Skousen: Stevens Only One of Many Financially Corrupt Senators

STEVENS ONLY ONE OF MANY FINANCIALLY CORRUPT SENATORS

Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) certainly knows how to bring home the bacon to his home state of Alaska, not to mention ego-maniacal monuments to his own name like the now infamous “bridge to nowhere”. He secured the funding from Congress and demanded it be named in his honor. This $400 million boondoggle was going to connect Ketchican to Gravina Island-population 50. Stevens, the longest serving politician currently in the Senate continues to get elected because of his ability to bring Alaska money, but he can’t accomplish his mega-pork agenda without trading favors with other politicians and business interests as well. Several other Senators are regular recipients of his election PAC money.

Stevens as well as four other state politicians in Alaska (including his son) are under indictment for accepting in-kind payments in exchange for political favors. Trading favors has been going on since the days of the Republic but Stevens took it to a whole new level. Only a tiny portion of his corruption is represented by the indictment over Stevens accepting a few hundred thousand dollars in remodeling upgrades to his house by a big oil contractor in exchange for special treatment. The government has intercepted emails acknowledging the free work, and can only get Stevens on a charge of failure to declare this as a gift-a relatively minor offense. If the government were really serious about getting Stevens, they would encourage an IRS tax evasion charge–shades of Al Capone.

Stevens was a major player in the establishment control of Congress, and others like Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have been made wealthy by insider connections. So why is Stevens being threatened with prosecution? How did he lose his de facto immunity? I can detect no betrayal on his part of the establishment line, but perhaps he simply got greedy. The establishment tends to want their boys dependent on them for financial favors. Stevens was free-lancing and making deals under the table everywhere he could and simply got caught. He’s been a major player in Alaska law and politics for over 50 years. He’s a political machine unto himself.

It’s interesting now to watch all his friends in Congress abandon him like rats scurrying off a sinking ship. As Manu Raju and Aaron Blake reported, “Republicans rushed Wednesday to distance themselves from Sen. Ted Stevens as the longest-serving GOP senator’s career plunged deeper into turmoil…. the reelection campaign of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) announced that it would donate $10,000 received from Stevens to a Christian mission in the senator’s home state of Kentucky.” There are others too. John McCain donate Steven’s contribution to a charity. Doesn’t the media find it a little strange that one Senator is giving $10,000 to several other politicians? It’s supposed to be all right now that McConnell and McCain (there are others) are divesting themselves of these gifts. I think the basic purpose of these divesting moves is to give the Senate a excuse NOT to investigate Steven’s collusion with these other politicians.

US SPREADING TORTURE DOCTRINES AND TECHNIQUES

Sadly it is no time to celebrate liberty in America, except as an important historical footnote.  Patriotic fervor is only displayed in mindless and expensive fireworks extravaganzas mixed with country and rock concerts. Predictably, they all focus on supporting the troops in Iraq.  The general public knows little about what is really happening to our nation and most are ignorant of what made this country both free and great–strict constitutional limitations on government power.  Having dismantled those restrictions over the last 200 years our government is now becoming the Evil Empire of the world as it spreads violence abroad in the name of intervention and occupation.  At home, essential civil liberties of privacy and freedom from warrantless search and seizure are under assault by those who have falsely sworn an oath to uphold these constitutional guarantees. The dark side of government is engaged in torturing prisoners and spreading their sophisticated versions of that evil to eager tyrants in other lands. This week the news broke that the Mexican public is in an uproar over videos showing Mexican police practicing torture techniques on fellow officers in preparation for use on the public—under the watchful eye of an American advisor.  Leon city Police Chief Carlos Tornero told the AP that “the English-speaking man in the videos is a contractor from a private US security firm.”July 4, 2008 Once again, we see the increasing role of US mercenaries helping our own government spread torture while maintaining “plausible deniability.”

This week the NY Times broke the story that “…military trainers who came to Guantánamo Bay in December 2002 based an entire interrogation class on a chart showing the effects of ‘coercive management techniques’ for possible use on prisoners, including ‘sleep deprivation,’ ‘prolonged constraint,’ and ‘exposure.’ What the trainers did not say, and may not have known, was that their chart had been copied verbatim from a 1957 Air Force study of Chinese Communist techniques used during the Korean War to obtain confessions, many of them false, from American prisoners

Skousen: Government Keeps Energy Bottled Up (Including Solar)

GOVERNMENT KEEPS ENERGY BOTTLED UP

Despite public outrage on the obvious manipulation of gas and oil prices, the government does nothing to prosecute this collusion. It also is doing nothing to open up US oil reserves either offshore or in Alaska. While the President made a token call to open up the Arctic National Wilderness Reserve (ANWR) he did so only to make a political statement, knowing that the Senate would reject it–which they did. The footprint of the proposed drilling site is so small and in such a barren area of the ANWR that no credible argument can be made that this will lead to an environmental catastrophe. See ANWR.org for details on the bogus environmental issues. Even shale oil reserves, which have become viable for oil extraction at current prices, are still locked up by government.

