KEEPING A MUZZLE ON CHINA CRITICS IN THE US
I’ve had US intel personnel admit to me off the record that they are continually warned against saying anything in public that would appear negative about Russia cheating on treaties or Chinese rearmament. Now we have a case of muzzling a high ranking US officer for criticizing China. The AsiaSentinel.com has the story:

Intelligence chief sidelined for warning China is preparing for war with Japan. American naval officers who publicly raise concerns about China’s military capabilities and intentions can find themselves sidelined, their careers stunted. That is the case of Capt. James Fanell, formerly the chief of naval intelligence for the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Fanell was recently reassigned from his sensitive intelligence post. His remarks at several forums that China is preparing for war with Japan were embarrassing to the navy’s leadership, which is focused on building ties with a newly assertive China’s military.

That report also confirms what I have said numerous times: that in spite of Chinese aggression in the Far East, the US policy continues to be one of appeasement. Note in this Bloomberg piece how US Admiral Locklear (an old pro-China hand) comments on China’s taking of more land for bases in the East China Sea and yet says nothing about intervening to stop it. Instead, he’s always pushing for more “joint military exercises” with China to show “friendship.”

China claims about four-fifths of the South China Sea, home to some of the world’s busiest shipping lanes, under a so-called nine-dash line drawn on a 1940s map. Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia and Brunei also claim territory in the waters. China’s island building program in the South China Sea may result in it gaining control of some of the world’s most important waterways, the U.S.’s most senior military commander for Asia said.

“If this activity continues at pace, is that it — those would give them de facto control” of the maritime territory they claim, Admiral Samuel Locklear, head of the U.S. Pacific Command, told the U.S. Senate. Locklear said China could install long-range detection radars, base warships and warplanes on the islands, potentially giving it the ability to enforce an air defense identification zone.

Satellite photos this month showed images of Chinese dredgers at work at Mischief Reef in the Spratly Islands, a feature also claimed by Vietnam, the Philippines and Taiwan. President Barack Obama said April 10 that the U.S. is concerned that China is using its “muscle and power” to dominate smaller countries in the region.

But neither threat any action to stop this aggression. And the Chinese are already building their first long runway on the Spratleys —not just dredging.

The US Is Hiding Its Nukes so Poorly, It Undermines the Point of Having Them

The United States has a growing weakness in its nuclear arsenal of defensive Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs), and some experts warn the gap is a serious vulnerability in U.S. defenses.

“Right now, the American land-based ICBM force is particularly vulnerable because it is over targeted by Russian and Chinese ICBMs,” said Richard Fisher, senior fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center, in a phone interview.

The problem, he said, is that U.S. nuclear weapons sites have moved little since the Cold War. Plans to create mobile defense systems that can be moved and hidden were likewise scrapped in efforts to reduce the U.S. nuclear arsenal.

“We’re just not hiding them,” Fisher said, noting that even a hobbyist using Google Earth could spot most of the land-based nuclear sites in the United States.

With China, in particular, the opposite is true, and much of its nuclear force is hidden away in forests and underground bases. In the nuclear defensive arena where the only “security” is the assurance of mutual annihilation, the idea that someone could destroy a nation’s nuclear weapons and have enough left over to destroy its population centers isn’t an idea that’s taken lightly.

“If you look at new Chinese bases, it is quite easy to conclude that China is building up to the capability to preemptively strike our ICMB fields,” Fisher said.

That’s just one part of the secret suicidal nuclear policies taking place in our US strategic defenses. My readers are familiar with PDD-60 (decreed in 1997, but still in force) instructing our nuclear forces not to rely on “launch on warning,” but to prepare to absorb a nuclear first strike and “retaliate after.” But absorbing an enemy’s first strike would take out all our 450 land based Minuteman III missiles, which have just been reduced to a single warhead!

Also in 1997 Bill Clinton declared the US would unilaterally agree to keep half of our ballistic missile subs in port to make them easier for the Russians to target—a supposed “confidence building” measure. These suicidal gestures clearly foretell our government’s willingness to let us take the first hit which destroys most of our military forces and gives our leaders the excuse to convince the West to form a militarized global government and army in order to prosecute the war. Mark my words, you’ll see that happen someday.

