Romney Surrounded by Pro-U.N. Lobbyists

Insisting that he is a Washington outsider, Mitt Romney has been captured on tape arguing with a reporter about whether a Washington lobbyist named Ron Kaufman runs or just advises his campaign for president. The more important issue is what Kaufman lobbies for. It turns out that Kaufman’s firm, as well as another Romney adviser, Vin Weber, have worked to put more American taxpayer dollars into the coffers of the corrupt United Nations and other international agencies.

N.Y. Times Censors Ron Paul

This is the third piece I have written today about the blatent and disgusting censorship of Ron Paul aftebeat John McCain today and finished second in all voting in Nevada’s primary.Ron Paul finished second today beating McCain, Thompson, Giuliani and Huckabee in Nevada.

yet the rag newspaper New York Times found a way to continue to ignore Ron Paul.

The “official results page” on the New York Times website does not even list Ron Paul as a candidate.

MSNBC Disgraceful Towards Ron Paul

Just 2 minutes ago I am watching the MSNBC coverage of the Nevada primary…. They then flash Obama, Hillary and Edwards graphic up showing 48%, 46% and 5% for Edwards. They then show the Republican numbers and only show two candidates numbers in their NEW GRAPHIC.

For the first time in all the primaries they decide to use a “top 2″ candidate graphic, because Ron Paul is a very close third place with 12%. In all other primaries they show the top three in their default graphic, and for the first time in all the coverage they decide its time to use just the top 2. They still show the top three in the Democrat race, event though Edwards is 36 POINTS behind the second place slot of Hillary, But the don’t show Ron Paul third when he is only 1% behind being in second place.

Presidential candidate/pastor Mike Huckabee speaking yesterday to supporters at Columbia, South Carolina:

“I just wanted to tell you, I wanted to go ahead and get you sort of tuned in to the next secretary of Homeland Security, Rick Flair. [applause]

Actually, what we’re gonna do tomorrow, we’re going to all the polling places.

Everybody that votes for us [pause] will get our thanks.

Those who don’t, Rick’s going to take you down! [applause]”

Two more shots

Just love those laser guided bombs
They’re really great
For righting wrongs
You hit the target
And win the game
From bars 3,000 miles away
3,000 miles away
We play the game
With the bravery of being out of range
We zap and maim
With the bravery of being out of range
We strafe the train
With the bravery of being out of range
We gain terrain
With the bravery of being out of range

The media’s manipulation of these wars and now Ron Paul’s campaign amounts to pure, unconstitutional censorship.

[Skousen] Election Central: Romney—The One to Stop

ELECTION CENTRAL: ROMNEY–THE ONE TO STOP

With a solid win in the Michigan primary, supposedly a “make it or break it” contest for Romney, the establishment is now going to have it’s hands full trying to stop the surge for Romney. The media claimed Romney’s grasp of the economy was what propelled him to victory in Michigan. Not so. It was just bad, old-fashioned pandering to a depressed economic area, promising federal help-though avoiding the word “bailout.” Romney is not taking the high road of a Ron Paul, who would never stoop to promising benefits. This, sadly, makes Ron Paul less electable and easier for the establishment to dismiss. But Romney is playing the establishment game with the best, and that is the establishment’s problem. As Romney tries to appeal to a wide audience, the election insiders are having to promote 3 different candidates, in different ways and at different times, in order to stop various aspects of the Romney appeal.

Supreme Court denies Kucinich bid to get on Texas primary ballot

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed Texas to print presidential primary ballots without Democratic candidate Dennis Kucinich’s name.

The court refused to step into a dispute between Kucinich and the Texas Democratic Party over a loyalty oath all candidates must sign to make the ballot.

Kucinich and singer-supporter Willie Nelson objected to the party oath that a presidential candidate must “fully support” the party’s eventual nominee. Kucinich crossed out the oath when he filed for a spot on the primary ballot.

Gold hits record high after Bernanke announced rate cuts that will increase inflation

NEW YORK (AP) – Gold soared to a record high Thursday after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke pledged to cut interest rates, undermining the dollar and boosting demand for the metal as a safe investment.

Other precious metals traded mixed, and agricultural futures fell.

Bernanke said the central bank was ready to act aggressively to prevent the economy, weakened by turmoil in the housing and credit markets, from sliding into a recession.

Some economists predict the Fed will slash its key interest rate by a half percentage point it meets Jan. 29-30. Others expect a more modest quarter percentage point cut, in light of high energy prices and inflation worries.

An ounce of gold for February delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange jumped to $897.30, a fresh high, before easing back to $892.80, up $11.10.

Winthrop: Controlled by a Power Within or by a Power Without?

On May 28th, 1849, Robert C. Winthrop (1809–1894), descendant of Governor John Winthrop, first governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony, addressed the Annual Meeting of the Massachusetts Bible Society in Boston with these words:

All societies of men must be governed in some way or other.

The less they may have of stringent State Government, the more they must have of individual self-government.

The less they rely on public law or physical force, the more they must rely on private moral restraint.

Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled, either by a power within them, or by a power without them; either by the word of God, or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible, or by the bayonet.

