[3-minute video] The Hermeneutics of Language: Few still say “You’re welcome.” | The Benchmark of the Psychopathy: The almost organic inability to look back, to recognize error, hurt, disappointment and pain — an inability to appreciate consequence and to take responsibility for actions of one’s past

“An inability to appreciate consequence
and to take responsibility for actions of one’s past,
which happens to be the hallmark of the psychopath,
who only can live in the present.

The almost organic inability to look back,
to recognize error, hurt, disappointment and pain,
the benchmark of psychopathy.”

Lionel dissects three idiosyncrasies of our mother tongue that are worthy of discussion and analysis.

[video] Clive Boddy: Corporate Psychopaths Rule Over Us — The key thing about psychopaths is they’ve got no conscience. If you caught them lying, they wouldn’t be flustered. They come across as almost better than everybody else, and they can make you feel as if you’ve just met your next best friend. By the time that you realize who they really are…

The key thing about psychopaths is to realize they’ve got absolutely no conscience. And therefore there isn’t a good side of them to appeal to; there isn’t a moral side of them to appeal to. They’ll do whatever it takes to get what they want. They’re totally ruthless, totally without emotion, totally self-centered.”

“Because they have a relative lack of emotion they have a relative lack of fear. For example, if you caught them lying, they wouldn’t be flustered or bothered by it. They’d just carry on with another lie that covers up the first one. Whereas you or I would be embarrassed, and stumble over our words, and things like that.”

“…the key thing about them is when you meet them, they come across as almost better than everybody else: more charming, more sophisticated, more presentable. And so they make you feel as if you’ve just met your next best friend. And therefore, they weedle their way into your lives. And by the time that you realize who they really are the destruction has already been done.”

GOP WARMONGERS EMERGE IN CNBC DEBATES

This week’s Republican debate sponsored by Wolf Blitzer of CNBC showcased how far Republican candidates (excepting Ron Paul and sometimes Michelle Bachman) have descended into the control of neocons. I never saw so much warmongering in the past 4 years. It seems they were all intent on using the war drums of terrorism to increase rather than abolish the Patriot Act and increase war rather than stop these invasions and occupations of foreign nations. The hatred against the US is building and that’s just what these wars are intended to do in the globalist playbook.

Spencer Akerman noted that no one except Ron Paul offers a significantly different point of view than the Obama adminstration: “Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich pretty much agree with Obama on Afghanistan and Pakistan. Ex-Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, saying that he backed the ‘commanders on the ground,’ [who are mostly yes-men to the politicians] endorsed Obama’s current approach: ending the Afghanistan troop surge in 2012 and withdrawing most troops by the end of 2014.

“Romney’s challenger-of-the-week, ex-House Speaker Newt Gingrich, was more concerned with the other side of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. He said he’d tell Pakistanis to ‘get out of the way’ of U.S. troops conducting hot pursuit of terrorists running out of Afghanistan and into Pakistan. And it also sounded like he’d up the covert raids: ‘Don’t complain if we kill people you’re not willing to go after on your territory where you have been protecting them,’ Gingrich said [incredibly calloused].

“That’s a departure from Obama’s approach — but it’s a change in degree, not kind. NATO helicopters currently pursue terrorists fleeing into Pakistan, and U.S. troops on the border fire artillery at Pakistani positions where insurgents attack them. Then there are special-operations raids like the one deep into Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden. But those are still exceptional circumstances; Gingrich sounded like he’d turn them into something closer into the rule [they already are].

“Romney wants to get rid of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad. Perry recently called for a no-fly zone over Syria. Romney ripped him apart: ‘You’d need a no-drive zone’ instead, since Assad’s military isn’t attacking Syrian dissidents from the air. But even if Romney wouldn’t launch a Libya war redux in Syria, he endorsed more sanctions, ‘covert action’ (without explaining), and backing Turkish and Arab League diplomacy to get Assad out, while ‘meeting with the Alawites so they understand they have a future after Assad [under US and NATO control].’ It was a much deeper policy answer than most on display tonight, and evidence that Romney’s thought through what his stated support of the Arab Spring would require [nonsense. He’s just parroting what his highly paid CFR advisors tell him—it’s the standard line].

“Practically everything else is up for grabs. Debate moderator CNN deserves its share of blame for this. In two hours, there were no questions about China [or Russia], no questions about the Eurozone financial meltdown, no questions about the Mexican drug cartels. Nine Republican candidates said practically nothing about whether they’d acquiesce to huge defense cuts or roll them back.” That is how the media frames the debates to evade many issues.

Think Progress criticized neocon and presidential hopeful Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) for his “wildly conflicting positions on Iran. Last month, Santorum defended Ronald Reagan’s decision to negotiate with Iran but contradicted himself a day later by asserting that the Iranian government ‘cannot be negotiated with.’ But in comments made on Friday at a campaign stop in Iowa, Santorum took a more extreme position than any other candidate, claiming Iranian nuclear scientists are ‘enemy combatants’ and could be targeted for assassination.”