CHINA-RUSSIA MISSILE DEAL

While the rest of the former Soviet client states like Syria and Iran are left begging for Russia to give them the outdated S-300 anti-aircraft and anti-missile system they’ve paid for, China is now to receive the highly effective Russian S-400 system, the world’s best anti-missile missile. Unlike the US ABM this missile packs a warhead of 50 lbs of high explosives. Popular Science has the story:

The S-400 SAM has a range of 400km, effective against many targets that Russia (or China) would face, such as stealth and conventional fighters, bombers, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.

In April 2015, both Anatoly Isaikin, CEO of Russia’s arms sales Rosoboronexport agency, and Du Wenlong, a senior member of the PLA Academy of Military Science, have stated that China will take delivery of the S-400 SAM. The Moscow Times reports that the deal was negotiated for $3 billion, to deliver 6 S-400 battalions. With each battalion consisting of 6 transport erector launch (TEL) vehicles, China would have 36 launch vehicles.

The S-400 is the longest range SAM system in the world. It first entered into Russian service in 2007, and has capability to intercept ballistic missiles and high speed aircraft, while its 91N6E can locate and track stealth aircraft at standoff (100km+) distances. The most infamous of the S-400’s three missiles is the 40N6, which has an astounding range of 400km. The 40N6’s extreme range would allow S-400 TELs on China’s coast to shoot down aircraft anywhere over Taiwan. The smaller 250km-ranged 48N6 and 120km-range 9M96E2 missiles are also equally lethal against fighters, bombers, early warning and electronic warfare aircraft, as well as cruise and ballistic missiles.

More importantly, the newest Russian system has the latest radar anti-jamming technology to thwart the usual attempts by US planes to jam the ABM guidance and controls systems. None of the Russian ABMs given to Saddam Hussein were able to counter US radar jamming (ECM) aircraft which blinded the S-200 system. In like manner Israel has been able to penetrate Syria’s ABM network at will using jamming technology.

One of the reasons the Russians did not come to Iraq’s defense as promised is that allowing the attack to go forward allowed them to eavesdrop on the entire spectrum of US jamming techniques, so they could design counter-jamming technology into the S-400. If the US goes up against a real opponent in the future, it is not going down with the overwhelming ease of Desert Storm.

The S-400 will supplement China’s Russian-made S-300 and domestic HQ-9 long-range SAMs, while its 30K6E command system can even interlink with other Russian made SAMs, like the S-400 and TOR-M1, both of which China already fields. The S-400s would likely be operated by the PLA Air Force (PLAAF), which has historically operated China’s land based long-range air defense systems. While the 40N6’s long range could theoretically cover all of Taiwan’s air space, they would most likely protect major bases like the Hainan submarine pens, important cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, or hide within the inland mountains of Fujian and Guangdong

The 91N6E “Big Bird” AESA radar can locate and track stealth aircraft at standoff (100km+) distances, while it can detect high altitude targets like ballistic missiles at distances of up to 600km.

The deal is significant to regional security as well as geopolitics. China’s improved air defense capabilities will greatly complicate any efforts to conduct aerial operations or missile attacks against the Chinese mainland, even with stealthy drones, longer-ranged cruise missiles, or new bombers, all part of the new US “third offset” plan. In wartime, the S-400 could even support Chinese airstrikes by knocking out enemy fighters flying above their own bases and cities. On the strategic level, the S-400 sale would facilitate Sino-Russian cooperation, as well as facilitate other sales and joint projects like submarines and space operations.

In contrast, the US has purposely designed an ABM missile system with a non-explosive kinetic hit vehicle that must make physical contact with the incoming warhead to do the job. Why would you do that when the missile still weighs about the same as one with an explosive warhead, but is handicapped by having to have pin-point accuracy at a moving target of 10k mph? It doesn’t make sense unless you want to communicate to the Russians that you don’t intend to stop their missile attack effectively.

In lock-step with this suicidal doctrine the AP just reported on the idiotic remarks of a former General of US Strategic Command pushing them take US missiles off any alert status. I’ll explain why his reasoning is completely bogus.

Taking U.S. and Russian missiles off high alert could keep a possible cyberattack from starting a nuclear war, a former commander of U.S. nuclear forces says, but neither country appears willing to increase the lead-time to prepare the weapons for launch.

Retired Gen. James Cartwright said in an interview that “de-alerting” nuclear arsenals could foil hackers by reducing the chance of firing a weapon in response to a false warning of attack. Essentially adding a longer fuse can be done without eroding the weapons’ deterrent value.

A study led by Cartwright proposes to adjust the missile command and control system so that it would take 24 hours to 72 hours to get the missiles ready for launch.

