country’s poppy industry. According to the United Nations Drug Control Program (UNDCP), opium cultivation increased by 657 percent in 2002 after the US military invaded the country under the direction of then-President George W. CIA responsible for reinstating opium industry in Afghanistan after 9/11
More recently, The New York Times (NYT) reported that the brother of current Afghan President Hamid Karzai had actually been on the payroll of the CIA for at least eight years prior to this information going public in 2009. Ahmed Wali Karzai was a crucial player in reinstating the country’s opium drug trade, known as Golden Crescent, and the CIA had been financing the endeavor behind the scenes (http://www.infowars.com/ny-times-af…).
“The Golden Crescent drug trade, launched by the CIA in the early 1980s, continues to be protected by US intelligence, in liaison with NATO occupation forces and the British military,” wrote Prof. Michel Chossudovsky in a 2007 report, before it was revealed that Ahmed Wali Karzai was on the CIA payroll. “The proceeds of this lucrative multibillion dollar contraband are deposited in Western banks. But the mainstream media has been peddling a different story to the American public. FOX News, for instance, aired a propaganda piece back in 2010 claiming that military personnel are having to protect the Afghan poppy fields, rather than destroy them, in order to keep the locals happy and to avoid a potential “security risk” — and FOX News reporter Geraldo Rivera can be heard blatantly lying about poppy farmers being financially supported by the Taliban, rather than the CIA and other foreign interests.

So while tens of thousands of Americans continue to be harmed or killed every year by overdoses from drugs originating from this illicit opium trade, and while cultivation of innocuous crops like marijuana and hemp remains illegal in the US, the American military is actively guarding the very poppy fields in Afghanistan that fuel the global drug trade. Something is terribly wrong with this picture.

Members of Congress can legally make trades on non-public information they obtain during their official duties, CBS News’ ’60 Minutes’ reported on Sunday night.
Branded ‘honest graft,’ lawmakers can use market-moving information that they learn in congressional committees to trade on the stock market — actions that likely would carry stiff jail and civil penalties if they did not hold public office.
In one example, Steve Kroft reports that Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-AL), now the chair of the House Financial Services Committee, bet against the market in the days before the 2008 financial crisis hit — after getting ‘apocalyptic briefings’ from Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and then-Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson.
Kroft also raises questions about the trading patterns of Speaker of the House John Boehner and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi — and the real estate purchases of other senators and representatives.
The report relies heavily on the work of Peter Schweizer, a fellow at the conservative Hoover Institution, whose work ’60 Minutes’ independently verified.

I was reading a thread on Facebook, and realized I haven’t yet addressed this important topic.
The discussion is often about whether prayer should be allowed in schools, but to me the bigger issue is whether we should even have federally controlled schools, which is unconstitutional.
And I have long thought that whether public prayer is allowed or not is minor compared to teaching the religious belief in evolution as fact, which can actually be disproved with facts; though, these facts aren’t taught. Teaching evolution as fact teaches children that the book of Genesis is erroneous, and we’re just like animals — so ~“why not just do it like they do it on the Discovery Channel” — which sex education helps happen.

As the war over education reform — Goals 2000, school-to-work, and “outcome-based education” — rages on, the time is more than ripe to ask ourselves, “Are public schools constitutional?”
Looking at the United States Constitution, no provision is made for education, but the Constitution does instruct that … “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” (Tenth Amendment) In other words, education is reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Why, then, do we have a cabinet level United States Department of Education (US DOE)? Does this not violate the U.S. Constitution? In a word, “yes.” The US DOE was established under the Carter Administration as a political payoff to the teacher unions for their support of Jimmy Carter for president.