Santorum completely ignores the fact that our assassination work by drones and its collateral damage to civilians is enraging the non-western world. But Newt Gingrich was the worst calling [for] more use of the warrantless surveillance and heavy handed tactics permitted by the misnamed PATRIOT ACT. You get the feeling from watching Newt’s smug looks while listening to Ron Paul’s impassioned response for preserving civil rights that Gingrich would welcome a 1984 style society. He’s a totally unprincipled man.

But what will really hurt the establishment chances of selling Republicans on Gingrich is his defense of amnesty for illegals that have been here for years (thanks to little enforcement by the federal government). “Newt adopted the ‘heart position,’ arguing that long-rooted families, even if illegal, ought to be given a path to citizenship. ‘The party that says it’s the party of the family is going to destroy families that have been here for a quarter of a century?’” This quote is already coming back to haunt him. “Along with Santorum, Gingrich also endorsed profiling, saying that ‘you need to use every tool you can possibly use to gather the intelligence.” Every tool? Scary.

Gingrich takes a hard line on expanding foreign policy in line with his globalist background and policy advisors. As pointed out on Jim Lobe’s blog, “Former House Speaker and GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich announced his national security team last night, ahead of tonight’s CNN national security debate. David Wurmser: a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute [a neocon think tank where Gingrich is a former senior fellow], Wurmser served on the staffs of two top Bush administration hawks, former U.N. ambassador John Bolton and Vice President Dick Cheney (where Stephen Yates, another Gingrich adviser, also served). In 2007, a U.N. official called Wurmser one of the ‘new crazies’ who wanted to attack Iran. In 1996, Wurmser co-authored a paper from a right-wing pro-Israel group advocating the removal of Saddam Hussein from power.

Ilan Berman: Berman, the vice president of the American Foreign Policy Council (which also gave the Gingrich campaign Herman Pirchner and Yates) and editor of the Jewish Institute For National Security Affairs journal, has advocated U.S.-led regime change in Iran and wrote that military action against Iran should be a ‘last resort.’ But he’s also attempted to minimize negative effects of an attack and, in 2005 at a Middle East Forum briefing, said Iran is a ‘prime candidate’ for Iraq-style pre-emption.

James Woolsey: Woolsey served as honorary co-chair of Islamophobe Frank Gaffney‘s Center For Security Policy and is a current leadership board and executive team member at the neoconservative Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD). Woolsey advocated for the Iraq war, supports illegal Israeli West Bank settlement construction, and now pushes a confrontational stance on Iran. In 1998, Woolsey signed onto a Project For a New American Century letter urging the military removal of Saddam Hussein.”

Margaret Carlson of Bloomberg, along with various other pundits has begun to notice the “new front runner of the month” syndrome affecting the Republican Party. Carlson blames it on lack of intellect within the Republican party: “Gripped by anti-intellectualism, the party has successively swooned over Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, Texas Governor Rick Perry and Herman Cain.”

Unthinking though the majority may be, this alone isn’t the reason for this too good to be true rise and fall of challengers to Romney. It’s the controlled media and their pollster whores that are outright forging the data in order to make it appear as if these new challengers are suddenly in first place. When the public fails to rally in support of each failed puppet candidate, the polling numbers are allowed to drop to their real level.

Carlson then engages in a fairly cogent analysis of “The Newt:” “In Gingrich, Republicans at least have a candidate who, unlike Cain, understands that the Taliban aren’t threatening to take over Libya (although Gingrich was for President Barack Obama’s intervention there before he was against it). Republicans can be certain that Gingrich’s overactive brain won’t freeze when confronted with rudimentary questions. It may, however, overheat.

Gingrich has a hundred ideas, many of them half-baked, when a single consistent theme would suffice. He loves listening to his own voice and is so dazzled by his rhetorical skills that he believes he can wriggle out of the very tight spots in which he invariably wedges himself. The most recent example was his claim that he was paid by Freddie Mac not as an influence peddler, but for his advice as a ‘historian.’ Bloomberg News subsequently revealed that his fees had totaled more than $1.6 million, which is a whole lot of history.”

But Gingrich, a member of the globalist Council on Foreign Relations since 1990, is a lousy historian when it comes to remembering his own unprincipled past. “In giving Gingrich a second look, conservatives are bound to see some ugly things. Before reversing his position under a barrage of conservative criticism, Gingrich called the Medicare reform championed by Republican Representative Paul Ryan ‘right- wing social engineering.’ Earlier this year, his campaign imploded as Gingrich decamped with his wife for a cruise of the Greek isles (which he now characterizes, incredibly, as a prescient fact-finding mission to study Greece’s debt problem). When he returned, his staff quit.

“In addition to a longstanding credibility problem, Gingrich has committed multiple heresies against the conservative faith. He made an advertisement with House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi in which together they promoted global-warming awareness. Gingrich called it ‘probably the dumbest single thing I’ve done in recent years,’ an admission that won’t necessarily appease a Republican base convinced that global warming is a fraud perpetrated by scientists.