All this may seem excusable given elected politician’s fear of offending the powerful environmental lobbies (supported by both the public purse and major corporate donors trying to make themselves look green). But now we find the government further hindering solar development on raw desert land–prime locations for solar farms.

Dan Frosch of the NY Times writes that “Faced with a surge in the number of proposed solar power plants, the federal government has placed a moratorium on new solar projects on public land until it studies their environmental impact, which is expected to take about two years. The Bureau of Land Management says an extensive environmental study is needed to determine how large solar plants might affect millions of acres it oversees in six Western states —- Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.” That’s bogus. Such environmental studies have long been done on desert land, and it doesn’t take two years to factor in the slight variations from one desert locale to another.

“‘It doesn’t make any sense,’ said Holly Gordon, vice president for legislative and regulatory affairs for Ausra, a solar thermal energy company in Palo Alto, Calif. ‘The Bureau of Land Management land has some of the best solar resources in the world. This could completely stunt the growth of the industry.'” Is this conspiracy or stupidity? The government uses emergency powers to blast through anything they really want to do, and yet with energy, be it solar, nuclear, coal, oil, or gas, they are dragging their feet. I believe there is a hidden agenda to create an energy crisis–to justify some yet-to-be-seen “solution.”

OIL PRICES: MARKET AND MANIPULATIVE FORCES AT WORK

The price of oil and gasoline continues to rocket upward even as demand for gasoline wanes. Miles driven by American motorists have actually dropped over 4% compared to last year.  High gasoline prices are having their effect and there is still a lot more cost cutting to come as people scramble to buy more fuel efficient vehicles.   Overall, demand for oil is increasing, but the rate of increase is slowing, even in China and India where the masses are finally now beginning to have access to personal vehicles.  Sadly, the budding personal car movement in third world countries is about to be snuffed out as rising prices threaten to dampen demand for all but the wealthy.  There are definitely some pernicious, non free-market forces at work here as the demand curve for oil is nowhere near as steep as the rising price of oil.  This week I’ll help you analyze what is happening.

HOW TO ADAPT TO HIGH GAS PRICES AS THEY IMPACT THE ECONOMY

In one of the most outrageous examples of price gouging ever witnessed, fuel prices have risen almost 10 cents per gallon per week now for more than a month. The American consumer is being held hostage to an economic and personal lifestyle that was established a century ago based upon an abundance of cheap oil and is now locked into our economic infrastructure. Most people have no ability to escape what is now upon us and getting worse. All of our cities are developed around the commuting lifestyle, allowing Americans to live in rural or suburban openness to escape pollution and city overcrowding. We travel long distances on fast freeways to get to work and none of that can be changed quickly. We never did like the European style of city living, with millions crammed into high rise city apartments, with gas prices so high that only the wealthy could afford a personal vehicle. But now it appears the Powers That Be are forcing that urban lifestyle upon us: mass transportation, high density urban dwellings, water rationing, zero-scape yards, and runaway inflation. We have a duty to both resist and adapt. This week, I’ll give some practical tips on how to adapt to avoid some of the pain.

MORE ON GAS PRICE MANIPULATION

It’s well and good that Congress vote to stop filling the US Strategic Oil reserve because the US already has billions of barrels in the ground in Alaska–entire oil fields capped and drilled, but kept off the market.  The filling of the Strategic Petroleum reserve is merely one more attempt to keep fuel in short supply.  I will be blunt.  There is a conspiracy to raise fuel prices and it is pernicious.  No one is targeting the collusion we see daily between the oil companies.

Fred Cederholm in a Baltimore Blog noted these careful observations during the latest and suspicious run up in gas prices–too rapid and too well coordinated to be a result of natural market demands.  “It must have been some pricing strategy by all of the fuel retailers because the spike [of 13 cents a gallon] occurred everywhere, regardless of the company or the brand, at almost the same moment [within 2 hours]… I had already been on-line checking world-wide news and developments when a friend and neighbor stopped at the house to tell me I had better fill up immediately because a price jump was coming. I logged off and topped off my gas supplies for all of my fuel thirsty vehicles and gizmos. I then went back on-line to find out why the spike occurred. I found not one single development, catastrophe, or explanation. I found nothing to justify the jump!”  Later, the media will always be fed some event used to justify the increase, just like their servile explanations that “the stock market rose today due to some company performing better than expected.”   Nonsense.

Skousen: Bob Barr’s Libertarian Run for President

World Affairs Brief, May 16, 2008. Commentary and Insights on a Troubled World.

BOB BARR’S LIBERTARIAN RUN FOR PRESIDENT

Former CIA man and Republican Congressman Bob Barr says he has launched a committee to seek the presidential nomination of the Libertarian Party.  He is no shoe-in by any means.  His main competition is former Alaskan Democratic Representative Mike Gravel, who has a lot of support in the Libertarian community.  Barr has high ratings from the NRA and is noted for his sponsorship of the Marriage Defense Act of 1996 which appeals to conservatives but not all Libertarian Party members.  He is clearly seeking to woo Ron Paul supporters to his cause.

