Wisconsin: Protestors take control of the state capitol, and 14 Democrat Senators flee the state to prevent the legislature from functioning. The issue behind this is that the Governor introduced a bill (supported by the Republican majority) to balance the budget by requiring state employees to pay a larger share of their own pension and healthcare costs and by reducing power of the state-employee union. Other options to balance the budget are (1) increase taxes or (2) request an ongoing and never-ending bailout by the federal government (via taxpayers) which will increase federal control.