Cartwright said cyberthreats to the systems that command and control U.S. nuclear weapons demand greater attention. While the main worry once was a hacker acting alone, today it is a hostile nation-state, he said, that poses more of a threat even as the Pentagon has improved its cyberdefenses.

Wrong on all counts, and he knows better. He’s promoting this as a globalist stooge, not based on his military knowledge. First, US missiles are not subject to hacking as they are not connected to the internet. They are hardwired to command centers and have alternate backup means of communication, none of which are related to the internet. The launch code is impossible to imitate, discover or bypass even by those manning these launch centers.

Second, NORAD has many safeguards against a lone or erroneous missile launch causing a mass retaliation by our missile forces. 1) we do have ABMs that, though few in number and with a 50% success rate, are capable of bringing down a hypothetical errant missile. 2) Our spy satellites must confirm multiple missile launches toward America in order to trigger a launch alert. These satellites track the heat signature of a missile and there’s no mistaking their reliability. 3) you cannot tolerate a longer delay for missile launch than is currently built into the system if you are going to have any Launch on Warning deterrent value. Once enemy missiles are detected by our satellites, you have approximately 20 minutes to get our missiles out of their silos and on their way before warheads hit. The general’s stupid suggestion of putting our missiles behind a 24 hour delay ensures that they couldn’t respond to an incoming attack. Even a 30 minute delay would be too late.

And that’s my point: Cartwright’s suggestion seems to be playing by PDD-60, prepping the public to accept, in the name of peace, a dangerous strategy that will guarantee a first strike on our military forces. Currently our missile forces still are on alert and expect to launch on warning of an incoming attack. I have long hypothesized that the launch codes will not be relayed to them by the White House in order to deny them the ability to launch and force us to “absorb” the first strike. Military commanders no longer have any emergency secondary launch codes to use in case of non communication with the White House—also thanks to PDD-60.

So if Cartwright’s suicidal proposal gains traction with the establishment, and you see this 24 hour delay enacted, you’ll know it is meant to guarantee we can’t launch on warning. This would give partial cover for the globalists advisors running the White House since they wouldn’t have to explain afterward why they didn’t send the launch codes—although I’m sure they could concoct some technical excuse for the failure.

Cartwright, by the way, is the lead author of a report published Wednesday by the Global Zero Commission, an Leftist group co-founded by a former Air Force nuclear missile launch control officer Bruce Blair, who became a rabid anti nuclear zealot. It is hardly unbiased.

Meanwhile Russia and China are busy doing joint military exercises on land and sea on a large scale and collaborating on a number of other weapons projects including, tanks, drones, and a new jumbo jet.

Sputnik News, one of the newest of the Russian news outlets, announced that Russia is to renew production of the Tu-160 (Blackjack) supersonic strategic bomber and missile carrier. The Blackjack bomber is the Russian version (and obvious copycat) of the US B-1 supersonic bomber, still in operation (in limited numbers). The B-1B Lancer is the supersonic component of the USAF’s long-range bomber force, along with the venerable B-52 and the Stealth flying wind, the B-2 Spirit.

Russia Insider, also a new addition to the pro-Russian Internet News services, summarized the growing Russian Navy which still has a ways to go to challenge the West:

The Pacific Fleet, in particular, has been growing as of late. Already it is the second largest Russian fleet, with 73 vessels, including 23 submarines and 50 surface warships, according to The Diplomat.

One of its more notable recent additions is a new Borei-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SSBN). The Pacific Fleet received one of the Borei-class SSBNs in 2013, and is expected to ultimately have at least six of them. Furthermore, the Pacific Fleet is expected to receive the first six deliveries of Russia’s new Yasen-class attack nuclear submarines (SSGN).

Russia Today, (RT) the original “new” Russian News service aimed at US rightwing audiences detailed China’s latest heavy fighter/attack plane based, as usual, on a Russian design:

China’s advanced J-11D heavy fighter jet takes maiden flight. The upgraded D variant of China’s J-11 fighter jet, a copy of the Russian Sukhoi Su-27, has made its maiden flight, Chinese media reported. The jet reportedly has new radar and an air refueling system.

The J-11D model, which was tested in the air for the first time on Wednesday, incorporates technologies developed for the J-16 fighter jet. It is reported to have better active phased array radar, use more composite materials in its wings and tail, and be capable of firing more advanced air-to-air missiles like PL-10 and PL-15.