Barr’s problem in convincing Ron Paul supporters to come his way has more to do with his dubious moral character than with his stated positions.  Paul supporters are used to dealing with a champion who has unimpeachable moral standards in both his public and private life.  Barr’s record is severely tarnished, and as conservatives know, politicians with lots of moral skeletons in their closet can be leaned on by the Powers That Be. As a brief summary, Bob has been married 3 times and had has been accused of having extra-marital affairs leading to the breakup of two of those marriages.  According to Barr’s second wife Gail Barr, the would-be-champion of the pro-life movement paid for and did not object to her having an abortion in 1983.  He was also having a secret affair with his current wife while Gail Barr was undergoing cancer treatment (shades of Newt Gingrich and John McCain).  Barr is also reported to have failed to pay child support to the children of his first two wives and “while married to his third and present wife was photographed licking whipped cream off of a few chesty strippers at his inaugural party… for charity.”

Nevertheless, the GOP is mildly worried that a Barr candidacy could siphon off votes from John McCain in the November election.  The Washington Times reported that various mid-level Republican leaders have tried to discourage him from running against McCain–for the sake of conservative unity.  But Barr counters, “In the month since we formed our exploratory committee, not a single Republican who has spoken with me to try and convince me not to seek the Libertarian nomination has disagreed with my reasons for considering a run.”  The Times also quoted him as saying, “Most Republicans who asked him not to run ‘also said they understand why I’d run and why John McCain is not conservative and will not seriously tackle the growth in government power and spending,’ he said. ‘Some said they would vote for me if I ran, but for the sake of the Republican Party, they would prefer I didn’t.'” Interesting.

Barr is also not nearly as ideologically consistent as Ron Paul.  Ben Pershing writes that “if Barr really is disillusioned with the two major parties, he hasn’t shown it with his wallet… Barr has continued to exercise his inherent right to dole out campaign cash, and his political action committee — now known as the Bob Barr Leadership Fund — has contributed money to roughly two-dozen Republican members of Congress, according to Federal Election Commission records. Recipients of Barr’s largess have included some decidedly moderate, non-Libertarian types like GOP Reps. Christopher Shays (Conn.) and Deborah Pryce (Ohio) and Sen. Norm Coleman (Minn.)…[His] his last recorded PAC contribution, made in February, went to … a Democrat: Rep. Tom Allen, a candidate for Senate in Maine.”

ELECTION MANIPULATION: NEVADA GOP SABOTAGES RON PAUL DELEGATE VOTE

The Republican Party has a real problem with Ron Paul. He just won’t go away quietly. He is still a candidate for President. He hasn’t conceded or dropped out–despite media wishful thinking. Best of all, he refuses to endorse front runner John McCain, the worst warmongering candidate of the entire Republican field. Frankly, Dr. Paul both scares and embarrasses the Republican leadership. They are afraid that if he gets any momentum or significant number of delegates to the convention they will have to let him make a major address on prime time TV and thus more converts. And, Dr. Paul is certainly capable of making converts. He takes all the traditional positions the Republican Party was built upon and that core Republican voters love: small and limited federal government, low regulation, non-aggressive foreign policy, honest money, anti-abortion, and pro-family values. The Republican National Committee wants him to go away so they can get on with the promotion of Sen. John McCain-a totally dishonest and corrupt insider, according to his own son–and continue the hidden globalist agenda which now rules the Party at the highest levels. This week in the Nevada GOP convention, the party leadership shut down the convention when it became obvious that Ron Paul supporters outnumbered those loyal to party leaders who wanted to elect only McCain delegates to the national convention–even though Romney won the primary and Paul came in second, above McCain. It’s as if they are saying, “If we don’t like the results of the vote, we’ll adjourn till we can muster enough of our people to outnumber you!”

Here’s the best account of what happened by C. Bunce of the Daily Paul online newsletter. It is specific enough to show my readers just how evil this really was and who did it [edited for clarity].

Skousen: Chuck Baldwin Wins Constitution Party Nomination for President

CHUCK BALDWIN WINS CONSTITUTION PARTY NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT

I was delighted to hear that Pastor Chuck Baldwin won the Constitution Party nomination for president over the very talented Alan Keyes.   Alan Keyes is a good man. He ran against Barak Obama for the Senate race in Illinois, but his being part of the black minority didn’t help him garner any endorsements from the establishment.  He was TOO conservative and the media hates black conservatives.  Keyes is a dynamic speaker with few peers, but (in my opinion) sometimes plays to the audience too much with catchy phrases designed mostly to drum up applause and trigger religious fervor-at the expense of more substantive discussions.  These kinds of speeches play well to the conservative-Christian choir and provide political excitement, but ultimately narrows the candidates appeal by turning away those who aren’t interested in organized religion or who are suspicious of a flamboyant preacher-type style.

In the brief of April 18th, I brought up the problem of the traditional political approach of the Constitutional Party being too narrowly focused on its core supporters–all ardent evangelical Christians.  If the party is going to grow it needs to more closely emulate Ron Paul’s approach by championing liberty for all without excessive religious rhetoric in speeches–which makes non religious conservatives uncomfortable about using the role of government to enforce religious values (where there is no violation of fundamental rights to life, liberty, property and family covenants).

