Marcus, a professor of fluid dynamics at UC Berkeley, analysis of the Hubble and Keck images may support his 2004 conjecture that Jupiter is in the midst of global climate change that will alter temperatures by as much as 10 degrees Celsius, getting warmer near the equator and cooler near the south pole. He predicted that large changes would start in the southern hemisphere around 2006, causing the jet streams to become unstable and spawn new vortices. …
Mars, too, is being hit by rapid climate change and it is happening so fast that the red planet could lose its southern ice cap, according to scientists.
Scientists from NASA say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.
Since there is no known life on Mars it suggests rapid changes in planetary climates could be natural phenomena.

MCMINNVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – High gas prices have driven a Warren County farmer and his sons to hitch a tractor rake to a pair of mules to gather hay from their fields. T.R. Raymond bought Dolly and Molly at the Dixon mule sale last year. Son Danny Raymond trained them and also modified the tractor rake so the mules could pull it.
T.R. Raymond says the mules are slower than a petroleum-powered tractor, but there are benefits.

Former Governor Jesse Ventura slammed the media witch hunt that he was subjected to in the wake of questioning the official 9/11 story and admitted that he was shocked by the reaction to his comments about the demolition of WTC 7 and the twin towers, but the ex-wrestling and movie star reiterated and expanded upon his views on 9/11 during an appearance on The Alex Jones Show.
“How come we’re not allowed to ask any questions today?” asked Ventura, referring to the hostile corporate media reaction that was elicited in response to his last appearance on The Alex Jones Show when he questioned the official 9/11 story. …
Ventura slammed the corporate media for obsessing about issues of little or no significance, drawing from personal experience when he was told what stories to cover during his tenure as an MSNBC host, but warned, “Rest assured the Internet will be the next thing the government will try to control.” …
“Why if the Al-Qaeda truly attacked us, why would we not be fighting them in Afghanistan, instead we’re focusing in the opposite direction and going into Iraq who had nothing to do with it,” said Ventura, adding, “In fact Saddam Hussein feared Al-Qaeda as a problem for him.”
Ventura stated that one of the biggest alarm bells that made him suspicious about 9/11 was George W. Bush’s reluctance to form a commission to investigate the attacks.
“I put myself in that position as a Governor or as a President – if I had a disaster happen like the one we had here in Minnesota where the bridge fell into the water, you would immediately commission a full blown public study,” he said.
“Yet George Bush stonewalled an investigation for over two years and the only reason he did one was because of pressure from the 9/11 victims,” added Ventura.

First-ever government review of fluoride/thyroid toxicology shows risk

Fluoride, in the form of silicofluorides, injected into 2/3 of U.S. public water supplies, ostensibly to reduce tooth decay, was never safety-tested.(B)
“Many Americans are exposed to fluoride in the ranges associated with thyroid effects, especially for people with iodine deficiency,” says Kathleen Thiessen, PhD, co-author of the government-sponsored NRC report. “The recent decline in iodine intake in the U.S could contribute to increased toxicity of fluoride for some individuals,” says Thiessen.
“A low level of thyroid hormone can increase the risk of cardiac disease, high cholesterol, depression and, in pregnant woman, decreased intelligence of offspring,” said Thiessen.(C)

Three widely respected theologians have condemned Terminator technology which produces genetically engineered plants with sterile seeds as “grossly immoral”.
Writing in a new publication, commissioned by Catholic development charity Progressio, Jesuit Priest Roland Lesseps, Father Sean McDonagh and Father Donal Dorr say the controversial GM technology, which is currently restricted by a temporary UN ban, offers “no benefit for farmers and consumers” and would have “long-term consequences for the environment”.
…the theologians warn that the technology could have catastrophic effects on the poorest farmers in the developing world. Presently, 1.4 billion farmers rely on the practice of seed-saving to grow food to feed their families. If Terminator technology is commercialised, farmers’ food security would be under threat. “Since poor farmers cannot afford to buy seed every year, they will go hungry”, writes Roland Lesseps.
The theological argument against Terminator is equally striking, say the report’s authors. “Terminator technology attacks the very principle of life itself”, writes Lesseps. “Destroying the life principle in an organism is not a right relationship with creation which should be received as a gift from God to be shared by all.”