“In 1986, Gingrich backed amnesty for illegal aliens and, as former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has gleefully pointed out, Gingrich was one of the many Republicans who expressed support for an individual mandate to buy health insurance before that idea was adopted by Obama.

Gingrich, who recently converted to Catholicism and says he’s pro-life, didn’t do much for the pro- life cause in the 1990s when he was the second-most-powerful person in Washington. He did not defund Planned Parenthood or pass the human-life amendment. In a high-profile Republican primary in a New York special election in 2009, he endorsed the pro-choice candidate before she dropped out of the race.

“Influence Peddling in Gingrich’s post- congressional life: For more than a decade he has exploited his insider credentials to embed himself in the interlocking and lucrative system of special interests and influence peddling. For one paying client, Gingrich said that Medicare could save more than $33 billion a year if it were to encourage patients to sign ‘advance directives’ to limit end-of-life care, a policy that Sarah Palin has since relabeled ‘death panels.’ As historian Gingrich tries to explain away his work for Freddie Mac without actually disclosing what he did, he risks digging himself deeper into the Washington muck that the Tea Party abhors.

“Gingrich has so many missteps to explain, he has set up a website featuring his own negatives (well, some of them) and respective explanations. Lots of luck there. It took a surge in the polls for his daughter to explain that Gingrich’s visit to his wife’s hospital bedside as she recovered from cancer surgery was not, as widely reported, to tell her that he wanted a divorce. He just wanted to visit.

“For Republicans, Gingrich’s rise and eventual collapse may prove more embarrassing than the boom-and-bust cycles of previous candidates who claimed to be the One Who Can Stop Romney from gaining the nomination. Conservatives have to forgo so many principles — three marriages? — to elevate Newt, that there’s almost nothing left.”

I had a subscriber quit last week over her feelings that I was being “too hard on Gingrich.” In reality, I haven’t even begun to tell of the skeletons in this man’s closets. Some are too unsavory to tell in detail, but here’s an edited version from the 1995 Vanity Faire article about Gingrich:

“In the spring of 1977, [Anne Manning, who admitted to a relationship with Gingrich that started during his 1976 campaign] was in Washington to attend a census-bureaus workshop when Gingrich took her to dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant. He met her back at her modest hotel room. ‘We had [a form of sex without getting in bed],’ she says. ‘He prefers that… because then he can say, ‘I never slept with her.’ Indeed, before Gingrich left that evening, she says, he threatened her: ‘If you ever tell anybody about this, I’ll say you’re lying.’” During that same period one of Newt Gingrich’s neighbors Kip Carter, who lived a few doors down from the couple, saw Gingrich have an aberrational form of sex with one of his house guest’s wives in the car. Carter described Gingrich’s reaction upon discovery as a boyish smirk. That’s what kind of amoral man this is.

“I’m not a conspiracy theorist. I’m a conspiracy analyst.” Gore Vidal said it perfectly. And exquisitely.

For too many, the existence of a confederation or consortium perhaps to effectuate a disastrous end is inconceivable for myriad reasons.

That fear and dread
inspire a recalculation of perception
that negates and nullifies that which is psychically troubling.

Reality is repackaged, the prism tweaked. And voila! Manufactured relief from the sting of reality.

I, however, dive into the analysis of that which may be supported by those who conspire. I fear not the truth; but I dread the lie.

John Le Carre noted, “Until we have a better relationship between private performance and the public truth, as was demonstrated with Watergate, we as the public are absolutely right to remain suspicious, contemptuous even, of the secrecy and the misinformation which is the digest of our news.”

And we forge ahead. As the brilliant particle physicist and theoretician Teresa Giudice of RHONJ is wont to say, “Bring it on.”

Partial Audit of the Federal Reserve Reveals $16 Trillion in Secret Bailouts — $16,000,000,000,000.00 had been secretly given out to US banks and corporations and FOREIGN banks everywhere from France to Scotland. The entire national debt of the United States government spanning its 200+ year history is “only” $14.5 trillion.

From: unelected.org

Audit of the Federal Reserve Reveals $16 Trillion in Secret Bailouts

The first ever GAO(Government Accountability Office) audit of the Federal Reserve was carried out in the past few months due to the Ron Paul, Alan Grayson Amendment to the Dodd-Frank bill, which passed last year. Jim DeMint, a Republican Senator, and Bernie Sanders, an independent Senator, led the charge for a Federal Reserve audit in the Senate, but watered down the original language of the house bill(HR1207), so that a complete audit would not be carried out. Ben Bernanke(pictured to the left), Alan Greenspan, and various other bankers vehemently opposed the audit and lied to Congress about the effects an audit would have on markets. Nevertheless, the results of the first audit in the Federal Reserve’s nearly 100 year history were posted on Senator Sander’s webpage earlier this morning:  http://sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/news/?id=9e2a4ea8-6e73-4be2-a753-62060dcbb3c3