Those who know my political writings know that I do support an elected officials’ right to make reference to and appeal to God (even in prayer) as part of his service to the nation, but he should do so judiciously and sincerely since pushing God openly is a favored political ploy of the most ungodly politicians.  Bill Clinton, for example, would use the name of God (in vain, of course) just to impress naive Christians.  Then there is George Bush Jr., wily enough to verbally support being “Born Again” while maintaining his furtive allegiance to with the satanic power cult/club Skull and Bones.

I’ll take an honest, straight-talking statesman like Ron Paul, who follows conscience in his daily walk with Christ, than one of the many charismatic televangelist preachers like Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, John Hagee, Billy Graham and others who compromise with the world in order to gained access to high level establishment leaders. The personal prestige that gained by such associations is illusory.  The establishment despises religious leaders who seek their approval and fail to see they are being played the fool.

SACRIFICING THE DOLLAR TO SAVE THE BANKS

We hear a phrase all too often nowadays: “The dollar sank to a new record low this week.” Get used to it. It’s going to continue its steady decline as the Fed continues to bailout the major banks and financial institutions whose solvency depends on a package of paper assets that no longer has a verifiable value. As currency traders react to each new injection of liquidity and the lowering of US interest rates, the dollar keeps losing value. It lost 1% this past week compared to the Euro. It has gone down 6% in the past month, 17% in the last year, and a whopping 31% since late 2005. The debasement of our currency is even worse than that, however. The markets are comparing the dollar to the Euro, or the Yen, or the British Pound. Each of those currencies is also being debased, but not quite as much as the dollar. Real inflation of the money supply is higher than the percentage fall of the dollar since all comparative currencies are moving downward as well. This week we’ll talk about who are the winners and who will be the losers in this frantic game of maintaining US buying power.

Even the markets are having trouble figuring out what are the effects of this bailout fever. As the Baltimore Sun noted, “Wall Street’s euphoria over a $200 billion plan from the Federal Reserve [resulting in an unwise gain of 416 points] turned to caution yesterday, leading stocks to retreat a day after their biggest rally in more than five years. Volatile energy prices added to the market’s anxiety. Oil prices initially fell after the Energy Department said crude and gasoline supplies rose by unexpectedly large amounts last week, but then they returned on their record-setting streak to briefly surpass $110 a barrel.”

The primary reason why oil is rising despite increasing supply is that it has become a store of value for currency traders trying to hedge against a falling dollar–following the pattern of gold and silver. In other words, speculators are joining in with oil traders to find a place to park their excess dollars, causing the price to rise unrelated to actual supply and demand of the raw product.

Major financial institutions are collapsing even though only a few, like Countrywide, have reached the state of publicly admitting default. This week another huge insider-connected fund is going under. Carlyle Capital Corp. has not been able to reach an agreement with Deutsche Bank and J.P. Morgan Chase to refinance Carlyle’s highly leveraged debt of some $21B. Carlyle’s creditors have made margin calls against Carlyle’s highly leveraged positions and are now seizing Carlyle’s collateralized assets (subprime debt) for auction. The Carlyle Fund is owned by the powerful insider-connected Carlyle Group (that owns or controls many dark side mercenary operations on behalf of the US government). If even the insiders can’t save their own, you know it’s really bad. The Carlyle Group itself is somewhat immune from financial liability since it, like other major insiders, switched corporate registry offshore (Guernsey Islands, U.K.) And their stock trades in Amsterdam.

A GLIMPSE INTO DARK SIDE IMMUNITY

Only a small minority of Americans see that only liars are allowed to win the nomination for high political office–in this or any other country. In the end, it really doesn’t matter who is elected president–all the major candidates have been co-opted by the control system and its globalist agenda. Honest statesmen like Ron Paul are shunned by the media and the powerful elite. Sadly, even most people would rather be lied to about what they want to hear rather than believe the truth about our declining situation.

SUDDENLY THE MEDIA IS INTERESTED IN RON PAUL–AT LEAST IN HIS DEFEAT

This week NPR radio had the forthrightness to read two letters from listeners critical of their coverage of Ron Paul. In essence both said, “You didn’t give Ron Paul the time of day during his active campaign for President and now you do a major story on him because he has a primary challenge to his Congressional race. It seems like you are only interested in his defeat!”

Yes, the establishment has put up a neo-con “conservative” to challenge Rep. Paul for his Congressional seat: turn-coat Chris Peden who used to speak highly of Ron Paul. Thomas Woods provides some interesting background on how this challenge came to be.

McCAIN BOMBSHELL FINALLY DROPS

Establishment newspapers have been investigating this story for months and holding it back until now. The why is a story in itself, which I will cover shortly. The indiscretions occurred eight years ago while McCain was running for President the first time. Here are excerpts from the NY Times revelations [my comments in brackets].

FALSE REASONS FOR SATELLITE SHOOT DOWN

The government claims it has to shoot down a defunct spy satellite in order to keep sensitive debris parts from falling into the wrong hands and save the environment from toxic Hydrazine fuel. Nonsense. According to credible experts, Monomethyl hydrazine has a half-life of only 2 days in the environment, and does not bio accumulate.

