Ron Paul: Bailouts Will ‘Destroy the Dollar’

From: Newsmax

Paul has called for abandoning the Federal Reserve System and returning the nation to a gold and silver standard. He told Newsmax why.

It’s not so much that gold is perfect, it’s that paper is insane. To give politicians and bureaucrats and secret bankers the license to counterfeit money and create money out of thin air is destined to fail, and it has. That’s why we’ve had this financial bubble develop since the linkage to gold has been severed in 1971…

“Now they’re trying desperately to print and spend, but the bubble was overwhelming and the bursting of this bubble is something they can’t contain. It would never happen under a gold standard because there would be no legal right for our central bank to spend money and create money out of thin air. The arrogance of it all is unbelievable.

“If we continue doing what we’re doing now, we will literally destroy the dollar.”

Paul, who is a physician, was critical of Obama’s stated aim of developing a national health care plan. He said: “He has no money. Where is he going to get the money?

“He has no intention of bringing our troops home. He’s talked a little about Iraq, but we’re maintaining a world empire to the tune of a trillion dollars a year. He wants more troops in Afghanistan … You have to save some money someplace.…

Paul was especially popular on college campuses during his most recent presidential campaign. Martella asked: “Did you sort of feel like a rock star when you spoke to college students?”

Paul responded: “No, not really.:..

[video] Willful Ignorance: Actively Resisting the Truth & Truth-tellers

Transcribed by Jeff Fenske from the video, below.

The Problem

“The truth is not comfortable,
and never will be.

We choose our own comfortable doctrine,
and build our doctrines and belief around that foundation. …

When an opposing view is presented,
we resist it without giving it much thought.”

“We’ve become illiterate financially, historically, morally, spiritually, etc.,
and will chastise or harm the person who challenges us to think.”

“We argue and sometimes fight
when our belief system is challenged
.”

The Solution

True attainment of knowledge, wisdom and truth is to:
weigh
the evidence,
then form an opinion,
leaving opportunities for additional learning in the future.”

Fast Food Causes Alzheimer’s Disease, Makes Population Stupid

From: Natural News

What happens when you feed a mouse a nine-month diet of high-fat, high-sugar junk foods? They develop signs of Alzheimer’s disease.

That’s what Swedish researchers discovered in recent findings published by the Karolinska Institutet’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. They were attempting to test the effects of fast food and junk food on individuals with the apoE4 gene variant, which is present in 15 to 20 percent of humans.

Mice with the same gene variant took only nine months on a fast food diet to develop the abnormal brain tangles and chemical changes indicative of Alzheimer’s disease. …

For example, a linguistic analysis of the recent debate between Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Joseph Biden revealed that Palin spoke at about a ninth-grade level, while Biden spoke at an eight-grade level.

One hundred and fifty years ago, in 1858, Abraham Lincoln spoke at an eleventh-grade level during his debates against Stephen Douglas. …

In 2008, the American population has become so stupid that the majority of voters can no longer linguistically parse the meanings of complex sentences or even understand the implications of cause and effect. Thus, presidential races come down to popularity contests, short slogans and emotionally-driven rallies that offer nothing substantive to an intelligent voter.

The intelligent candidate for this most recent election, Ron Paul, was too “complicated” for mainstream America because he tried to explain the inner workings of the banking system and the money supply. Too bad he didn’t know the way to win the hearts of the American voter is to speak to their junk-food-poisoned minds at a fifth-grade level. …

The Romans inadvertently poisoned their people with lead. The American empire, in contrast, is poisoning its own people with processed foods, pharmaceuticals, vaccines and poisonous chemicals in personal care products. The Romans, at least, ate a Mediterranean diet….

Ron Paul: How We Bully the World — “You do it our way & we’ll give you money. If you don’t do it our way we’ll bomb ya”

Transcribed by Jeff Fenske from Ron Paul’s Russia Today interview

“We have set the stage for people to be motivated to despise what we’re doing, because we’re always telling other people what to do.

We do one of two things. We either say: ‘you do it our way and we’ll give you money. If you don’t do it our way we’ll bomb ya.’

I would tell him [President Obama]: reject those two. Be friends with people. Talk to people. Have negotiations and diplomacy.”

Ron Paul Warns Of Secret Plans To Create International Central Bank — “REAL PLANNING will not be out in the open until they want us to know about it”

From: InfoWars

Texas Congressman Ron Paul has warned that international forces are planning the creation of a global central bank that will see a new fiat monetary system come to dominate the world economy.