Desperate to derail Ron Paul’s momentum in New Hampshire, the key early primary state in which polls show Paul has a very real chance of winning, the establishment has thrown its weight behind Newt Gingrich, the ultimate RINO globalist who in reality is about as conservative as Mao Tse-tung.
With the campaigns of Mitt Romney and Rick Perry collapsing, the editorial board of the New Hampshire Union Leader chose to endorse Gingrich on Sunday, a move that the mainstream press immediately hailed as all-important, attempting to bestow kingmaker status on a relatively irrelevant newspaper in the grand scheme of things.
The anointment of Gingrich as Republican frontrunner is just the latest desperate bid to fool voters into supporting anyone other than Ron Paul. From Perry, to Romney, to Cain – the establishment has attempted to crown all of them as top dog – failing every time as each campaign subsequently crashes and burns.
Gingrich will inevitably follow suit because he has more skeletons in the closet than a halloween costume shop. Newt Gingrich is Mr. New World Order – a committed globalist who has publicly made clear his contempt for American sovereignty and freedom on a plethora of occasions, not least when he joined forces with Nancy Pelosi to push the Obama administration’s cap and trade agenda that would have completely bankrupted the country.
“I think if you have mandatory carbon caps combined with a trading system, much like we did with sulfur, and if you have a tax-incentive program for investing in the solutions, that there’s a package there that’s very, very good,” Gingrich told PBS Frontline in February 2007.
And if you think that doesn’t sound bad enough, just wait until you read what Gingrich had to say about mandatory health insurance.
“Personal responsibility extends to the purchase of health insurance. Citizens should not be able to cheat their neighbors by not buying insurance, particularly when they can afford it, and expect others to pay for their care when they need it,” he wrote in a 2007 OpEd for the Des Moines Register.
That’s right – self-proclaimed “conservative” Gingrich is an aggressive supporter of Obamacare, just like his rival Mitt Romney.
Gingrich has also been instrumental in pushing political frameworks with the goal of accomplishing global governance.
As Attorney Constance Cumbey writes, Gingrich worked feverishly with his buddy Al Gore back in the mid-90′s to help create the embryonic architecture of a global parliamentary authority.
Gingrich’s support for NAFTA, GATT, and the WTO entrenched his position as an enthusiastic advocate of globalism and sending American jobs abroad, the “giant sucking sound,” as Ross Perot labeled it It was Gingrich who helped Bill Clinton and the Democrats garner enough votes from Republicans to pass the North American Free Trade Agreement, which is now quickly evolving into the North American Union.
Gingrich’s Council on Foreign Relations membership and his close relationship with his mentor Henry Kissinger cements his role as a key agitator for the destruction of U.S. sovereignty. Indeed, during a July 1995 speech, he openly decried the constitution as being a roadblock to a UN-managed global government.
“The American challenge in leading the world is compounded by our Constitution,” he said. “Under our [constitutional system] – either we’re going to have to rethink our Constitution, or we’re going to have to rethink our process of decision-making.” He went on to profess an oxymoronic belief in “very strong but limited federal government,” and pledged, “I am for the United Nations.”
“In order to understand just how dedicated Gingrich is to destroying the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, consider that he described himself as a “conservative futurist” who enthusiastically recommended as Speaker of the House his colleagues read Alvin Toffler’s 1980 book The Third Wave,” writes Kurt Nimmo.
“In the book, Toffler wrote a letter to America’s “founding parents,” in which he said: “The system of government you fashioned, including the very principles on which you based it, is increasingly obsolete, and hence increasingly, if inadvertently, oppressive and dangerous to our welfare. It must be radically changed and a new system of government invented – a democracy for the 21st century.” According to Toffler, our constitutional system is one that “served us so well for so long, and that now must, in its turn, die and be replaced.””
The shudder-inducing thought of Newt Gingrich in the White House makes the prospect of a second term for Obama look positively inviting.
At least we know what to expect from Obama. Gingrich is that most dangerous kind of political animal – a wolf in sheep’s clothing – being able to harness the ability of sweet-talking conservatives into calm acquiescence while simultaneously sacrificing America on the altar of globalism.

This Austrian coaster reminds me of the Alpine Slide at Lutsen Ski Resort in northern Minnesota, on the north shore of Lake Superior, which I’ve run with no brakes (and fully on the wheels), when it first opened in 1977.
This Mieders coaster must be a total gas, being in a whole other speed category and much longer, but all you do is hold on (probably good to lean into the turns though too). Whereas, Lutsen’s Alpine Slide (more like a bobsled track with banks) was a real rush too, because it required anticipatory leaning into the turns by the correct amount, and especially at the right time in order to hit the banks just right and to avoid the danger of flying off of the sled, when running fully on the wheels, not using the brakes at all or the plastic sliders.
And as you can see in the video, Lutsen can only be run wide open when it’s not busy. You can see how fast slower riders are approached — when the fun is cut from maximum to “bummer.”
Though it’s been 34 years, it’s possible Lutsen’s Alpine Slide hasn’t been changed at all, as it was very solidly built.
I can remember parts of the ride like it was yesterday. We’ve been blessed!

This is a single-pipe alpine coaster in Mieders, Austria. You reach the summit via a cablecar and then sit on a small car with a brake lever and off you go. Having ridden it once using a little braking, I decided to try it a second time without using the brakes. This is SCARY! Enjoy the ride!

I have never, ever called a police officer a pig. In fact, I ellipsed the word ‘pig’ out from a recent post, but I can see how Officer Pike was not acting like a human created in God’s image when he pepper sprayed the peacefully protesting students at UC Davis.