What was revealed in the audit was startling: $16,000,000,000,000.00 had been secretly given out to US banks and corporations and foreign banks everywhere from France to Scotland. From the period between December 2007 and June 2010, the Federal Reserve had secretly bailed out many of the world’s banks, corporations, and governments. The Federal Reserve likes to refer to these secret bailouts as an all-inclusive loan program, but virtually none of the money has been returned and it was loaned out at 0% interest. Why the Federal Reserve had never been public about this or even informed the United States Congress about the $16 trillion dollar bailout is obvious — the American public would have been outraged to find out that the Federal Reserve bailed out foreign banks while Americans were struggling to find jobs.

To place $16 trillion into perspective, remember that GDP of the United States is only $14.12 trillion. The entire national debt of the United States government spanning its 200+ year history is “only” $14.5 trillion. The budget that is being debated so heavily in Congress and the Senate is “only” $3.5 trillion. Take all of the outrage and debate over the $1.5 trillion deficit into consideration, and swallow this Red pill: There was no debate about whether $16,000,000,000,000 would be given to failing banks and failing corporations around the world.

In late 2008, the TARP Bailout bill was passed and loans of $800 billion were given to failing banks and companies. That was a blatant lie considering the fact that Goldman Sachs alone received 814 billion dollars. As is turns out, the Federal Reserve donated $2.5 trillion to Citigroup, while Morgan Stanley received $2.04 trillion. The Royal Bank of Scotland and Deutsche Bank, a German bank, split about a trillion and numerous other banks received hefty chunks of the $16 trillion. …

The list of institutions that received the most money from the Federal Reserve can be found on page 131 of the GAO Audit and are as follows..

Citigroup: $2.5 trillion ($2,500,000,000,000)
Morgan Stanley: $2.04 trillion ($2,040,000,000,000)
Merrill Lynch: $1.949 trillion ($1,949,000,000,000)
Bank of America: $1.344 trillion ($1,344,000,000,000)

Bank of Scotland (United Kingdom): $181 billion ($181,000,000,000)

In tonight’s Wednesday, November 9, 2011 broadcast of the Infowars Nightly News, Alex Jones will address the launch of the nationally-coordinated Emergency Alert System takeover, which was tested earlier today on radio and television. The feds admittedly aim to expand these forced-alerts to mobile phones and the Internet as well.

Also in the news is open talk of Ron Paul running for president in the Libertarian Party. Jesse Ventura has also been discussed as a possible candidate or running mate, if called upon by the only 3rd party mechanism with wide ballot access.

Alex will further cover the disgusting human experimentation taking place in Africa where big pharma companies like Pfizer, numerous universities and Rockefeller-spurned groups like the Population Council are openly engaged in non-consensual’ testing and research on uninformed individuals from countries without adequate protections.

In alarming border news, SWAT teams were dispatched as a gun battle with gunmen and Mexican police unfolded at a ranch near Escobares on the U.S. side of the border. Alex will also elaborate on the Homeland Security-coordinated deployment of smart street lights equipped with covert surveillance technology and hooked into DHS emergency alert systems. A Charlotte-based Homeland Security official quipped that you would never know if Big Sis was watching through the street light system.

One time Libertarian Party Presidential nominee Michael Badnarik will also join Alex to discuss the long battle for liberty, the prospects of Ron Paul and/or Jesse Ventura running for president in 2012 within the Libertarian Party, the Occupy Wall Street movement, new assaults on privacy and the Bill of Rights and much more.

Ron Paul: Leaving Iraq? — The current agreement was set up by the previous administration to expire at the end of 2011. Apparently the Iraqis refused to allow continued immunity from prosecution for our forces for any crimes our soldiers might commit on Iraqi soil.

From: paul.house.gov…

Leaving Iraq?

It is not too often I am pleased by the foreign policy announcements from this administration, but last week’s announcement that the war in Iraq was in its final stage and all the troops may be home for Christmas did sound promising.  I have long said that we should simply declare victory and come home.  It should not have taken us nearly a decade to do so, and it was supposed to be a priority for the new administration.  Instead, it will be one of the last things done before the critical re-election campaign gets into full swing.  Better late than never, but, examining the fine print, is there really much here to get excited about?  Are all of our men and women really coming home, and is Iraq now to regain its sovereignty?  And in this time of economic crisis, are we going to stop hemorrhaging money in Iraq? Sadly, it doesn’t look that way.

First and foremost, any form of withdrawal that is happening is not simply because the administration realized it was the right thing to do.  This is not the fulfillment of a campaign promise, or because suddenly the training of their police and military is complete and Iraq is now safe and secure, but because of disagreements with the new government over a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).  The current agreement was set up by the previous administration to expire at the end of 2011.  Apparently the Iraqis refused to allow continued immunity from prosecution for our forces for any crimes our soldiers might commit on Iraqi soil.  Can you imagine having foreign soldiers here, with immunity from our laws and Constitution, with access to your neighborhood?

