During the period of U.S. combat involvement in the Vietnam War, there was considerable argument about progress among the Department of Defense under Robert McNamara, the CIA, and, to some extent, the intelligence staff of Military Assistance Command Vietnam. In general, the military was consistently more optimistic than the CIA. Sam Adams, a junior CIA analyst with responsibilities for estimating the actual damage to the enemy, eventually resigned from the CIA, after expressing concern to Director of Central Intelligence Richard Helms with estimates that were changed for interagency and White House political reasons. Adams afterward wrote the book War of Numbers.
Things came to a head in the mid-1970s, around the time of Watergate. A dominant feature of political life during that period were the attempts of Congress to assert oversight of the U.S. Presidency and the executive branch of the U.S. government. Revelations about past CIA activities, such as assassinations and attempted assassinations of foreign leaders (most notably Fidel Castro and Rafael Trujillo) and illegal domestic spying on U.S. citizens, provided the opportunities to increase Congressional oversight of U.S. intelligence operations.[64]
Hastening the CIA’s fall from grace were the burglary of the Watergate headquarters of the Democratic Party by ex-CIA agents, and President Richard Nixon’s subsequent attempt to use the CIA to impede the FBI’s investigation of the burglary. In the famous “smoking gun” recording that led to President Nixon’s resignation, Nixon ordered his chief of staff, H. R. Haldeman, to tell the CIA that further investigation of Watergate would “open the whole can of worms” about the Bay of Pigs Invasion of Cuba.[65] In this way Nixon and Haldemann ensured that the CIA’s No. 1 and No. 2 ranking officials, Richard Helms and Vernon Walters, communicated to FBI Director L. Patrick Gray that the FBI should not follow the money trail from the burglars to the Committee to Re-elect the President, as it would uncover CIA informants in Mexico. The FBI initially agreed to this due to a long-standing agreement between the FBI and CIA not to uncover each other’s sources of information. Though within a couple of weeks the FBI demanded this request in writing, and when no such formal request came, the FBI resumed its investigation into the money trail. Nonetheless, when the smoking gun tapes were made public, damage to the public’s perception of CIA’s top officials, and thus to the CIA as a whole, could not be avoided.[66]
In 1973, then-Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) James R. Schlesinger commissioned reports — known as the “Family Jewels” — on illegal activities by the Agency. In December 1974, investigative journalist Seymour Hersh broke the news of the “Family Jewels” (after it was leaked to him by DCI William Colby) in a front-page article in The New York Times, claiming that the CIA had assassinated foreign leaders, and had illegally conducted surveillance on some 7,000 U.S. citizens involved in the antiwar movement (Operation CHAOS).[64] The CIA had also experimented on people, who unknowingly took LSD (among other things).[64]
Congress responded to the disturbing charges in 1975, investigating the CIA in the Senate via the Church Committee, chaired by Senator Frank Church (D-Idaho), and in the House of Representatives via the Pike Committee, chaired by Congressman Otis Pike (D-NY).[64] In addition, President Gerald Ford created the Rockefeller Commission,[64] and issued an executive order prohibiting the assassination of foreign leaders.
During the investigation, Schlesinger’s successor as DCI, William Colby, testified before Congress on 32 occasions in 1975, including about the “Family Jewels”.[67] Colby later stated that he believed that providing Congress with this information was the correct thing to do, and ultimately in the CIA’s own interests.[68] As the CIA fell out of favor with the public, Ford assured Americans that his administration was not involved: “There are no people presently employed in the White House who have a relationship with the CIA of which I am personally unaware.”[64]
Repercussions from the Iran-Contra affair arms smuggling scandal included the creation of the Intelligence Authorization Act in 1991. It defined covert operations as secret missions in geopolitical areas where the U.S. is neither openly nor apparently engaged. This also required an authorizing chain of command, including an official, presidential finding report and the informing of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, which, in emergencies, requires only “timely notification.”

I don’t know what to make of Sean David Morton. I’m not a fan, and I’m kind of disappointed with John B. Wells in this interview, but what Sean says about Clear Channel here is very interesting, and wouldn’t surprise me if it’s true: Henry Kissinger, George Bush, Sr., the May family, the Trilateral Commission Trust in the Cayman Islands, the subversion of the political right, buying up ‘Rush Limbaugh’ and 49% of the radio market.
Their radio monopoly is disgusting, and certainly is part of what’s responsible for the fall of America.