The 2008 presidential candidate also warned that Barack Obama’s administration will only represent a change in faces and not in policies.

The Price the GOP Paid for Backing the Wrong Horse — Media Bias Against Ron Paul Demonstrated

From: The Wom Blog

The strategy of the GOP in deciding their presumptive nominee will be the stuff history is made of. They chose as their darling, first Rudy Guiliani and painted him to be a hero of 911. But his legend was never realized. Widows of 911 and survivors’ families would follow him around his speaking engagements and expose his grievous errors in the tragedy, kind of a buzz kill for a mythical hero. The International Firefighters Association made up of the nations firefighters even created a video regarding the faulty radios Rudy never fixed because he gave what should have been a for bid contract to one of his buddies as a no bid contract. Many heroes lives were lost on that faithful day all to cronyism and abuse of power; all signatures we’ve come to know of the GOP. That’s one of those points even the nightly news couldn’t hide. And the final straw which threw the GOP into an emergency powwow in an attempt to prop up another phony hero as the presumptive nominee was Rudy being booed at Yankee Stadium. If the big apple can’t stand him, forget about the rest of the nation.

[They brought in Fred Thompson to defeat Ron Paul and billionaire Mitt Romney, who didn’t catch on – editor].

So they moved on to plan b, McCain. The other GOP candidates once out of money, moved aside expect one; Ron Paul. His campaign was moving along like a freight train. Now at this point in the game, Ron Paul had set an all time record for fund raising in one day, had the most contributions from active military of any candidate and was pulling voters from all parties into the GOP fold. But the GOP acted as though this ten term Republican Congressman from Texas didn’t exist. On the GOP website when listing potential GOP candidates many states didn’t even list him. They turned their back on a party candidate and they turned their back on potentially millions of new voters to the party. Most polls didn’t even offer him as a choice. The nightly news treated him with disdain and barely mentioned his speaking engagements where tens of thousands of people showed up to listen. I was personally at the University of Michigan where 4,000 people showed up and it didn’t make the news.

An interesting Google labs look into what Americans are searching for reveals some telling information about what Americans wanted and what the news and the GOP delivered. …

You can even watch spikes in McCain news coverage and spikes in searches relating to what users probably saw on TV, peaking their interest to learn more and going to the web. Paul had no such luxury. He was barely a blip on the radar of American election news coverage. Yet Americans were searching with no prompting from their nightly news.  He gained amazing support with a complete media black out.  This chart is from Google trends. [Alaska] Ron Paul: Please Support Bob Bird for Senate

From: Congressman Ron Paul <updates08@ronpaulforcongress.com>

Dear Friend:

As I’m sure you know, Senator Ted Stevens was this week found guilty of corruption. With national Republicans, including John McCain and Sarah Palin, calling for Steven’s resignation, his re-election bid appears lost. However, defenders of Liberty like you and I cannot sit idly by and allow big government liberal and Harry Reid disciple Mark Begich to waltz right into the Senate for the next six years.

That is why I am endorsing Bob Bird for US Senate. Bob is a true warrior in the fight against big government. If elected, he has committed to caucus with the GOP, yet would retain the independence and integrity Alaskans expect and deserve.

The hour is growing late, and time is short. Will you help Bob Bird with your generous online contribution of $250, $100, $50 or even the legal maximum of $2,300? http://www.birdforsenate.com/contribute.html

Bob also needs all the volunteer support and energy you, your friends and family might provide. To pitch in, please contact him at http://www.birdforsenate.com/contribute.html.

You have stood with me as I campaigned for the Presidency to return our federal government to its proper role. Will you help me bring a reliable ally to Washington?

Many thanks for all you have done.

In Liberty,

Ron Paul

Ron Paul: Washington’s True Maverick — Talks Bailouts, the US Constitution & Re-Making the US Dollar

From: PR.com

Often called the most honest man in Washington, Ron Paul, the unsinkable Congressman from Texas’s fourteenth district, has positioned himself as resident watchdog for the United States Constitution. Ron Paul holds a point of view that, although echoing the wording of our nation’s founding fathers, rings downright alien to the United States government of today.

We are now living in a nation where Federal social and economic programs are our government, where our currency status hinges on the stock market rather than the gold standard and where our current President has taken more liberties with the United States constitution than any other President in our country’s history. Under these circumstances, Ron Paul just doesn’t seem to fit in. Reason being: we’ve grown accustomed to, and quite comfortable with, large Federal government and the act of re-shaping laws for convenience. …

A former physician and devoted family man who never waivers in his beliefs, this quote from RonPaulFacts.com eloquently and humorously sums it up, “Ron Paul is 9 feet tall, but the weight of his conscience makes him look shorter.”