Remember that even though much of the Russian and Chinese weapons are imitations of US technology, they make up for what they may lack in technical superiority by producing more in quantity, and at a much lower price than US weapons. In a future war of attrition the expensive high-tech, but limited quantity, of US weapons may prove insufficient for the threat.

RUSSIA’S PREPARATIONS TO FIGHT AND WIN A NUCLEAR WAR

Kudos to Michael Snyder this week for joining the fight to warn the world about the growing Russian threat. As usually, he always crafts his writings as “10 or 20 Signs” of something which end up being a bit contrived for the numbers sake. Still, here are some of the better excerpts from “10 Signs That Russia Is Preparing To Fight (And Win) A Nuclear War With The United States.”

If the United States and Russia fought a nuclear war, who would win? You might be surprised by the answer. Under the Obama administration, the rapidly aging U.S. strategic nuclear arsenal has been shrinking [and they have been deliberately disarming what we do have, even though the Russians are cheating on those same arms control treaties]. Meanwhile, the Russians have been developing an entirely new generation of bombers, submarines and missiles that have the capability of delivering an absolutely crippling first strike. At this point, most Americans consider a full-scale nuclear war to be inconceivable [due to all the anti-war and anti-nuclear propaganda].

But in Russia attitudes are completely different. To the Russians, the United States is enemy number one these days and the Russians are feverishly preparing for a potential military showdown. Of course the Russians don’t actually want to have to resort to nuclear war. [Very naive of Snyder. In reality, the Soviet Union never fell and the Continuing Soviets continually practice for a pre-emptive nuclear strike on US military forces]

A lot of Americans are still operating under the faulty assumption that the doctrine of “mutually assured destruction” still applies. The thinking was that both sides had so many nuclear missiles that a launch by one side would guarantee the destruction of both parties. [That’s never been true, including the myth of a nuclear winter.]

But since that time, so much has changed. [Because the US is actively inviting a first strike against our forces by disarming while Russia cheats—and we don’t even have a treaty with the Chinese for them to cheat on, so it’s full steam ahead for all the major nuclear powers except the US.] For one, the U.S. nuclear arsenal is far, far smaller than it was back then. Back in 1967, the U.S. military possessed more than 31,000 strategic nuclear warheads. Now, we only have 1,642 deployed, and that number is scheduled to be further reduced to about 1,500. Sadly, reducing the size of our nuclear arsenal by close to 95 percent is not enough for anti-nuke crusader Barack Obama. He has spoken of unilaterally reducing the size of our strategic nuclear arsenal down to just 300 warheads.

During this same time period, the Russians have been developing some very impressive stealth delivery systems which have the capability of hitting targets inside the United States within just minutes of an order being issued. This is particularly true of their submarine-launched missiles. The newest Russian subs have the ability to approach our coastlines without us even knowing that they are there… And if the Russians have an anti-ballistic missile system that can intercept the limited number of rockets that we can launch in return, they may be able to escape relatively unscathed. In order for “mutually assured destruction” [MAD] to work, we have to see the Russian missiles coming and have enough time to order a launch of our own.

That’s called Launch on Warning, wherein we launch upon satellite warning of a Russian/Chinese attack. When you use launch on warning our missiles are out of their silos by the time the incoming attacker’s missiles hit—striking empty silos. Whereas the one who launches second can target the enemy’s nuclear facilities that are still operational.

Mutually Assured Destruction was sold to the world based on the flawed premise that nuclear powers would hit each other’s cities and kill everyone. But this is simply not anyone’s first strike strategy. Nobody wants to destroy the world, but rather kill military targets and then blackmail the world into submission. The winner can then run their version of global government.

The US knows this and is setting up our military for unilateral destruction—by issuing Presidential Decision Directive 60 (PDD-60) in 1997 instructing our nuclear forces to “not rely on Launch on Warning” but to be prepared to “absorb a nuclear first strike and retaliate afterwards,” which appears suicidal. But our leaders aren’t suicidal, they intend to survive and win a nuclear war. That’s why they are building and modernizing all their deep underground bunkers.

They will use the decapitation of US military forces and missiles to drive all of us into accepting a militarized global government and then bring out heretofore secret defense and weapons systems to win the war (which won’t be easy) under the banner of the New World Order. That, in a nutshell, is why the US isn’t doing anything to stop North Korea (the probable trigger event), or deter Chinese and Russian disarmament. So, here are Snyder’s 10 signs that Russia is preparing to fight (and win) a nuclear war with the US:

#1 Russia is spending an enormous amount of money to develop the PAK DA Strategic Bomber. Not a lot is known about this stealth bomber at this time.

