With the world on fire, the President goes AWOL again

History tells us that Nero fiddled while Rome burned, but Barack Obama is providing the famous emperor with some serious competition when it comes to going AWOL while America and the world face crises the likes of which haven’t been experienced in decades.
Even as the situation at the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant continues to worsen by the hour, and as radiation surges across the Pacific towards the U.S. west coast while Americans panic buy supplies of potassium iodide, President Obama seems remarkably sanguine about the whole affair.
While protests and civil wars rage in Libya and Bahrain, Obama is keeping himself busy by videotaping his NCAA tournament picks, hitting the golf course for the 61st time in his presidency, and partying with lawmakers during a Chicago Bulls vs. Charlotte Bobcats game.
While Japan begs the United States for help to rescue the dire situation at Fukushima, Obama seems more concerned about dressing up nicely to please the media elite at the annual Gridiron Dinner.
Even as the planet faces the threat of a “new Chernobyl on steroids,” Obama has chosen to prioritize a speech about “Women’s History Month,” a White House get-together on “bullying” and a meeting with the Chicago Blackhawks instead of offering any kind of leadership.
But forget Japan, it’s not as if Obama hasn’t got any matters to attend to on the home front, with gas prices surging as a result of an oil spike driven by turmoil in the middle east, as well as a massive budget crisis, not to mention the perilous state of the US dollar and the stuttering economy.
Obama’s fiddling has made the crucial deceision of whether or not to impose a no fly zone over Libya all but academic, with Colonel Gaddafi taking the opportunity to use the delay to crush rebel opponents in key regions.
“But the fun stuff won’t end anytime soon,” writes veteran White House reporter Keith Koffler, who accuses the President of succumbing to “childish distractions” while the world is afire. “On Thursday, the Taoiseach of Ireland will be in town to help the president celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. And then Friday it’s off to Brazil for the start of a three-country Latin American tour.
Granted, Obama is not superman and nobody expects him to act as some kind of omnipotent savior, but the remarkable regularity with which Obama goes AWOL when crises hit not just globally but also in America has become characterisitic of his whole presidency.
Lest we forget that during the course of the devastating BP oil spill crisis, Obama took no less than three vacations, disappearing from public view at the very height of the drama when Americans were desperate for a leader.
Obama’s behavior exemplifies the fact that he is a completely hollow sock-puppet of a president. After being billed as an icon for hope, change and fresh leadership as America sought to reclaim its global reputation, Obama has been nothing but a crushing disappointment and a massive failure.
The whole farce reminds us once again that Obama, like George W. Bush before him, controls absolutely nothing, has no influence on world affairs, and has now stopped even bothering to maintain the pretense that he is anything other than an obedient yes-man whose role comprises of nothing more than following orders from the Wall Street and banking elite that have pulled his strings from the very beginning.

Ancestry.com found that the two politicians, who could face each other in the 2012 race for the White House, are both related to Mr Smith, a Protestant pastor who was an early settler in Massachusetts.
The website, based in Provo, Utah, also discovered that Mr Obama was a 10th cousin once removed from Rush Limbaugh, the conservative talk radio host and one of the president’s most virulent critics. Their common ancestor is Richmond Terrell, a Virginia settler who arrived in America in the mid-17th century.
An Englishman called John Lathrop, exiled to the United States for becoming a minister of an illegal independent church, was cited as the common link between Mrs Palin, Senator Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, and Ann Coulter, a conservative author.
Mr Obama is apparently an 11th cousin of former president, George W. Bush, through common ancestor Samuel Hinckley. …
During the 2008 election campaign, it was revealed that Mr Obama was related to Dick Cheney…