It’s well and good that Congress vote to stop filling the US Strategic Oil reserve because the US already has billions of barrels in the ground in Alaska–entire oil fields capped and drilled, but kept off the market. The filling of the Strategic Petroleum reserve is merely one more attempt to keep fuel in short supply. I will be blunt. There is a conspiracy to raise fuel prices and it is pernicious. No one is targeting the collusion we see daily between the oil companies.
Fred Cederholm in a Baltimore Blog noted these careful observations during the latest and suspicious run up in gas prices–too rapid and too well coordinated to be a result of natural market demands. “It must have been some pricing strategy by all of the fuel retailers because the spike [of 13 cents a gallon] occurred everywhere, regardless of the company or the brand, at almost the same moment [within 2 hours]… I had already been on-line checking world-wide news and developments when a friend and neighbor stopped at the house to tell me I had better fill up immediately because a price jump was coming. I logged off and topped off my gas supplies for all of my fuel thirsty vehicles and gizmos. I then went back on-line to find out why the spike occurred. I found not one single development, catastrophe, or explanation. I found nothing to justify the jump!” Later, the media will always be fed some event used to justify the increase, just like their servile explanations that “the stock market rose today due to some company performing better than expected.” Nonsense.

Lasik surgery is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of your cornea, the clear covering of the front of the eye. With a knife known as a microkeratome, a flap is cut in the cornea; a hinge is spared at one end of the flap. The hinged flap is then folded back, revealing the stroma (the middlesection of the cornea). Finally, pulses from a computer-controlled laser vaporize a portion of the stroma and the flap is replaced.
Many people think that Lasik surgery will simply and quickly result in perfect vision. That simply is not the case at all.
Even when successful, the procedure leads to at least six months of impaired vision and significant discomfort, at the end of which only one eye may have normal sight. If the first eye does not heal to expectation, the second operation on the other eye will never even be done, and the imbalance will be permanent.
Lasik surgery does absolutely nothing to treat the underlying causes of your vision loss. In fact, it is 100-percent guaranteed to make your vision worse over time. The same actually holds true for glasses of any kind — they’re guaranteed to worsen your vision in the long run.
Fortunately, there are effective alternatives.

Star Wars Over Australia?
One of the most spectacular video footages of a UFO encounter was taken by cameras on board the Discovery space shuttle on 15 September, 1991. The video sequence was picked up live by a number of amateurs who were directly monitoring the transmissions. The material has been shown in news broadcasts and circulated amongst UFO researchers worldwide. …
One UFO in particular appears to rise up from below the Earth’s dawn horizon and can be clearly seen emerging from behind the atmosphere and the ‘airglow’ layers. It is certainly in orbit around the Earth, some distance out in space, and traveling quickly.
A sudden, bright flash of light is then seen to the left of the picture, below the shuttle. The UFO then turns at a sharp angle and heads out into space at very high speed. Two thin beams of light (or possibly condensation trails) move rapidly up from the Earth’s surface towards where the UFO would have been if it had continued in its original orbit.
Subsequently, careful analysis of the video shows that:
– The distance from the Discovery to the Earth’s horizon is 2,757 kilometres
– The UFO’s speed before accelerating into space is 87,000 kph (Mach 73)
– Three seconds after the light flash, the UFO changes direction sharply and accelarates off into space at 340,000 kph (Mach 285) within 2.2 seconds
– Such an acceleration would produce 14,000 g of force (1g is normal Earth gravity) …
The scenario was probably captured on video purely by chance. Along with other UFO incidents recorded on video by NASA, this material has contributed significantly towards NASA’s recent decision to discontinue live television transmissions from space.