#2 Russian nuclear bombers have been regularly buzzing areas in northern Europe and along the coast of Alaska. The Russians appear to be brazenly testing NATO defenses.

#3 Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu says that Russian nuclear bombers will now conduct regular patrols “in the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific, as well as the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico“.

#4 Russia is constructing an anti-ballistic missile system which will supposedly be superior to anything that the U.S. currently has. [True. All their interceptors have explosive warheads. Ours do not.] The S-500 missile is intended to be capable of intercepting intercontinental ballistic missiles when combined with radar input from the likes of the new A-100 AWACS aircraft. It is supposed to be able to track and shoot at up to 10 supersonic targets at any one time at heights of up to 40km.

#5 Russia recently successfully test launched a new submarine-based intercontinental ballistic missile…The RSM-54 intercontinental ballistic missile Sineva (NATO code name SS-N-23 Skiff) is part of the D-9RM launch system.

#6 Russia already possesses super silent nuclear attack submarines that are virtually undetectable when submerged… That means that the Russians are able to sail right up to our coastlines and launch nukes whenever they want. [He’s confusing attack subs with ballistic missile subs. The super silent attack subs are sub hunters, NOT ballistic missile subs.]

#7 Russian media outlets are reporting that 60 percent of all Russian nuclear missiles will have radar-evading capability by 2016. [There’s no evidence of this yet, nor of their claimed maneuvering warheads, which is very difficult to do at many times the speed of sound and high reentry temps]

#8 For the first time ever, Russia has more strategic nuclear warheads deployed than the United States does… Russia now has 1,643 warheads deployed on intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles and heavy bombers. The United States has 1,642, said the fact sheet released Wednesday. [The US has zero direct knowledge of what the Russians have in terms of missiles and warheads. We have never been allowed to inspect all of their facilities, notably the huge and secret underground Yamatau Mountain complex. You can bet the true number of warheads is many times higher.] The warhead count for the Russians, based the Sept. 1 report required under the 2010 New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START), shows an increase of 131 warheads since the last declaration on March 1. The U.S. reported a warhead increase of 57 during the same period. It is not clear why the warhead numbers increased. [US numbers of Russian warheads are simply an assumption that the Russians are in compliance with all treaties—a laughable idea meant only to deceive the American public. Notice that even when the US says the Russian count has increased rather than decreased, they never protest or explain how they know this, and no one asks.]

#9 Russia has a massive advantage over the United States and NATO when it comes to tactical nuclear weapons… NATO countries have only 260 tactical nuclear weapons in the ETO. The United States has 200 bombs with a total capacity of 18 megatons. They are located on six air bases in Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Turkey. France has 60 more atomic bombs. That is pretty much it. Russia, according to conservative estimates, has 5,000 pieces of different classes of TNW – from Iskander warheads to torpedo, aerial and artillery warheads! The US has 300 tactical B-61 bombs on its own territory, but this does not change the situation against the backdrop of such imbalance. The Americans are well aware of this. They were convinced before that Russia would never rise again… [Nonsense. The US government always knew that the fall of the Soviet Union was a deception but they covered for the Russians.]

#10 Russian President Vladimir Putin has initiated a huge “weapons modernization program” that is projected to cost the equivalent of 540 billion dollars…

That includes tens of new ballistic missiles each year (SS-24s or Topol M road mobile missiles—which cannot be targeted), while the US just removed all of the triple warheads from our remaining 400 Minuteman III missiles, reducing them to 1 warhead each.

The China Threat: We have almost no firm intelligence on how many missiles and warheads the Chinese have, but the US estimate of a 100 is laughable, deliberately underplaying the China threat. The Chinese have over 3,000 miles of tunnels to hide their mobile missiles. Also from Snyder:

Just the other day the Chinese successfully tested a new submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missile… China’s JL-2 second-generation intercontinental-range submarine-launched ballistic missile, which has the ability to reach the continental USA, is already believed to be deployable by the People’s Liberation Army.

As I pointed out in prior years, the US will do anything to coverup or downplay the Chinese threat. The Chinese were even so bold as to infiltrate both the California coast (undetected during a naval exercise, no less) and the Gulf coast where they launched a ballistic missile into the sky which hundreds witnessed. The Pentagon tried to tell the public it was a jet contrail from an aircraft.