Author Jerome Corsi talked about his new book, Hunting Hitler, which explores the historical possibility that Hitler escaped Nazi Germany at the end of World War II. FBI and CIA records indicate that the U.S. government took seriously reports that Hitler had escaped to Argentina. The traditional story is that Adolf Hitler committed suicide in his underground bunker, along with his mistress Eva Braun in April, 1945. Later the Russian Army was said to discover them and photograph Hitler, making sure the bullet hole in his forehead was visible. But Corsi believes this was a Hitler “double” who, while he bore some similarities, was three inches shorter than the Fuhrer. Dental records also didn’t match, he added.
In 2009, archaeologist Nicholas Bellantoni, working with the History Channel for a MysteryQuest documentary, was allowed by the Russians to view Hitler’s alleged skull fragments. He concluded that the skull belonged to a person who was 40 or younger (Hitler was 56 at the time of his supposed death), and the fragments indicated they came from a woman rather than a man, Corsi recounted, adding that DNA results backed up Bellantoni’s assertions.
According to FDR’s Sec. of State, James F. Byrnes, during a meeting with Joseph Stalin in Ukraine, Stalin told him that he believed Hitler was still alive and was possibly living in either Spain or Argentina. In 1945, General Eisenhower also said he believed Hitler had escaped. Martin Bormann was said to create a special escape route into Argentina as their current regime was sympathetic to the Nazi cause. Various documents suggest that Hitler’s escape from Germany may have involved fleeing in a helicopter to Austria, then flying to Barcelona, and eventually arriving in Argentina via a German submarine. After he arrived, he lived in somewhat luxury for the next 20 years, until he died in 1965, Corsi detailed.

WH took 6 days to report Marvin Bush’s maid crushed to death in driveway
Anyone remember this story?
Bertha Champagne, a 62-year-old woman who worked as a maid/babysitter for W’s brother Marvin Bush, was found mysteriously dead in Marvin’s driveway. She had been crushed against a wall by her own vehicle. The story was that somehow the brakes became disengaged, crushing her against the wall.
Marvin, you may recall, had been appointed head of security at the World Trade Center towers in NYC just before 9/11.
The story wasn’t reported in the media for six whole days. Then, only one story was published (in the Washington Post).

This is interesting because it’s another example of the White House sitting on this kind of incident and not informing the public. Only in this case, they sat on it for six days — and the victim died.
Remember that the White House didn’t actually release a statement on the Cheney shooting — they were forced to after a local reporter in Corpus Christi (Jaime Powell) got a tip from the owner of the ranch (Katharine Armstrong) where the shooting occurred.

In the first half of the program, George Knapp was joined by, publisher of suppressed works, Kris Millegan, who talked about the secret forces controlling the planet and how they exercise their power while keeping their presence shrouded in secrecy. He contended that secret societies derive their power by exerting control over a three-tiered system with three parts contained in each level. The top tier of this power base, he said, consists of “mining, metal, and money” followed by “guns, drugs, and oil.” Comprising the final level, he claimed, is control over the media, using “magic” as a means “to make us think something else is going on,” and, finally, “mass trauma” in the form of psychological warfare on the populace. Ultimately, Millegan asserted that the agenda behind the power brokers is to slowly and secretly turn America into a corporate empire rather than a democratic republic.
Extrapolating on how this system of power consolidation works, Millegan alleged that controlling the illegal drug trade is a key factor in many military campaigns and is used to reap massive amounts of wealth for the elite. This money, he said, is then used to purchase media companies and, thus, they can manipulate the messages that are told to the general public. To that end, he expressed skepticism about media stories which are said to be revelatory about these power brokers and suggested that such reports are part of a psychological process to weaken the resolve of the citizenry. Additionally, he pointed to “meme warfare,” where alternative research groups, like the 9/11 Truth Movement, are hampered by false clues and incorrect evidence as a means of stifling investigation into the overarching conspiracy of global control.