So…it turns out President Eisenhower wasn’t making up all that stuff about the military-industrial complex.
That’s what you’ll conclude if you read Bob Woodward’s new book, Obama’s War. (You can read excerpts of it here, here and here.) You thought you voted for change when you cast a ballot for Barack Obama? Um, not when it comes to America occupying countries that don’t begin with a “U” and an “S.”
In fact, after you read Woodward’s book, you’ll split a gut every time you hear a politician or a government teacher talk about “civilian control over the military.” The only people really making the decisions about America’s wars are across the river from Washington in the Pentagon. They wear uniforms. They have lots of weapons they bought from the corporations they will work for when they retire.
For everyone who supported Obama in 2008, it’s reassuring to find out he understands we have to get out of Afghanistan. But for everyone who’s worried about Obama in 2010, it’s scary to find out that what he thinks should be done may not actually matter. And that’s because he’s not willing to stand up to the people who actually run this country.
And here’s the part I don’t even want to write — and none of you really want to consider:
It matters not whom we elect. The Pentagon and the military contractors call the shots. The title “Commander in Chief” is ceremonial, like “Employee of the Month” at your local Burger King.

Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis has been selected to replace the globalist Gen. David Petraeus who was selected to replace Gen. Stanley McCrystal who made the mistake of dissing the anointed one, Barry Obama. Mattis will fill the post of CentCom commander previously occupied by Petraeus.

Gen. Mattis has the same habit of speaking his mind as McCrystal. Eric Garris writes today that Mattis was quoted back in 2005 as saying he finds pleasure in shooting and killing people in Afghanistan. “Actually it’s quite fun to fight them, you know. It’s a hell of a hoot,” Mattis said, prompting laughter from some military members in the audience, CNN reported on February 4, 2005. “It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up there with you. I like brawling.” Mattis, who commanded Marine expeditions in Afghanistan and Iraq, made the comments during a panel discussion in San Diego, California.
“You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil,” Mattis said. “You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them.”
Mattis was talking about the Taliban, an ultra-fanatical Wahhabi sect installed by the CIA and Pakistan’s ISI and funded by their Wahhabist brethren in Saudi Arabia. The Taliban “came from madrassas set up by the Pakistani government along the border and funded by the U.S., Britain, and the Saudis, where they had received theological indoctrination and military training,” writes Phil Gasper, a professor of Philosophy at Notre Dame de Namur University. “The Taliban’s brand of extreme Islam had no historical roots in Afghanistan.” It was planted there by the U.S., Pakistan, Britain, and Saudi Arabia.
Mattis led the attack on Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004. The attack violated Article 6(b) of the 1945 Nuremberg Charter that describes the “wanton destruction of cities, towns or villages” as a war crime.
“Preliminary estimates as of December of 2004 revealed that at least 6,000 Iraqi citizens in Fallujah had been killed, and one-third of the city had been destroyed,” Peter Phillips and Project Censored reported in 2006. “Countless violations of international law and crimes against humanity occurred in Fallujah during the November massacre,” including the mass slaughter of Iraqis and the use of illegal weapons such as cluster bombs, napalm, uranium munitions and chemical weapons. “According to Iraqis inside the city, at least 60 percent of Fallujah went on to be totally destroyed in the siege, and eight months after the siege entire districts of the city remained without electricity or water. Israeli style checkpoints were set up in the city, prohibiting anyone from entering who did not live inside the city. Of course non-embedded media were not allowed in the city,” writes Phillips.
“The last three times that that general has been in combat, when he was leading Marines in Afghanistan and the two times that he led his division in Iraq, his actions and those of his troops clearly show that he understands the value of proper leadership and the value of human life,” said Marine Gen. Peter Pace, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, after Mattis made his comments about the joy he experiences after killing religious zealots installed by the CIA who slap their women around, a practice likely gleaned from instructional books issued by USAID (an “aid” organization that works closely with the CIA). Pace issued his praise after 6,000 Iraqi citizens were massacred in Fallujah.
“The post General Mattis is taking is a critical one at a critical time,” said Bush era retread Robert Gates after Mattis was selected. He described Gen Mattis as one of the military’s “outstanding combat leaders and strategic thinkers” and added that the “general’s insight” should be used in the future, presumably in Afghanistan, according to the BBC.
