Some churches defy Anchorage’s COVID-19 order limiting large indoor gatherings

Anchorage Baptist Temple, one of Anchorage’s largest churches, held in-person services on Sunday, about a week after the emergency order took effect that prohibits indoor gatherings of more than 15 people, including for religious services. …
In his sermon on Sunday, Pastor Ron Hoffman addressed the issue in a video that was posted on Anchorage Baptist Temple’s Facebook page.
“When our civil authority says something, we find ourselves in a quandary. But we must always obey God. We cannot stop sharing the gospel. We will not stop worshiping God. We will not stop being the church. We cannot stop, it won’t happen,” he said to loud applause.
Hoffman explained that while congregants are normally called on to obey civil authority, they should not obey that authority when it conflicts with the teachings of God.
And at least one member of the Anchorage Assembly, Jamie Allard, was also in attendance, according to a post on her official Facebook page. …

Explosive: Affidavit claims Sen. Giessel said military men rape 3rd-world women
A signed affidavit from a media professional in Juneau says that Sen. Cathy Giessel, during a live interview in 2016, said that our military men overseas are raping women.
The document says that Giessel was a guest on a Coastal Alaska Television show when out of the blue, she made disparaging statements about the military.
It would not have been the first time. She also disparaged Rep. Laddie Shaw during the interviews she conducted for Senate Seat M, after the untimely death of Sen. Chris Birch.
The affidavit document was discussed on the Mike Porcaro Show on KENI radio during drive time this afternoon.
In the affidavit, Dorene Lorenz says that her show was meant to focus on positive topics, projects, and ideas. She says Giessel suddenly brought up “an astonishing declarative statement that it was her belief that all UN Peacekeeping forces — including Alaskan troops did was rape third-world women.”
I wrote this as a draft post in 2016, thinking I’ll only publish it if it’s someday necessary. Today, I found that it is, so I posted it.

San Francisco state Senator Scott Wiener has introduced a new bill to decriminalize adult men having sex with boys and he and his allies in the media are smearing all opposition as “homophobic” and “anti-Semitic.”

Study Underway to Identify Most Effective Messaging
The idea that the vaccine promotion might be more “overwhelming” than what we’re used to is further supported by a clinical study5 on ClinicalTrials.gov, the aim of which is to identify the most “persuasive messages for COVID-19 vaccine uptake.”

‘Mask mouth’: Dentists coin new term for smelly side effect of wearing a mask

The new oral hygiene issue — caused by, you guessed it, wearing a mask all the time to prevent the spread of the coronavirus — is leading to all kinds of dental disasters like decaying teeth, receding gum lines and seriously sour breath. …
“We’re seeing inflammation in people’s gums that have been healthy forever, and cavities in people who have never had them before,” says Dr. Rob Ramondi, a dentist and co-founder of One Manhattan Dental. “About 50% of our patients are being impacted by this, [so] we decided to name it ‘mask mouth’ — after ‘meth mouth.’ ” …
While mask mouth isn’t quite as obvious, if left untreated, the results could be equally harmful.
“Gum disease — or periodontal disease — will eventually lead to strokes and an increased risk of heart attacks,” says Dr. Marc Sclafani, another co-founder of One Manhattan Dental.
He says the stinky syndrome is triggered by face coverings since wearing a mask increases the dryness of the mouth — and a buildup of bad bacteria.
“People tend to breathe through their mouth instead of through their nose while wearing a mask,” says Sclafani. “The mouth breathing is causing the dry mouth, which leads to a decrease in saliva — and saliva is what fights the bacteria and cleanses your teeth.” …
People’s tendency to drink less water while masked up, as well as consume more coffee and alcohol during lockdown, have also added to the widespread dehydration he’s seeing.