Pepper Spray Developer Denounces Use by UC Davis Police
The criticism over UC Davis’ police dousing non-violent protesters with pepper spray has extended to the man who invented the crowd-control device.
Kamran Loghman helped develop pepper spray into a weapons-grade material while working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the 1980s. After seeing how his invention was used against student demonstrators in Davis, Loghman said police violated his original intent.
“I have never seen such an inappropriate and improper use of chemical agents,” Loghman told The New York Times.
Having helped police departments develop guidelines for using pepper spray, Loghman said pepper spray is appropriate only if a person is physically threatening a police officer or another person.
Some of the Davis students who were subjected to the spray are considering suing the university, and there have been widespread calls for the school’s chancellor, Linda Katehi, to resign. The university police chief, Annette Spicuzza, has been placed on administrative leave, as have pepper-spraying policeman John Pike and another officer.

A PESSIMISTIC OR REALISTIC SCENARIO?

A banking crisis and massive bailouts have already come to pass. The still unfolding scenario includes hyperinflation. collapse of the economy, a new global currency, domestic violence, U.N. “Peacekeeping” forces in the U.S., and the arrival of high-tech feudalism. Details at page 537 to 564 (Creature from Jekyll Island).
There is no optimistic scenario. Events have progressed to far for that. Even if we begin to turn things around by forcing Congress to cut spending and reduce the debt and disentangle from UN treaties, The Cabal will not let go without a ferocious fight. When the Second Bank of the United States was struggling for its life in 1834 Nicholas Biddle, who controlled it, set about to cause as much havoc in the economy as possible and then to blame it on President Jackson’s anti-bank policies. By suddenly tightening credit and withdrawing money from circulation, he triggered a full scale national depression. At the height of his attack, he declared; “All other banks and all the merchants may break, but the Bank of the United States shall not break.” The amount of devastation that could be caused by today’s Federal reserve is infinitely greater than what Biddle as able to unleash. It would be pure self-deception to think that the Cabal would give up its power without exercising that option. We must conclude that no one is going to get out of this unscathed. There is hell to pay, and it is we who are going to pay it.
What has this go to do with the Federal reserve System? The answer is that the Federal reserve is the starting point of the pessimistic scenario. The chain of events starts with fiat money created by the central bank which leads to government debt, which causes inflation, which destroys the economy, which impoverishes the people, which provides an excuse for increasing government power, which is an ongoing process culminating in totalitarianism,Eliminate the Federal reserve from this equation and the pessimistic scenario ceases to exist. That is the seventh and final reason to abolish the Fed. It is an instrument of totalitarianism.
Is it realistic to realistic to believe that the current trends can actually be reversed ? Isn’t it just fantasy to think that anything can be done at the late date to break the CFR’s hold over government, media, and education? do we really expect the gum chewing public to go upstream against the indoctrination of newspapers, magazines, television and movies?
The battle has progressed far and our position is not good. if we are to reverse the present trends we must be prepared to make a herculean effort. If you want to know what must be done first read pages 567 to 572. So much for things not to do. There are certain things that must precede abandonment of the Fed if we are to have a safe passage. Read pages 573 to 588 of fifth edition (24th printing ) The Creature From Jekyll Island.

(NaturalNews) Literal beacons of the “green” energy movement, giant wind turbines have been one of the renewable energy sources of choice for the US government, which has spent billions of taxpayer dollars subsidizing their construction and use across the country. But high maintenance costs, high rates of failure, and fluctuating weather conditions that affect energy production render wind turbines expensive and inefficient, which is why more than 14,000 of them have since been abandoned.
Before government subsidies for the giant metals were cut or eliminated in many areas, wind farms were an energy boom business. But in the post-tax subsidy era, the costs of maintaining and operating wind turbines far outweighs the minimal power they generate in many areas, which has left a patchwork of wind turbine graveyards in many of the most popular wind farming areas of the US.
“Thousands of abandoned wind turbines littered the landscape of wind energy’s California ‘big three’ locations which include Altamont Pass, Tehachapin and San Gorgonio, considered among the world’s best wind sites,” writes Andrew Walden of the American Thinker. “In the best wind spots on earth, over 14,000 turbines were simply abandoned. Spinning, post-industrial junk which generates nothing but bird kills.”
Walden speaks, of course, about the birds, bats, and other air creatures that routinely get tangled in and killed by wind turbine propellers. And as far as the “post-industrial junk” language, well, if it costs too much to run the machines in the first place, then it definitely costs too much to uproot and remove them post-construction.
This whole wind energy mess just further illustrates how the American people have been played by their elected officials who bought into the “global warming” hysteria that spawned the push for wind energy in the first place. And now that the renewable energy tax subsidies are gradually coming to an end in some places, the true financial and economic viability, or lack of wind energy, is on display for the world to see.
“It is all about the tax subsidies,” writes Don Surber of the Charleston Daily Mail. “The blades churn until the money runs out. If an honest history is written about the turn of the 21st century, it will include a large, harsh chapter on how fears about global warming were overplayed for profit by corporations.”