The hydrazine tank would never survive the extreme heat of atmospheric re-entry–likewise for the sensitive electronic circuits of the spy satellite. They would all be burned up. Furthermore, using a non explosive warhead, the special version of an Aegis missile could not ensure that the hydrazine tank was destroyed on impact.

In short, the US was interested in testing a new high altitude, long range version of its Aegis missile –sending a not-so-subtle message to the Russians and Chinese that they have a new ABM missile alternative to the fixed base types whose effectiveness is in dispute. I’m all for this new ABM sea-based missile technology–if I had any confidence the US would use it to protect us, but they won’t–at least not until a world war has begun and everyone worked up into a patriotic frenzy. The excuse for shooting down a spy satellite was deemed necessary because of the hypocrisy factor: the US recently lambasted China for testing an anti-satellite missile of its own.

ANTI-DEPRESSANT DRUGS RAISE THE THREAT OF SUICIDE

Shankar Vedantam of the Washington Post writes, “Adults taking popular antidepressants such as Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft are more than twice as likely to attempt suicide as patients given sugar pills, according to an analysis released yesterday of hundreds of clinical trials involving tens of thousands of patients.” Previously there was a clear link only to teens and suicide, and only when withdrawing them from use of these drugs. What makes these new revelations so important is the breadth of the study: “The examination of 702 controlled clinical trials involving 87,650 patients is the most comprehensive look at the subject and is particularly telling because it counted suicide attempts and included patients treated for a variety of conditions, including sexual dysfunction, bulimia, panic disorder and depression.”

As I have reported before, having talked with problem teens that have used these drugs, anti-depressants suppress the portion of the mind that relays the warnings of conscience, allowing dark spiritual forces full sway to influence and depress. In my opinion, suicide is always accompanied by some form of Satanic depression. That’s what makes suicidal people so resistant to change, or resistant to accepting love and help from others.

Skousen: An Independent Challenge Without Ron Paul?

AN INDEPENDENT CHALLENGE WITHOUT RON PAUL?

One thing we have learned from the current primary campaign is just how manipulable the American voter is by a media onslaught for or against various candidates. The slick campaign to eliminate Romney from the campaign, using Huckabee as the spoiler, was very revealing. So was the extreme media bias against Ron Paul. There just aren’t enough thinking people among voters to amass any more support for a principled, Constitution-based platform than 5-10%. That doesn’t bode well for a third party or independent run. The mainstream media will deny any meaningful news coverage to third parties–unless it’s one of “their” third party spoilers like Ross Perot, who collaborated with the PTB in order to get the Clintons installed in the White House. Only in those cases do they get lots of coverage and are allowed into the debates.

Without substantive media attention, within our “winner-take-all” system, a third party/independent run for the presidency is not capable of winning the election outright–though it can act as a spoiler for one party or the other. However, as I just pointed out, the PTB get their way with either the Democrat or Republican–they just get it done in a different order and slightly different time frame.

In any case, no third party or independent candidacy is going anywhere unless all the disparate parties and forces agree on supporting a single candidate–and that person is Ron Paul. He is the only candidate capable of attracting partisans across the principled political spectrum of constitutional conservatives, independents and many anti-war Democrats as well. Almost all of the small third parties would be willing to join forces if Ron Paul were the standard bearer. Such a unified coalition has not been possible in the past hundred years. Only Ron Paul is capable of engendering the necessary trust to put together this large a coalition. He says this movement is not about him, but it is, in one significant way: A proper ideology is absolutely essential, but it has to have a human being to be its champion and get elected to office. Ideas don’t get elected on their own without a person the people can rally around. No one else has the elected track record of Ron Paul. No one else has his absolute reputation for trust.

The only problem is that Paul has announced that he will not run as a third party or independent candidate–that he is staying loyal to the Republican party.

US KINGMAKERS GET THEIR WAY NO MATTER WHICH PARTY WINS

While Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul fight on in the race for the Republican nomination, media manipulation has done its job in behalf of John McCain, and it’s McCain who will be the Republican standard bearer. In my opinion, forcing John McCain upon the Republicans greatly diminishes the chance of a Republican victory in November. On the Democratic side, Barak Obama continues to rack up victory after victory over Hillary Clinton-to the relief of millions of Americans who dislike Clinton. However, despite this appearance of victory for Obama, the Democratic race is very much unsettled. Even if Obama wins all the remaining primaries, he still ends up only barely ahead of Hillary in delegate counts–owing to the proportional allocation system. Obama is “winning” delegates in each primary, but so is Hillary. That is why the ultimate decision will be in the hands of the Democratic Party “heavies” –those state and national party leaders that control some 400 “super-delegate” votes. A large portion of these leaders are very much part of the insider control system that manipulates each election. This week I’ll discuss the potential consequences of a McCain-Obama contest as opposed to a McCain-Clinton race.