During my conversation with Ron Paul I took every opportunity to get a Washington veteran’s perspective on our current financial crisis, the seven hundred billion dollar “rescue package” which flip flopped its way through the House of Representatives, the value of the U.S. dollar, McCain and Obama politics and the future of our economy.

The Good News About the Bailout — People are Waking Up!

From: LewRockwell.com

We just had a $700 billion bailout bill that was signed into law and done in defiance of the American people at large. This money is on top of many more billions that have already been spent bailing out Wall Street. We have a runaway government and we will likely experience economic depression or very high inflation, or possibly both, in the near future. Yet, I am smiling about the whole thing.

It is hard times for many people and I certainly sympathize with them. Our own government is raping us and it is a shame that we have to go through this. But there is certainly a lot to be positive about. Last year, Ron Paul triggered a small but significant revolution in this country. Although the results were somewhat disappointing, we can’t ignore that he received 1.2 million votes and seemed to awaken many people.

Perhaps I am smiling because the Austro-libertarians have been vindicated with this whole mess. Ron Paul has been warning people for years about the Federal Reserve and the distortions in the market. Anyone paying attention can see that he knew what he was talking about. We should not feel that we can’t point out that the Austro-libertarians were warning of this years ago. …

This last week, Americans awoke from a deep sleep. Or maybe they were already awake, but we didn’t know it yet. Congress got flooded with calls opposing the bailout. One Congressman said that the calls to his office were running 50–50; 50% no and 50% hell no. Although the majority of Americans still don’t understand inflation and the boom/bust cycle very well, they instinctively understood that Americans were being ripped off with this bailout and that the government officials were simply rewarding their friends on Wall Street who had failed. Even as far as rising prices, many more Americans are realizing that the cause is monetary inflation, although we probably don’t have a majority that understand this yet.

We have a lot to be positive about. Now you may think that is crazy because Congress still passed the bailout bill, despite strong opposition from constituents. Now don’t expect all of these people to be voted out of office next month who voted “yes” on the bill, but this cannot go on forever. First of all, the empire is coming crashing down. Even if this weren’t the case, it won’t matter over time. Americans are becoming far more well informed than in the past. The internet allows us to communicate to each other quickly and effectively and expose many of the lies of the politicians.

Devvy: Bailouts, the Wound that Will Keep On Hemorrhaging

From: News with Views

No one knows what to do. We are in new territory here. This is a different game. We’re not here playing soccer, basketball or football, this is a new game and we’re going to have to figure out how to do it.” Sen. Harry Reid [D-NV], September 17, 2008

It is exactly that level of ignorance in the U.S. Congress for decades that has brought America to the brink of financial ruin. William Greider, author of Secrets of the Temple, said the same thing during his testimony, House Banking Committee, October 7, 1993:

Otherwise confident and intelligent people including members of Congress – defer to the Fed’s wisdom mainly because they do not understand it….The only players who are left out of this conversation are the American people and, to a large extent their elected representatives. Instead, they are provided a frustrating stream of evasive euphemisms and opaque jargon and platitudinous generalities and, sometimes, even downright deception. As more than one Federal Reserve governor confided to me, it would be very difficult – perhaps impossible – for the Fed to have an honest discussion of monetary policy with Congress or the public because the level of ignorance is so profound.”

Clearly, we have made huge strides in educating our fellow Americans about fiat currency and sound monetary policy, but without real newspapers in this country, most Americans don’t know the truth. It’s also crystal clear that members of Congress, with few exceptions, are clue less. I think it’s safe to say that many of those who do know, don’t have the courage to go up against the most powerful money cartels in the world; the rest are simply crooks who profit from a corrupted monetary system. Over the decades, Congress has been perfectly willing to forfeit their authority….

Ron Paul: Time is running out

From: Campaign for Liberty

Letter from Ron: Time is running out
Dear Friends,

Whenever a Great Bipartisan Consensus is announced, and a compliant media assures everyone that the wondrous actions of our wise leaders are being taken for our own good, you can know with absolute certainty that disaster is about to strike.

The events of the past week are no exception.

The bailout package that is about to be rammed down Congress’ throat is not just economically foolish. It is downright sinister. It makes a mockery of our Constitution, which our leaders should never again bother pretending is still in effect. It promises the American people a never-ending nightmare of ever-greater debt liabilities they will have to shoulder. Two weeks ago, financial analyst Jim Rogers said the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made America more communist than China! “This is welfare for the rich,” he said. “This is socialism for the rich. It’s bailing out the financiers, the banks, the Wall Streeters.”

