But it only works if it’s tightly snugged to your face and you throw it away after a single use. It can work a little bit other than that. But really, the cloth masks don’t work. So what we’re doing is encouraging people to do risky behavior, thinking the mask protects them when in reality the mask is probably not of any benefit at all, the cloth mask.”

(WKYT) – Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky says we are at a “moment of truth” and “a crossroads” in dealing with the pandemic.
He detailed his stance in a Twitter video that lasts several minutes:

Sen. Ran Paul Declining Vaccine Because He Has “Natural Immunity”
In a recent radio interview, Paul explained that he will not be getting vaccinated because he has contracted Covid-19 in 2020.
“Until they show me evidence that people who have already had the infection are dying in large numbers, or being hospitalized or getting very sick, I just made my own personal decision that I’m not getting vaccinated because I’ve already had the disease and I have natural immunity,”said Paul.
Explaining his stance, Paul added,“In a free country you would think people would honor the idea that each individual would get to make the medical decision, that it wouldn’t be a big brother coming to tell me what I have to do.”

They really don’t work. When you do controlled studies in hospitals, you find that most of the cloth and surgical masks don’t work for influenza sized particles. Interestingly, the mask that does work is the N95 mask. It has to be worn properly.