REBELLION BREWING IN DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN RANKS

The untold story emerging from the Super Tuesday primaries is not that McCain has the Republican nomination almost wrapped up, or that the Democrats are evenly split in their support for Obama and Clinton.  The real story is that the manipulation of the election process has become so obvious to the thinking portion of each party that a latent rebellion is brewing. More and more people are cynical and angry over media bias, carefully timed big name endorsements that sway ignorant voters, and back room party deals (yet to come) that are specifically aimed at thwarting the ever-growing dissatisfaction of voters with the hollow promises of change.  Those that spend a considerable amount of time pondering the issues and candidate positions (both real and feigned) are in the minority of each party.  But, they are at least twice as active as passive and manipulated voters–and they don’t like what they see ahead.  Is this growing rebellion enough to stop the establishment process of limiting our choice to Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum?  Probably not, at least not yet, but dissatisfaction levels are growing so much that if the establishment forces John McCain and Hillary Clinton upon the nation, an independent challenge is probable. This week I’ll talk about the options.

PULLING STRINGS FOR SENATOR McCAIN

The US political circus is an amazing, if not agonizing, show to watch. First, we saw Rudy Giuliani, the establishment’s pre-election favorite (only because the media said so) go from front runner status to a disastrous showing in the primaries–garnering less votes than Rep. Ron Paul, who was systematically denied any meaningful media coverage at all. It appears the public is either fickle or the media polls were just plain lying–perhaps both. Then we saw John McCain with almost no support suddenly rise to front runner status after a barrage of big name newspaper and personality endorsements so unanimous that there had to have existed some guiding hand. The establishment boost for McCain is still ongoing in a big way and is intended to gain McCain a majority of delegates before the convention convenes–which would eliminate a brokered convention where deals and concession have to be made in order to gain that majority. In an up or down vote between McCain or Romney, without Huckabee to draw away votes from Romney, McCain would lose. That’s what the king makers are trying to avoid by manipulating the public during the primaries. It’s time to let America know more about the real McCain. Believe me, he is no hero.

Skousen: Ron Paul One of Few Voting Against Stimulus Package

RON PAUL ONE OF FEW VOTING AGAINST STIMULUS PACKAGE

The president’s economic stimulus package (a short-term spending deficit spending binge) that was promoted during his speech quickly passed the House 385-35 Tuesday, with hardly a whimper of dissent. Those that did vote “no” mostly wanted a bigger bailout. True to principle, Congressman Ron Paul voted no again.

Paul is usually in favor of people getting some of their money back, but “temporary tax cuts and one-time rebates will not fix the economy…. Sending out checks and cutting interest rates yet again is merely a shot in the arm when in actuality, the economy needs major surgery.” Indeed!

BAILING OUT THE ECONOMY: HOW LONG CAN THEY KEEP DOING THIS?

If there was any doubt about the Fed’s willingness to flood the world with money in order to keep the existing economic order from collapsing, those doubts should now be completely put to rest. The financial Powers That Be (PTB) show no signs of allowing a real depression, let alone a collapse. Whether or not they can still pull it off is another question, but I think they will–their ability to keep manipulating the system continues to amaze me. They don’t, however, intend to do this indefinitely–and can’t. They only have to keep this debt system afloat until the next world war can wipe the slate clean–which may be still 5-10 years in the future. Who would have thought they could turn around the massive world bear market in stocks on Tuesday after Monday’s precipitous decline in world markets? But they did and the flood gates of fiat money are wide open. The only thing surprising in all this is that the PTB appear to be able to shovel money out the door and the dollar still hasn’t collapsed as it should–yet. This week, I will attempt to analyze why.

Skousen: Mexican Meddling in US Internal Affairs

MEXICAN MEDDLING IN US INTERNAL AFFAIRS

In a memo From VDARE, a commentary site on Latin America, Allan Wall writes, “Article 41 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations states that ‘it is the duty of all persons enjoying such privileges and immunities (diplomats) to respect the laws and regulations of the receiving State.’ Mexico is a stickler for enforcing the Vienna Convention in its own territory. But when it comes to Mexican diplomats in the United States, they constantly meddle in U.S. internal politics as it relates to immigration. And our own government allows it [and encourages it].” In a recent speech Mexican President Calderon berated Mexican diplomats for not being more aggressive in intervening on behalf of every jailed Mexican–especially illegal immigrants. Mexican historian and journalist Lorenzo Meyer quotes Calderon as saying, “it’s extremely important that Mexicans are able to continue migrating—-it’s the country’s escape valve. There’s no other way Mexico can produce enough jobs for all its working-age residents.” Nonsense. The problem in Mexico is corruption and over-regulation, not lack of business opportunities.

Calderon and George Bush both subscribe to a globalist agenda. Both endorse secret policies that foment a clash of cultures in the US so that increasing conflict will justify forging a North American Union as the “solution.” That’s the real reason why the administration doesn’t live up to its promises to secure the border.

[Skousen] Election Central: Romney—The One to Stop

ELECTION CENTRAL: ROMNEY–THE ONE TO STOP

With a solid win in the Michigan primary, supposedly a “make it or break it” contest for Romney, the establishment is now going to have it’s hands full trying to stop the surge for Romney. The media claimed Romney’s grasp of the economy was what propelled him to victory in Michigan. Not so. It was just bad, old-fashioned pandering to a depressed economic area, promising federal help-though avoiding the word “bailout.” Romney is not taking the high road of a Ron Paul, who would never stoop to promising benefits. This, sadly, makes Ron Paul less electable and easier for the establishment to dismiss. But Romney is playing the establishment game with the best, and that is the establishment’s problem. As Romney tries to appeal to a wide audience, the election insiders are having to promote 3 different candidates, in different ways and at different times, in order to stop various aspects of the Romney appeal.