Some 39,000 American troops will supposedly be headed home by the end of the year.  However, the US embassy in Iraq, which is the largest and most expensive in the world, is not being abandoned.  Upwards of 17,000 military personnel and private security contractors will remain in Iraq to guard diplomatic personnel, continue training Iraqi forces, maintain “situational awareness” and other functions.  This is still a significant American footprint in the country.  And considering that a private security contractor costs the US taxpayer about three times as much as a soldier, we’re not going to see any real cost savings.  Sadly, these contractors are covered under diplomatic immunity, meaning the Iraqi people will not get the accountability that they were hoping for.

While I applaud the spirit of this announcement – since all our troops should come home from overseas –  I have strong reservations about any actual improvements in the situation in Iraq, since plans are already being made to increase the number of troops in surrounding regions.  What we really need is a new foreign policy and there is no indication that that is what we have gotten.  On the contrary, the administration fully intends to keep troops in Iraq, indefinitely, under a new agreement, while the Iraqis are doing their best to assert their sovereignty and kick us out.  Neither are we going to be saving any significant amount of money.  My greatest fear, however, is that this troop withdrawal from Iraq will simply pave the way for more endless, wasteful, needless wars.

Fed Insider Cain Caught In Brazen Debate Lie

Establishment favorite claims he never opposed audit of Fed

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Establishment favorite and former Federal Reserve insider Herman Cain brazenly lied during last night’s Republican debate when he denied that he had opposed an audit of the Fed, a claim that was proven false within hours by Ron Paul’s campaign team.

Pointing out that the majority of Americans want to see a full audit of the Federal Reserve, Congressman Ron Paul asked Cain if he stood by his position that it would be frivolous to audit the Fed on a regular basis, as well as his characterization of those who are calling for such measures as ignorant.

Cain responded by claiming he never dismissed Ron Paul or his supporters as “ignorant” for asking about the Federal Reserve, and that the error was down to Paul believing what he read on the Internet. Technically Cain is correct, because he didn’t call Ron Paul supporters “ignorant,” worse still, in his own book Cain dismissed them as “stupid” and ludicrously suggested that the Paul campaign was deliberately sending out supporters to harass Cain with questions about the Federal Reserve.

Cain brazenly lied in the next breath when he claimed, “I do not object to the Federal Reserve being audited, I simply said if someone wants to initiate that action go right ahead, it doesn’t bother me,” adding that he had been “misrepresented” and didn’t have a problem with the Fed being audited, before robotically repeating his “9,9,9″ tax hike agenda.

Within hours, the Paul campaign responded by pointing out precisely where Cain had expressed his opposition to auditing the Fed, with the aid of the very same Internet that Cain derided as an inaccurate source of information.

Unfortunately for the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO, the world wide web turned out to be very accurate in documenting Cain’s deception.

On December 29, 2010, Cain, former director and chairman at the Kansas City Federal Reserve, said the following.

“Some people say that we ought to audit the Fed. Here’s what I do know. The Federal Reserve already has so many internal audits it’s ridiculous. I don’t know why people think we’re gonna learn this great amount of information by auditing the Federal Reserve. I think a lot of people are calling for this audit of the Federal Reserve because they don’t know enough about it. There’s no hidden secrets going on in the Federal Reserve to my knowledge.”

Ron Paul Calls Out Herman Cain For Lie Over Fed Audit During GOP Debate

At the GOP Bloomberg/Washington Post debate Tuesday night, Ron Paul, the longest-serving advocate of a Fed audit in Congress, asked Herman Cain, a former director of the Kansas City Fed, why he opposed an audit of the central bank, and why he called advocates of such an audit ignorant.

“Mr. Cain, in the past you have been rather critical of any of us who would want to audit the Fed. You have said — you’ve used pretty strong terms, that we were ignorant and that we didn’t know what we are doing, and therefore, there was no need for an audit anyway, because if you had one, you’re not going to find out anything, because everybody knows everything about the Fed,” Paul said.

“But now that we have found and we have gotten an audit, we have found out an awful lot on how special businesses get bailed out — Wall Street, the banks, and special companies, foreign governments. And you said that you advise those of us who were concerned, and you belittled — you say call up the Federal Reserve and just ask them. … Do you still stick by this, that that this is frivolous, or do you think it’s very important? Sixty-four percent of the American people want a full audit of the Fed on a regular basis.”

Cain said that, in fact, he didn’t oppose an audit, and that when he served on the Fed it was a different institution. “You have misquoted me. I did not call you or any of your people ignorant. I don’t know where that came from,” he said. “You’ve gotta be careful of the stuff you get off the Internet.”

A careful check of the Internet, however — guided by the Paul campaign — turns up audio of Cain saying just what Paul accused him of saying. As recently as 2010, long after the Fed began engaging in the lending Cain says he opposed, Cain belittled those calling for an audit.