Snyder summarizes the deplorable state of public awareness, for which I fully blame the media and the government who purposely downplay these threats while they are in full preparation for nuclear war, both as a government and as individuals building private bunker-style shelters under their luxury homes in the Rockies.

Most Americans do not believe that any of this is a concern whatsoever. Most Americans just assume that a full-scale nuclear war is virtually impossible [and that if the government and media aren’t worried, it can’t be a real threat]. But the truth is that a successful first strike against the United States is more possible today than it ever has been before. Hopefully the American people will wake up to this reality before it is too late.

I prayed, then went to bed. I was still awake, when suddenly I heard a trumpet sound. A voice cried out to me, “Stand!”

In my vision, I was in America. I walked out of my home, and began to look for the one who had spoken to me. As I looked, I saw three men dressed alike. Two of the men carried weapons. One of the armed men came to me. “I woke you to show you what is to come.” He said. “Come with me.”

I didn’t know where I was being taken, but when we reached a certain place he said, “stop here!”

A pair of binoculars was handed to me, and I was told to look through them.

“Stand there, don’t move, and look,” he continued. “You will see what they are saying, and what they are preparing for America.”

The other two presidents spoke, “We, too, will fight for you.” Each had a place already planned as a point of attack.

All of them shook hands and hugged. Then they all signed a contract. One of them said, “We’re sure that Korea and Cuba will be on our side, too. Without a doubt, together, we can destroy America.”

GMO producers should be punished as terrorists, Russian MPs say

A draft law submitted to the Russian parliament seeks to impose punishment up to criminal prosecution to producers of genetically-modified organisms harmful to health or the environment.

The draft legislation submitted on Wednesday amends Russia’s law regulating GMOs and some other laws and provides for disciplinary action against individuals and firms, which produce or distribute harmful biotech products and government officials who fail to properly control them.

At worst, a criminal case may be launched against a company involved in introducing unsafe GMOs into Russia. Sponsors of the bill say that the punishment for such deeds should be comparable to the punishment allotted to terrorists, if the perpetrators act knowingly and hurt many people.

“When a terrorist act is committed, only several people are usually hurt. But GMOs may hurt dozens and hundreds. The consequences are much worse. And punishment should be proportionate to the crime,” co-author Kirill Cherkasov, member of the State Duma Agriculture Committee told RT.

Russian criminal code allows for a punishment starting with 15 years in jail and up to a life sentence for terrorism.

US CONTINUES DISARMING IN THE FACE OF RUSSIAN AGGRESSION

The Defense Department just announced its intent to remove 50 additional Minuteman missiles from their silos at 3 bases. They claim the empty silos will remain in warm status, meaning that they can be reloaded if needed. However, the US isn’t building any more missiles and they will be using up these missiles in tests over time. Their storage locations will be known to the Russians and thus can easily be destroyed if they still exist when war comes.

The Wall Street Journal reported on the fact that our government has finally acknowledged that the Russians violated the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which bans the testing, production and possession of nuclear missiles with a range between 310 and 3,400 miles:

Russia has tested at least three missiles—the R-500 cruise missile, the RS-26 ballistic missile and the Iskander-M semi-ballistic missile—that run afoul of the proscribed range limits.

But, rather than use this as an excuse to stop further US compliance with treaties, the US continues to disarm unilaterally. As I reported earlier in the WAB, “Russia has increased its counted deployed strategic nuclear forces over the past six months, while at the same time America’s stockpile of warheads and launchers has declined.”

As the WSJ further reports, Obama has dismissed Russia as a regional power, and he is maneuvering the US closer to a position of absolute nuclear inferiority to Russia.

Russia has seized Crimea and has 50,000 troops as a potential invasion force on the border with eastern Ukraine. The Kremlin is also abrogating the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, in which Kiev agreed to give up its nuclear arsenal—at the time the third largest in the world—in exchange for guarantees of its territorial integrity from Russia, the U.S. and U.K. That memorandum has now proved to be as much of a scrap of paper to the Kremlin as Belgium’s neutrality was to Berlin in the summer of 1914.

The Kremlin is also violating the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which bans the testing, production and possession of nuclear missiles with a range between 310 and 3,400 miles. Russia has tested at least three missiles—the R-500 cruise missile, the RS-26 ballistic missile and the Iskander-M semi-ballistic missile—that run afoul of the proscribed range limits.