Swedish Structural Engineer: WTC Towers Did Not Collapse from Fire

This article describes the structure of the World Trade Center Twin Towers and what happens when the release of potential energy, due to downward movement of the mass above one of its supporting columns when buckling, exceeds the strain energy that can be absorbed by the same column below. The conclusion is that no global collapse of the Towers can ensue under the given circumstances. …

Go to Part 2 it is more interesting than Part 1 with videos that clearly show what happens before downward motion starts, etc.

Skousen: Ron Paul Drops Ball on 9/11—A Suggestion

RON PAUL DROPS BALL ON 9/11

A lot of Ron Paul supporters were disappointed by Ron’s failure to defend them against the poisonous trap/questions posed to him about 9/11 conspiracy theories (in both the Glen Beck interview and the latest Michigan debate). Ron, obviously trying to evade being labeled a “conspiracy theorist” –the whole purpose behind these questions–said he did not believe the government was behind the attacks. Many who have joined the movement because no establishment candidate will listen to their challenges felt betrayed by Ron’s lack of knowledge on the subject and his blanket rejection. I talked to Ron’s campaign manager Lew Moore and he is aware of the disappointment and feels bad about it. He assured me that Ron has mentioned on numerous other occasions that if elected, he would open a new investigation and make sure that the 9/11 Truth Movement is represented.

Clearly, the Ron Paul campaign has made a tactical decision to avoid openly siding with the conspiracy issue, but it should be enough for his supporters to know that he would support an open investigation. He could have said that, citing the numerous flaws in the 9/11 Commission Report, as he has before in lesser venues, but in the heat of being pressed about it on national TV, he failed to do so. In one CNN poll, a whopping 89% indicated they believe the US Government was covering something up in 9/11. That doesn’t mean they believe in a major conspiracy (which takes a lot of courage and knowledge to defend) but it does show to what degree people realize the government is covering for something.

THE IRANIAN SPEEDBOAT INCIDENT: A PROVOCATION OR US BLACK OPERATION?

According to Pentagon spokesman, Bryan Whitman, “three U.S. ships had been in international waters passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday when they were approached by five fast boats, at least some of which were visibly armed…. The boats made some aggressive maneuvers against our vessels and indicated some hostile intent…. the speed of the Iranian boats and their distance from the U.S. Navy vessels demonstrated potentially hostile intent. Bridge-to-bridge radio communications between the Iranian vessels and the U.S. Navy ships reinforced this impression.”

I’ve seen the videos of the speedboats and they certainly aren’t bristling with any visible arms capable of doing damage to a destroyer. I think the Pentagon is exaggerating the threat.

Skousen: Election Manipulation in Full Swing

ELECTION MANIPULATION IN FULL SWING

We live in a fractured society pitting a few million ideologically savvy people against a growing majority of ill-informed voters whose ideas are manipulated by the media. Almost all voters are dissatisfied with the status quo, but often for the wrong reasons. The majority keeps being lured away from limited government by the promise of greater federal health and education benefits as if that were the solution to galloping inflation. In fact, it is the problem-not the solution.

Predictably, they always vote for change, but change never comes. This is because we are rarely presented with a candidate who understands the totality of change necessary. When a candidate like Ron Paul emerges, who really understands the problems and proposes the inevitable tough solutions, he is labeled as a kook, or extremist,…but mostly ignored. About 2-5% of the nation is able to see through it all, but as we found out in the New Hampshire primary, it’s not enough to overtake the momentum of ignorance within the majority. The system is rigged for secrecy, and takes advantage of the average American’s dependence upon the half-truths and distortions we are fed by the establishment media, public education and conventional political theory. Thus, the typical voter holds an almost infinite variety of ignorant and irrational ideas about both cause and effect of our national crises and thus becomes easy prey to false solutions and media manipulation. We saw all these things play out in New Hampshire this week, including some last minute media manipulation and vote fraud–signs that the Powers That Be (PTB) are having to scramble to control this race.

Skousen: My Analysis of the Iowa Caucus Race

MY ANALYSIS OF THE IOWA CAUCUS RACE

For the Democrats, Obama came in first with 39%, Edwards second with 30% and Clinton third with 29%–a major embarrassment. For the Republicans, Gov. Huckabee received 34%, and Gov. Romney was second with 25%. Thompson and McCain were in a tie for distant third at 13% and Ron Paul finally burst out of the single digits with 10% –not what his ardent supporters hoped for but certainly a respectable showing considering the media blackout against him and his anti-establishment cause. The big losers were Hillary Clinton and Rudolph Giuliani. Although both were promoted all year long by the mainstream press as front runners, they were clearly not popular in Iowa. It was also clear that the Des Moines Register, which tried to sway the race in favor of McCain and Clinton, is out of touch with it’s own constituency.