That describes the current bailout package to a T. And we’re being told it’s unavoidable.

The claim that the market caused all this is so staggeringly foolish that only politicians and the media could pretend to believe it. But that has become the conventional wisdom, with the desired result that those responsible for the credit bubble and its predictable consequences – predictable, that is, to those who understand sound, Austrian economics – are being let off the hook. The Federal Reserve System is actually positioning itself as the savior, rather than the culprit, in this mess!

Ron Paul: “I’m supporting Chuck Baldwin” & “the most difficult group to recruit has been the evangelicals who supported McCain and his pro-war positions”

“Ironically the most difficult group to recruit has been the evangelicals who supported McCain and his pro-war positions.  They have been convinced that they are obligated to initiate preventive war in the Middle East for theological reasons.  Fortunately, this is a minority of the Christian community, but our doors remain open to all despite this type of challenge.  The point is, new devotees to the freedom philosophy are more likely to come from the left than from those conservatives who have been convinced that God has instructed us to militarize the Middle East.”

“I’ve thought about the unsolicited advice from the Libertarian Party candidate, and he has convinced me to reject my neutral stance in the November election.  I’m supporting Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate.”

A New Alliance – By Dr. Ron Paul

Friends – please read this new and important piece by Dr. Paul.

The press conference at the National Press Club had a precise purpose.  It was to expose, to as many people as possible, the gross deception of our presidential election process.  It is controlled by the powerful elite to make sure that neither candidate of the two major parties will challenge the status quo.  There is no real choice between the two major parties and their nominees, only the rhetoric varies.  The amazingly long campaign is designed to make sure the real issues are ignored.  The quotes I used at the press conference from insider Carroll Quigley and the League of Women voters strongly support this contention.

Calling together candidates from the liberal, conservative, libertarian and progressive constituencies, who are all opposed to this rigged process, was designed to alert the American people to the uselessness of continuing to support a process that claims that one’s only choice is to choose the lesser of two evils and reject a principle vote that might challenge the status quo as a wasted vote. …

Ron Paul: This is Wall Street in big trouble & sucking in & dumping all the bills on Main Street

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI4tVPXlQsM]

From: L.A. Times Blog

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) may no longer be running for president, but that doesn’t mean he slunk away quietly and is simply tending to his re-election bid (though there may not be much to do, since he’s running unopposed).

The free-market, small-government libertarian had plenty of harsh words about the Bush administration’s proposed Wall Street bailout plan when he appeared on CNN’s “Late Edition” today.

WOLF BLITZER (“Late Edition” host): What do you say to the president who wants you and your fellow Republicans and Democrats to quickly pass this $700 billion bailout package?

PAUL: Well, I think that’s a mistake because we don’t have the money. But that doesn’t mean you have to do nothing. I mean, we could reform the system. We could return to sound money. We could balance our budget. We could change our foreign policy. We could take care of our people at home. We could lower taxes.

There’s a lot of things that we can do. But the worst thing that we can do is perpetuate the bad policies that gave us this trouble in the first place, and that is that we no longer, over the last quite a few decades, believed in free-market capitalism. Capital is supposed to come from savings. We’re supposed to work hard and save.

As a matter of fact, the Chinese work hard, right now, and they save, and they’re buying up the world. But we borrow and spend and consume, and now it’s caught up to us and it’s undermining our whole system. … So this $700 billion is not going to do it.

This is Wall Street in big trouble and sucking in Main Street, now, and dumping all the bills on Main Street. … And you can’t solve the problem of inflation, which is the creation of money and credit out of thin air, by more money and credit out of thin air, and not changing policy. We have to change basic policy.

“Yes, it would be painful, but it wouldn’t last so long. What they’re doing now, they’re propping up a failed system so the agony lasts longer. They’re doing exactly what we did in the Depression.”

Skousen: Ron Paul Condemns the Two Party System

World Affairs Brief, September 12, 2008. Commentary and Insights on a Troubled World.

Copyright Joel Skousen. Partial quotations with attribution permitted. Cite source as Joel Skousen’s World Affairs Brief.

RON PAUL CONDEMNS THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM:

Ron Paul held his much anticipated news conference Wednesday at the National Press Club. He called the presidential elections a charade and said voters should reject the pressure to vote for the “lesser of two evils.” Realistically, however, it is the structure of our electoral system which requires a full majority in any primary or election that guarantees a two party system. Until that is changed (there are a variety of ways to do this, such as allowing minority of voters nationwide to pool their votes for an “at large” candidate for Congress) the system will always discriminate against third parties–unless dissatisfaction gets so strong that a third party can fully oust one of the majors.