There’s no hidden secrets going on in the Federal Reserve to my knowledge,” he said.

Media Manipulation Of 9/11 Truth: The major media hyped fear, promoted revenge, and defended falsified notions … AMERICA’S POST-9/11 DECADE IS BEST CALLED ITS VISIBLE FALL FROM GRACE, waging permanent wars on humanity…

From: Rense.com

Media Manipulation Of 9/11 Truth
By Stephen Lendman
9-6-11

In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously ruled for Fox News, saying no rule or law prohibits distorting or falsifying news.

Just as Wall Street, war profiteers, Big Oil, Big Pharma, and other corporate favorites steal with impunity, it’s OK for America’s media to lie.

The ruling pertained to a 1996 Jane Akre/Steve Wilson Fox affiliate WTVT, Tampa reports on bovine growth hormone (BGH) dangers, Monsanto’s hazardous to human health genetically engineered milk additive.

At first, the station loved them. Later, however, Fox executives and their attorneys ordered its reporters to admit falsifying evidence and produce bogus reports on BGH safety.

They refused, threatened to inform the FCC, were fired, and sued. A district court jury decided on their behalf, awarding Acre alone $425,000 in damages.

Fox appealed and won, the Appellate Court saying Acre wasn’t protected under Florida’s whistleblower statute, loosely interpreting it to mean employers must violate an adopted “law, rule, or regulation.”

In other words, Fox simply followed “policy” entitling its stations to lie – whether on product safety or falsifying facts about anything, including 9/11 truth.

In 2005, Project Censored chose this story among its top 25 most important, titled “The Media Can Legally Lie,” and lie they’ve done about 9/11 from that day to the present.

Those old enough to remember won’t forget, including how media distortions turned it into perhaps the most hyped ever spectacle, especially on television.

For days, images of planes hitting the twin towers and their collapse were aired repeatedly.

[…]

Both wars rage today, besides Obama’s naked aggression, notably against Libya – another nonbelligerent country America and its NATO allies systematically destroyed, butchering tens of thousands of Libyans on the pretext of protecting them.

America’s post-9/11 decade is best called its visible fall from grace, waging permanent wars on humanity for wealth and power, never for falsified hyped reasons everyone needs to understand and condemn.

But don’t expect America’s media to explain. They’re, in fact, complicit by regurgitating official lies, vilifying Islam, and resonating war fever discourse for intervention, featuring one-sided reports and commentaries.

Absent was critical debate. Vital questions weren’t asked. Militarism instead was promoted as the solution to “global terrorism.”

For days, political and military officials and spokespersons shared air time with so-called national security state experts and various crackpots, ranging from right-wing to hard-right to the lunatic fringe.

The common theme argued was that America was at war with Islam, Samuel Huntington’s racist “clash of civilizations” notion, “good v. evil,” “freedom (and our) way of life” against “forces of darkness.”

Bush administration officials used cowboy metaphors, including wanting bin Laden “dead or alive,” calling its campaign a “crusade” until criticism forced its change to “Operation Enduring Freedom,” and vowing to “smoke out and pursue” barbaric evil doers.

Their underlying theme was fear because it sells, even when cause for it doesn’t exist.

At the same time, Bush’s “war on terrorism” didn’t mention democracy, instead emphasizing his fighting for “freedom” mantra, no matter the human toll or illegitimacy of the Big (9/11) Lie, permitting America’s war on the world to follow.

Inaugurated on January 20, 2001, his nationally televised address to Congress declared war on terrorism, describing a conflict between “those governed by fear (who) want to destroy our wealth and freedoms” and others wanting to defend it.

Thereafter, the major media hyped fear, promoted revenge, and defended falsified notions that Washington wages wars for freedom and democratic values by ridding nations of dangerous tyrants, especially ones threatening Americans.

In other words, wars of aggression are liberating ones. Civil and human rights are suppressed for our own good, and patriotism means going along with lawless governments, committing crimes of war and against humanity against one country after another.

Bin Laden and Al Qaeda replaced “the evil empire.” Terrorism became the new mantra. Manichean good v. evil notions were hyped. Fear and hate overwhelmed sanity and defending right over wrong, as well as holding venal politicians accountable for acting lawlessly with impunity.

An earlier article explained that when America goes to war, managed news follows, spreading rumors, half-truths, misinformation, and willful deception about targeted nations, regimes, leaders, and other enemies, whether despots of democrats.

John Pilger said “Journalism is the first casualty” of war. “Not only that: it has become a weapon of war, a virulent censorship (and willful misreporting) that goes unrecognized in the United States, Britain and other democracies; censorship by omission (makes all) the difference between life and death for people in (targeted) countries….”

It suppresses debate, substitutes fiction for facts, filters out truth, and cheerleads in lockstep with government policy, right or wrong.