The Obama Administration has suspected for years that Vladimir Putin was violating the INF Treaty, which supporters hail as the triumph of arms control. The Russians were boasting of their new missile capabilities in open-source literature as far back as 2007. Yet as defense analysts Keith Payne and Mark Schneider noted in these pages in February, “since 2009, the current administration’s unclassified arms-control compliance reports to Congress have been mum on the Russian INF Treaty noncompliance.”

At a minimum, Congress should call on Rose Gottemoeller, confirmed last month as under secretary of state for arms control over strenuous objections from Florida Senator Marco Rubio, to explain what the Administration knew, and what it disclosed, about Moscow’s INF violations when she negotiated New Start. [The US has always refused to publicize or acknowledge Russian treaty violations].

Ms. Gottemoeller has been publicly noncommittal on this point, perhaps because she knew New Start would never have won a two-thirds Senate majority if Russia’s INF cheating had been widely known. The episode reminds us of why people like former Arizona Senator Jon Kyl were right to oppose the ratification of New Start.

Mr. Obama has dismissed Russia as a regional power, but he is maneuvering the U.S. closer to a position of absolute nuclear inferiority to Russia. The imbalance becomes even worse when one counts tactical nuclear weapons, where Russia has a four-to-one numerical advantage over the U.S.

To the surprise of defense analysts, the Pentagon will make the sharpest cuts in the submarine and bomber legs of the nuclear triad, while mostly preserving the silo-based Minuteman ICBMs. This means that the U.S. will maintain a stationary, and vulnerable, nuclear force on the ground while largely dismantling what remains of our second-strike capability at sea and in the air. A crucial part of deterrence is convincing an adversary that you can survive a first strike. It does not help U.S. security to dismantle the most survivable part of the U.S. arsenal.

This is even more pernicious when you factor in PDD-60, the 1997 Presidential Decision Directive directing our missile forces to “not rely on launch on warning” but to prepare to retaliate after absorbing a nuclear first strike. That dumb nuclear doctrine is still in force, and has never been repealed, even by that nominal Republican president, George W. Bush.

That first strike would wipe out all of our silos if they were not allowed to launch on warning—and though our Missileers still believe they are going to get the order to launch on warning, I’m betting that order will never come. Without the command codes from the White House, they can’t launch. By cutting the rest of our strategic nuclear triad, we make sure the impact of that first strike cannot be recovered from. And don’t forget that in 1998 Clinton agreed to keep 50% of our missile subs in port to make sure they were more vulnerable—to assure Russia that we posed no threat to it. The WSJ concludes:

It’s fashionable in the West to dismiss this as “Cold War thinking,” but it appears that Vladimir Putin hasn’t given up on such thinking or he wouldn’t be investing in new nuclear delivery systems.

Cold War or no, recent events are providing daily reminders that the great-power rivalries of previous centuries are far from over. They have also offered the grim lesson that nations that forsake their nuclear deterrent, as Ukraine did, do so at considerable peril. After the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979 the Senate refused to ratify Jimmy Carter’s SALT II Treaty. Any serious response to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine should include a formal and public U.S. demarche about Russian cheating on the INF treaty, while promising to withdraw from New Start if the cheating continues.

Nuclear arsenals aside, the timing of Mr. Obama’s nuclear dismantling couldn’t be worse as Mr. Putin contemplates his next moves in Ukraine and sizes up a possible Western response.

“We the People,” the White House’s online petition website that claims it is “giving all Americans a way to engage their government on the issues that matter to them,” is currently hosting a petition for Alaska to leave the United States and join Russia.

The petition, written by S. V. of Anchorage, simply reads:

This evening we were digging into the validity of reports about Russia wanting Alaska, and what we discovered was startling.

First, we found a petition posted on WhiteHouse.gov signed by 6400 people (as of writing this post). The petition is titled: WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO: Alaska back to Russia.

Next, we found a huge ream of facts that the USA has been working towards giving Russia the Alaskan sea bed, as well as 8 islands — all without the permission or say-so by the Alaskans. This is not a conspiracy theory, it is a fact that the reader must research themselves by reading the materials in the links below. Look at the information yourself, and you will not only be shocked about Alaska, you will notice that the USA has been working to help Russia since the days of the old USSR. Even George W. Bush sounds like an Agenda 21 New World Order communist in his executive orders supporting the Alaskan give-away, using terms such as “climate change” & “environmental sustainability”. Truly shocking when we started paying attention.

Additionally, one must take a look at Obama’s actions in dealing with Putin and the Russians. The fact remains that Putin is a former KGB agent from the USSR, and his entire career has been built on assuming his current postition so that he can build Russia back to it’s old world status as the USSR. Putin is a KGB Communist, and when one observes how Obama is vertually subservient to Putin’s geo-political moves, we must wonder where Obama comes from.