Paul correctly says that 60 percent of Americans are unhappy with their choices in the race, and he urged listeners to vote for one of the third party candidates and vote against the “establishment candidates.” He appeared at his news conference with only three of the third-party candidates: independent Ralph Nader; former Georgia Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the Green Party candidate; and Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate. Incredibly and stupidly, Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate, decided to snub the event and hold his own press conference. I’ve never trusted Barr, being former CIA, and having been guilty of some major moral transgression.

While I applaud Ron for throwing his support behind the Third Party movement, I believe it would have been much more effective for him to endorse one Third Party candidates directly. Before Paul’s convention and statement supporting third parties, almost all Paul supporters would have split their votes mostly among the Libertarian and Constitution Party. Paul’s announcement failed to change any of that or give any one of the parties the attention getting boost necessary to grab the headlines.

The McCain campaign worries that Paul could have drawn votes away from him in November, but Paul’s chances of acting as a spoiler are now markedly diminished. It is telling that Ron Paul was pressured by former Senator Phil Gramm on behalf of the McCain campaign to endorse McCain. That takes real audacity given how the GOP treated Ron Paul delegates,. Paul correctly told Gramm he would never endorse John McCain, on principle. How rare it is to find a man of principle in politics like Ron Paul.

Bob Chapman on Sarah Palin: “What We Find Really Interesting…”

From: The International Forecaster, 8/30/08

John McCain, Manchurian Candidate and Bush Clone, has picked a pro-life Christian for his vice presidential running mate.  Sarah Palin, the current governor of Alaska, is a high-risk, high-reward choice, who will appeal to the Christian right but who is inexperienced like Obama.  If you are going to have inexperience, however, we suppose it would be better when applied to a vice president, who does little more than collect dust in a back office in the White House [except for Dick Cheney, whom many think is more powerful than President Bush – editor], although certainly experience is not necessarily a good thing, because it implies entrenched greed and corruption in the Washington setting.

What we find really interesting is that due to McCain’s age and poor health, if elected, the neophyte governor from Alaska could end up being President Palin, a pro-life Christian.  Now wouldn’t that make the Illuminati’s blood boil?  Hey, we can dream, can’t we?

Ron Paul is a better choice, however.  With him you get both honesty and several decades of experience, plus he is also a pro-life Christian, making him the obvious choice for anyone claiming to be a Christian, or for anyone who wants honest, informed, government conducted in accordance with the US Constitution which the current Administration has unceremoniously disdained and destroyed after taking an oath to uphold it.

Michael Franti & Ron Paul on Iraq: “Do Unto Others”

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzIPSGhooP4]

From: YouTube, October, 2007

The first time I really thought Ron Paul could change the world was when [I saw] the first clip of the video. When he challenged us all to take a moment to consider the war from the perspective of Iraqis I thought back to what changed my opinion on the war.

It was the moment I watched these scenes and others from Michael Franti’s movie “I Know I’m Not Alone.” Franti is the anti-Michael Moore. As the story unwinds you find a people grateful for the liberation but growing resentful of the occupation. 75,000 dead Iraqi civilians [the number is much higher now] that all had friends and family. How many people close to you would you have to lose to a foreign military on your streets before you decided to fight back? When you did, would you consider yourself an “insurgent” or a “patriot”? A “terrorist” or a “human”? We will never stop “terrorism” as long as our occupation is the primary cause of it.

Politicians make it confusing to keep you convinced it can’t be so simple. We all understand the golden rule. If we applied it to politics more often, we would be much better off.

I voted Democrat in 2006 so they would bring the troops home, and we got a surge and a continuation of the Patriot Act. Obama, Hillary, and Edwards refused to promise in the last debate to withdraw the troops in the next 5 years! Kucinich only raised $300,000 last quarter. At this point Ron Paul is the only candidate who will promise to bring our troops home now that has a shot. We need to unite behind him because he is our best shot to get the troops home and save the live or Iraqi citizens.

Disclaimer:

I am in no way implying with this video that Michael Franti endorses Ron Paul. (although I think he should)

This movie as exceptional. If every American watched it tonight, we would have the troops home next week. Franti traveled to Iraq, Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank to understand the human cost of war. Truly phenomenal I highly recommend it.

Franti and his band Spearhead also make incredible music.