As a result, it supports America’s right to be judge, jury and executioner, as well as get victor’s spoils because that’s why all wars are fought, never for falsified reasons, regurgitated on air and in print ad nauseam.

Because America’s business is war, supported by its major media, war profiteering is a growth industry, and as famed comedian Jimmy Durante used to say:

“Everybody wants ta get inta da act,” and they do.

In addition, not telling the truth and holding venal politicians accountable for taking America to war on false pretenses lets them do it again with impunity.

In a Race to Out-Rave, 5-Star Web Reviews Go for $5

The boundless demand for positive reviews has made the review system an arms race of sorts. As more five-star reviews are handed out, even more five-star reviews are needed. Few want to risk being left behind.

Sandra Parker, a freelance writer who was hired by a review factory this spring to pump out Amazon reviews for $10 each, said her instructions were simple. “We were not asked to provide a five-star review, but would be asked to turn down an assignment if we could not give one,” said Ms. Parker, whose brief notices for a dozen memoirs are stuffed with superlatives like “a must-read” and “a lifetime’s worth of wisdom.” …

“Everyone’s trying to do something to make themselves look better,” he said. “Some of them, if they cannot generate authentic reviews, may hire somebody to do it.” …

Negative reviews also abound on the Web; they are often posted on restaurant and hotel sites by business rivals.

14 Propaganda Techniques Fox “News” Uses to Brainwash Americans

Saturday 2 July 2011
by: Dr. Cynthia Boaz, Truthout | News Analysis

… The good news is that the more conscious you are of these techniques, the less likely they are to work on you. The bad news is that those reading this article are probably the least in need in of it.

1. Panic Mongering. …when people are afraid, they don’t think rationally. And when they can’t think rationally, they’ll believe anything.

2. Character Assassination/Ad Hominem. Fox does not like to waste time debating the idea. Instead, they prefer a quicker route to dispensing with their opponents: go after the person’s credibility, motives, intelligence, character, or, if necessary, sanity. No category of character assassination is off the table and no offense is beneath them. Fox and like-minded media figures also use ad hominem attacks not just against individuals, but entire categories of people in an effort to discredit the ideas of every person who is seen to fall into that category, e.g. “liberals,” “hippies,” “progressives” etc. This form of argument – if it can be called that – leaves no room for genuine debate over ideas, so by definition, it is undemocratic. Not to mention just plain crass.

3. Projection/Flipping. This one is frustrating for the viewer who is trying to actually follow the argument. It involves taking whatever underhanded tactic you’re using and then accusing your opponent of doing it to you first. …

4. Rewriting History. This is another way of saying that propagandists make the facts fit their worldview. The Downing Street Memos on the Iraq war were a classic example of this on a massive scale, but it happens daily and over smaller issues as well. … They will literally rewrite history if it serves their interests. And they’ll often speak with such authority that the casual viewer will be tempted to question what they knew as fact.

5. Scapegoating/Othering. This works best when people feel insecure or scared. It’s technically a form of both fear mongering and diversion, but it is so pervasive that it deserves its own category. The simple idea is that if you can find a group to blame for social or economic problems, you can then go on to a) justify violence/dehumanization of them, and b) subvert responsibility for any harm that may befall them as a result.

6. Conflating Violence With Power and Opposition to Violence With Weakness. This is more of what I’d call a “meta-frame” (a deeply held belief) than a media technique, but it is manifested in the ways news is reported constantly. For example, terms like “show of strength” are often used to describe acts of repression…. There are several concerning consequences…. First, it has the potential to make people feel falsely emboldened by shows of force – it can turn wars into sporting events. Secondly…. Violence become synonymous with power, patriotism and piety.

7. Bullying. This is a favorite technique of several Fox commentators [can anyone say Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity? – editor]. …. Often, less self-possessed people will feel shame and anxiety when being berated and the quickest way to end the immediate discomfort is to cede authority to the bully. The bully is then able to interpret that as a “win.”

8. Confusion. As with the preceding technique, this one works best on an audience that is less confident and self-possessed. The idea is to deliberately confuse the argument, but insist that the logic is airtight and imply that anyone who disagrees is either too dumb or too fanatical to follow along. Less independent minds will interpret the confusion technique as a form of sophisticated thinking, thereby giving the user’s claims veracity in the viewer’s mind.

9. Populism. This is especially popular in election years. The speakers identifies themselves as one of “the people” and the target of their ire as an enemy of the people. … The idea is to make the opponent harder to relate to and harder to empathize with. It often goes hand in hand with scapegoating.

10. Invoking the Christian God. This is similar to othering and populism. With morality politics, the idea is to declare yourself and your allies as patriots, Christians and “real Americans” (those are inseparable categories in this line of thinking) and anyone who challenges them as not. Basically, God loves Fox and Republicans and America [no matter what we do – editor]. And hates…. [The truth is that none of these liars and deceivers are real Christians based upon what the Bible really says – editor]

11. Saturation. There are three components to effective saturation: being repetitive, being ubiquitous [having or seeming to have the ability to be everywhere at once; omnipresent – editor] and being consistent. The message must be repeated …over and over, it must be everywhere and it must be shared across commentators: e.g. “Saddam has WMD.” Veracity and hard data have no relationship to the efficacy of saturation. …regardless of whether it’s true or if it even makes sense. …Fox’s own slogan of “Fair and Balanced.”