In the second half, Amy Waters Yarsinske, a former naval intelligence officer, discussed the incredible story of denial, deceit, and deception that ultimately cost Navy pilot Captain Michael Scott Speicher his life after the government left him behind in Iraq during the first Gulf War. ..Yarsinske lamented that CIA and military officials made a “conscious decision” to not rescue him. She suggested that the decision was borne out of a desire to keep him from talking about being shot down by friendly fire as well as an effort to maintain the public perception that the early air missions had been a complete success. …

Captain Philip Marshall has recently been assassinated, along with his children and dog (links below). I just found out about this first ‘Coast’ interview last night. Here I’m posting it along with some quotes that I transcribed.
First, one Slight Caution:
The interview is excellent and VERY credible, but Captain Marshall thinks it’s possible that the United 767s took down the twin towers, because he says the planes’ wingspans are almost as wide as the buildings. But then at 1hour 42minutes, he talks about how the wings are made of thin aluminum, which is why the wings of the 757 that hit the Pentagon didn’t penetrate at all. Only the landing gear and the engine shafts were dense enough to seriously penetrate into the Pentagon.

Some sources say that the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has been involved in several drug trafficking operations. Some of these reports claim that congressional evidence indicates that the CIA worked with groups which it knew were involved in drug trafficking, so that these groups would provide them with useful intelligence and material support, in exchange for allowing their criminal activities to continue, and impeding or preventing their arrest, indictment, and imprisonment by U.S. law enforcement agencies.
Released on April 13, 1989, the Kerry Committee report concluded that members of the U.S. State Department “who provided support for the Contras were involved in drug trafficking… and elements of the Contras themselves knowingly received financial and material assistance from drug traffickers.”
In 1996 Gary Webb wrote a series of articles published in the San Jose Mercury News, which investigated Nicaraguans linked to the CIA-backed Contras who had smuggled cocaine into the U.S. which was then distributed as crack cocaine into Los Angeles and funneled profits to the Contras. The CIA was aware of the cocaine transactions and the large shipments of drugs into the U.S. by the Contra personnel and directly aided drug dealers to raise money for the Contras. Although he heavily implied CIA involvement, Webb never claimed to have made a direct link between the CIA and the Contras. Moreover, Webb’s articles were heavily attacked by many media outlets who questions the validity of his claims, although the unusual response led some to question if the CIA was involved. Webb turned the articles into a book called, Dark Alliance: The CIA, the Contras, and the Crack Cocaine Explosion.” On December 10, 2004, Webb committed suicide, dying of two gunshot wounds to the head.
In 1996, CIA Director John M. Deutch went to Los Angeles to attempt to refute the allegations raised by the Webb articles, and was famously confronted by former Los Angeles Police Department officer Michael Ruppert, who testified that he had witnessed it occurring.
The CIA has been accused of moneylaundering the iran-contra drug funds via the BCCI, the former U.S. Commissioner of Customs William von Raab said that when customs agents raided the bank in 1988, they found numerous CIA accounts. The CIA also worked with BCCI in arming and financing the Afghan mujahideen during the Afghan War against the Soviet Union, using BCCI to launder proceeds from trafficking heroin grown in the Pakistan-Afghanistan borderlands, boosting the flow of narcotics to European and U.S. markets.
In 1989, the United States invaded Panama as part of Operation Just Cause, which involved 25,000 American troops. Gen. Manuel Noriega, head of government of Panama, had been giving military assistance to Contra groups in Nicaragua at the request of the U.S.—which, in exchange, allowed him to continue his drug-trafficking activities—which they had known about since the 1960s. When the DEA tried to indict Noriega in 1971, the CIA prevented them from doing so. The CIA, which was then directed by future president George H. W. Bush, provided Noriega with hundreds of thousands of dollars per year as payment for his work in Latin America. However, when CIA pilot Eugene Hasenfus was shot down over Nicaragua by the Sandinistas, documents aboard the plane revealed many of the CIA’s activities in Latin America, and the CIA’s connections with Noriega became a public relations “liability” for the U.S. government, which finally allowed the DEA to indict him for drug trafficking, after decades of allowing his drug operations to proceed unchecked. Operation Just Cause, whose ostensible purpose was to capture Noriega, pushed the former Panamanian leader into the Papal Nuncio where he surrendered to U.S. authorities. His trial took place in Miami, where he was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
Noriega’s prison sentence was reduced from 30 years to 17 years for good behavior. After serving 17 years in detention and imprisonment, his prison sentence ended on September 9, 2007. He was held under U.S. custody before being extradited to French custody where he was sentenced to 7 years for laundering money from Colombian drug cartels.