It may do for other countries and other governments to talk about the State supporting religion. Here, under our own free institutions, it is Religion which must support the State.1

Ron Paul, Bibles and Bayonets

This article addresses the long-term significance of the Ron Paul phenomenon from the point of view of his Christian supporters. It points out the need for specifically Christian support of the movement.

by Lou Poumakis
(Libertarian)

The primary thrust of Ron Paul campaign is for personal freedom for all Americans. His methodology for realizing that freedom is to reestablish the Constitution as the law of the land. That will lead to fiscal responsibility, the cessation of imperialism and the demise of the welfare state. It would free us all from the tyranny we are already feeling and the far worse tyranny that is in the offing. It is a noble goal and well worth supporting with all the energy we can muster. The question I must ask at this point though, is whether or not the American people are really ready for such a freedom. I direct this question especially to the Christian segment of Ron Paul supporters and to Christians as a whole. As a Christian myself, I believe we should go to God’s word to see what it has to say about freedom.

Is Plastic Making People Fat?

Being fat has long been seen as a personal problem, fixed only by struggling against the proliferation of fast food restaurants, unlucky genes, and a sedentary life. But could something in the environment also be making Americans fat in epidemic numbers?

Animal studies in recent years raise the possibility that prenatal exposure to minuscule amounts of common chemicals – found in everything from baby bottles to toys – could predispose a body to a life of weight gain. The chemicals, known as endocrine disrupters, mimic natural hormones that help regulate, for example, how many fat cells a body makes and how much fat to store in them. …

A recent US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study found that about 93 percent of the US population had bisphenol A, a chemical that can be found in canned goods and in hard, clear plastic items such as baby bottles and hiking containers, in their body. A study at the University of Missouri-Columbia showed that mice fed bisphenol A during early development – at lower amounts than what would have resulted in the levels found in most people in the CDC study – become markedly more obese as adults than those that weren’t fed the chemical. Tufts University scientists observed similar phenomenon in rats.

Skousen: Ron Paul Drops Ball on 9/11—A Suggestion

World Affairs Brief, January 18, 2008. Commentary and Insights on a Troubled World.

RON PAUL DROPS BALL ON 9/11

A lot of Ron Paul supporters were disappointed by Ron’s failure to defend them against the poisonous trap/questions posed to him about 9/11 conspiracy theories (in both the Glen Beck interview and the latest Michigan debate). Ron, obviously trying to evade being labeled a “conspiracy theorist” –the whole purpose behind these questions–said he did not believe the government was behind the attacks. Many who have joined the movement because no establishment candidate will listen to their challenges felt betrayed by Ron’s lack of knowledge on the subject and his blanket rejection. I talked to Ron’s campaign manager Lew Moore and he is aware of the disappointment and feels bad about it. He assured me that Ron has mentioned on numerous other occasions that if elected, he would open a new investigation and make sure that the 9/11 Truth Movement is represented.

Clearly, the Ron Paul campaign has made a tactical decision to avoid openly siding with the conspiracy issue, but it should be enough for his supporters to know that he would support an open investigation. He could have said that, citing the numerous flaws in the 9/11 Commission Report, as he has before in lesser venues, but in the heat of being pressed about it on national TV, he failed to do so. In one CNN poll, a whopping 89% indicated they believe the US Government was covering something up in 9/11. That doesn’t mean they believe in a major conspiracy (which takes a lot of courage and knowledge to defend) but it does show to what degree people realize the government is covering for something.

Letter: ‘Fair and balanced,’ except for Paul

Letter: ‘Fair and balanced,’ except for Paul

January 16, 2008 – 12:01 AM

I cannot believe the degree of blatant bias that Fox News showed at the recent GOP debate in South Carolina. Their “mediators” asked the “top tier” candidates about their views on important issues, while using each question to Ron Paul as an opportunity to discredit him.

They asked Mike Huckabee about his views on the economy and his associated plans, then turned and asked Paul about some of his supporters who believe 9/11 was an inside job. They even had the nerve to ask Paul, “When it comes to electability…do you have any?” This drew laughter from the other candidates and some audience members. Paul was able to turn the question around on them, drawing huge applause from the crowd.

So now “Faux” News has edited that question out of the re-aired debate. This treatment happening just days after they decided to exclude Paul from their debate in New Hampshire because he wasn’t a “viable” candidate. That seemed awfully strange to me, seeing as they invited Rudy Giuliani, whom Paul beat in the Iowa caucuses by 6 percent.

How is it that a news organization whose motto is “fair and balanced” can get away with treating Ron Paul like this? It makes me angry that more people are not up in arms at Fox’s attempt to influence the masses through the facade of honest reporting. Fox News is nothing more than a neo-con propaganda machine.

Oberstar: NWA/Delta Merger Would Create Too Much Consolidation

From: Star Tribune, 1/16/08

U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar, D-Minn., said Wednesday that he doesn’t favor any mergers now because “we have an appropriate balance of competition in the aviation market.”

Oberstar, chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, met with two Northwest executives Tuesday about the carrier’s merger talks with Delta and the effects of a Delta-Northwest deal.

“We did not deregulate aviation in 1978 to create consolidation of the industry, but rather to expand competition,” Oberstar told reporters Wednesday.

Asked whether he would oppose a Delta-Northwest deal, Oberstar said, “I don’t think mergers are in the best public interest, and that includes this one.”

While a merger might increase competitors’ flights into the Twin Cities, a Delta acquisition of Northwest likely would mean the closing of the Northwest headquarters in Eagan….