As I have pointed out in recent briefs, we are front and center watching a major case of media manipulation. Huckabee’s strong showing in Iowa was almost solely due to his ministerial attractiveness to rural Christian conservatives in Iowa, and even that would not have gained any notice without a major media campaign to promote him out of nowhere, as they made a major issue out of Romney’s Mormon faith–which predictable galvanized some evangelical Christians against Romney and for Huckabee.

However, Huckabee’s God and Big Government campaign has little pull in other larger states where the number of secular voters is much stronger than in Iowa. He will get a boost in New Hampshire from the media label as a “winner,” but it is doubtful he will break the 20% support level. Before Iowa, he was at 10%. It is interesting to note the grouping of Iowa counties that voted for Romney were concentrated around the cities where he visited personally –indicating that he was successful in converting a majority in urban areas which had a chance to meet him. Huckabee’s support was almost exclusively found in the small rural counties which rely on the news media and what fellow church-goers are saying to form political opinions. That will not translate to a winning percentage in other states with larger urban populations.

McCain wouldn’t even be in this race if it were not for the massive media support he receive just recently –with six major newspapers endorsing him in an attempt to boost him over Romney (when it became apparent that Giuliani might not be able to sustain his front-runner status). This strategy of boosting McCain to cut off Romney is probably not going to work either. McCain’s poor showing in Iowa, despite the Register’s endorsement, does not bode well. If McCain doesn’t beat Romney in New Hampshire (currently in a dead heat), the Powers That Be will be looking for another strategy. They’ve still got spoiler Michael Bloomberg in the wings. Using a major liberal newspaper in NH to editorialize against Romney (“Anyone but Romney” without endorsing anyone else) suspiciously smacks of media manipulation on a grand scale. But New Hampshire voters can be pretty independent when they want, so the results next week should be interesting.

Ron Paul continues to build support in the “Live or Die Free” state, so it will be interesting to see how much higher than his current 7% polling numbers he is able to reach. I fear that the false media coverage promoting Huckabee as an anti-establishment conservative (which is false) may keep last minute voters from switching to Paul. It won’t help that the Fox media moguls are intent upon keeping Ron Paul out of the New Hampshire Republican debates–even though Paul polls higher in NH than Fred Thompson, who is invited. ABC News is hinting that they may use the same double digit national polling criteria in their debate selection process as well. So, it is important that Ron Paul breach the 10% mark in New Hampshire. The establishment really doesn’t want the electorate to have an anti-interventionist, anti-big government, anti-globalist choice in this election.

Skousen: THE BIG PICTURE – 2007 UPDATE

Once a year I take time out from my normal news analysis to update World Affairs Brief subscribers to the “big picture” of events in the world, including specifically my projections for the next World War, which is the real threat we have to prepare for—not individual terrorism. More than ever, I still consider the nuclear attack on America as inevitable, both because the real axis of evil (Russia and China) are still building for that attack, and because our own government is controlled by those intent upon destroying US sovereignty and delivering our nation over to a socialist New World Order (NWO). The foundational document upon which this update is based is entitled “Strategic Threats of the Coming Decade” and is found on this webpage in the column to your right. THE BIG PICTURE: 2007 UPDATE

Once a year I take time out from my normal news analysis to update World Affairs Brief subscribers to the “big picture” of events in the world, including specifically my projections for the next World War, which is the real threat we have to prepare for–not individual terrorism. More than ever, I still consider the nuclear attack on America as inevitable, both because the real axis of evil (Russia and China) are still building for that attack, and because our own government is controlled by those intent upon destroying US sovereignty and delivering our nation over to a socialist New World Order (NWO). The foundational document upon which this update is based is entitled “Strategic Threats of the Coming Decade” and is found at http://www.worldaffairsbrief.com/keytopics/threats.html.

A Larger World View of the Coming World War: Each year we see the US engaged in extensive military and covert intervention in nearly every country of the world–either under the guise of spreading democracy or promoting US interests. This intervention is the real source of hatred against America, not our freedoms. However, the true globalist purpose of all this intervention is to antagonize the world, control essential resources necessary for a future war, and to induce a massive nuclear retaliation against the US military that will create a world conflict sufficiently horrible to induce Western nations to yield essential sovereignty to a NWO. As I documented in recent briefs, however, that strategy was halted, temporarily, for the first time that I can remember. The US was planning on a massive air assault on Iran this winter but decided to postpone that attack, perhaps out of fear that another aggressive intervention and unpopular war, based on manipulated intelligence, could affect the upcoming primary elections in favor of Ron Paul–the only Republican anti-war presidential candidate–who is already dangerously close to breaking out of the single digits in the polls. I believe it was also feared, correctly, that the fragile state of the US dollar could not handle another trillion dollars in deficit spending while the establishment was busy funneling at least a trillion dollars into the world economy to bailout subprime mortagage holders and the banks that brokered these debt instruments (still ongoing).

The Bush administration has used the phony war on terror as a pretext in a seven year campaign of devious and manipulative legal wrangling to undermine Constitutional protections of the people and to incite false patriotism.