12. Disparaging Education. There is an emerging and disturbing lack of reverence for education and intellectualism in many mainstream media discourses. …

13. Guilt by Association. This is a favorite of Glenn Beck and Andrew Breitbart, both of whom have used it to decimate the careers and lives of many good people. Here’s how it works: if your cousin’s college roommate’s uncle’s ex-wife attended a dinner party back in 1984 with Gorbachev’s niece’s ex-boyfriend’s sister, then you, by extension are a communist set on destroying America. Period.

14. Diversion. This is where, when on the ropes, the media commentator suddenly takes the debate in a weird but predictable direction to avoid accountability. This is the point in the discussion where most Fox anchors start comparing the opponent to Saul Alinsky or invoking ACORN or Media Matters, in a desperate attempt to win through guilt by association. Or they’ll talk about wanting to focus on “moving forward,” as though by analyzing the current state of things or God forbid, how we got to this state of things, you have no regard for the future. Any attempt to bring the discussion back to the issue at hand will likely be called deflection, an ironic use of the technique of projection/flipping.

In debating some of these tactics with colleagues and friends, I have also noticed that the Fox viewership seems to be marked by a sort of collective personality disorder whereby the viewer feels almost as though they’ve been let into a secret society. Something about their affiliation with the network makes them feel privileged and this affinity is likely what drives the viewers to defend the network so vehemently. … It’s akin to the loyalty one feels by being let into a private club or a gang.

the fact that a lot of people believe something is not necessarily a sign that it’s true; it’s just a sign that it’s been effectively marketed.

Murdoch Buys Biggest Online Faith Network

Is Murdoch’s NIV the ‘N’ew ‘I’lluminati ‘V’ersion? Has the Word of God Been Corrupted to Bring US Into the New World Order?

Glenn Beck said some strange things on his Fox News departure show: Honor stinks — his wife calls him ‘freak boy’ — he’s wanted something so much he was willing to trade his soul to get it. And now people should follow him into his new $10/month format???

From: ToBeFree.wordpress.com

Glenn Beck has been a deceiver, and he’s hurt many good people — without apology. Numerous examples of his machinations are in my Glenn Beck Deception category. And he claims to be leaving with his soul.

Many have been led astray by this man. That’s how they do it on Fox — twisting truth, calling it ‘fair and balance’ — leading US into a police state, claiming to be the network that isn’t.

He is still completely untrustable in my opinion. He will have to make a lot of changes to truly save his soul. I am hoping he will.

Beck is a very strange, though very slick character, evidenced again by what he says here. Don’t trust this guy. He even deceives himself:

“I just said to the staff, this is when it gets hard not to steal a memento from this set. We have so many great things.

Honor. That stinks on ice.

So I was telling you a story. Pinnacle of your career and I’m looking over the skyline, Bono is not on the phone but I’m pretending that he is. And I’m overwhelmed with a feeling.

This is — I’m standing in the living room by myself. My wife has gone to bed, and like ‘OK, OK, freak boy.’ And I’m standing there and I’m looking at this city, and I am overwhelmed with the feeling: if you don’t leave now, you will not leave with your soul.

As a guy who has traded my soul before, I will not trade it again. Never want anything too much, never. It will destroy you.”

– Glenn Beck

[Blatant anti-Paul media bias!] After Debate, CNN AIRS *INSIDERS* POLL Instead of THEIR OWN POLL in which Ron Paul Won

Here is CNN’s own poll, which did not air [screenshot from my browser] — Ron Paul 81%:

Here is the Insiders Poll they did air, consisting of: political operatives, strategists, campaign consultants and lobbyists — who with great delight put Ron Paul at 0%. Ron Paul would unemploy most of them if he got in:

From my post [My opinion and video] CNN Ron Paul Post-Debate Interview: “I think the issue of war is so important on principle…” | The KINGMAKERS are just supposed to be REPORTERS!:

You can still see the spin though. The post debated commentators then ignored Paul in their commentary. And the debate networks continue the tradition they started before the 2008 election, in which they stopped polling the people directly, because Ron Paul would always come out at the top or near the top, as I’ve shown many times at this site.

They now always do something else, like poll a hand-picked focus group. In this case, they only posted the results from an insiders poll, whom Anderson Cooper said consist of: political operatives, strategists, campaign consultants and lobbyists. Cooper said this so fast that almost certainly most missed this key factor. And of course, Ron Paul would not be included in the top three picks of the insiders — which even included lobbyists!!! Great! That’s fair and balanced — not influencing the voters with jacked stats.