Do a little homework and we realize that Obama is said to be a KGB agent designed to destory America from within. From Obama’s mysterious background to his present day dessimation of the U.S. Constitution, all signs points towards one thing: Obama may be working for the Communist Soviets all along. The facts leading up to that conclusion are undeniable, and it is also undeniable that Putin has fooled the world as a New World Order PR master as he nudges the world towards Soviet principles and power.

THE UKRAINE MESS: FACT FROM FICTION

The Ukraine conflict has reached such a level murkiness and complexity due to deception and misdirection by all the parties involved that deciphering the situation taxes even the most experienced of conspiracy analysts. A lot of mistaken conclusions are being presented by both major and alternative media. The Ukraine opposition has been infiltrated by both Western globalists and Russia-controlled sleepers, so it’s hard to tell who is directing what. Russia is claiming that those providing “security” for the airports and major bases in Crimea are just “local militia”, but why do they wear masks and uniforms without insignias, and drive Special Forces vehicles with Russian tags? Supposedly, pro-Russian oligarches in official positions in eastern Ukraine have been replaced with pro-western oligarches, but all the “Post-Soviet” oligarches have been allies of the continuing Soviet leadership (who still run the show behind the scenes), why should we expect these new ones to be any different? This week, I’ll try and help readers figure out what real and what’s fake.

Let’s start with Russian President Putin’s press conference this week where he stated, “It was an unconstitutional overthrow and an armed seizure of power.”

First, every coup is an unconstitutional action—that’s a given—but it was Putin’s own pro-Russian majority party in Ukraine (Regions Party) that voted almost unanimously for Yanukovych’s ouster and the coup couldn’t have taken place without their wholesale agreement. So, if Putin is really complaining about the unconstitutional coup he has only his own lackeys to blame. As I said last week, the opposition could never have forced most of the Regions’ delegates to go along with the ouster—only Putin’s orders could have done that.

Second, if it was an “armed seizure of power,” where were the arms? Only the Berkut (Ukraine’s special police) and the regular police had any quantity of armed personnel and they were under the control of Yanukovych right up to the phony coup. The opposition may have had a few dozen hunting weapons but that isn’t enough for an armed seizure of power. As I pointed out last week, someone had to give the order to cause the armed forces to stand down—and that couldn’t have been the opposition.

Further, despite Putin’s rhetoric, this isn’t going to escalate into a world war with the West because 1) Russia isn’t ready to take on the West militarily and 2) the US and EU have showed no inclination to send in military forces as a counter force in Crimea, thus denying Russia any excuse to attack the West. How could Putin excuse attacking the West and starting WWIII if the West isn’t contesting his actions in Ukraine with anything other than weak rhetoric and tepid sanctions?

The US has made some token military moves. They moved six fighters to Poland, a frigate into the Black sea, and redeployed a Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response team to Spain. Even Russia’s claim to have authorized an invasion hasn’t amounted to anything except a few hundred Special Forces at best, and the repositioning of a few ships to the black sea.

Both sides are engaged in a symbolic show of force to probe how the other will react. For instance, after US fighters arrived in Poland, Russia began an air defense drill in response. Russia’s only direct confrontation inside Crimea with Ukrainian military was the shooting of a few rounds over the heads Ukrainian soldiers at a military base to test control.

Rumors that the Russian 20th and 48th armies are getting ready to invade Eastern Ukraine have not materialized. They may be drawing up contingency plans, as usual, but there have been no large troop movements of any kind. On the Ukrainian side, the provisional government mobilized troops and called up military reservists, but there is no corresponding movement of troops to indicate a direct confrontation with Russian forces. I think it is clear that neither side wants a shooting war over this, yet.

I watched with interest to see how fellow anti-globalists like Paul Craig Roberts and Paul Joseph Watson would react to my arguments that the coup in Ukraine was done by Putin and not by the globalists. Roberts, in particular, has been painting Putin as the victim of Western globalist aggression, a mistaken analysis, though he is correct in thinking that the globalists are predators with their own agenda. This week, Roberts was predicting this could lead to a nuclear war with Russia, showing he doesn’t yet understand what criteria, on both sides, have to be in place for that to happen.

He fails to realize that the globalist objective is not to push Russia out of Ukraine, but to provoke a long-term conflict there to help usher in World War III and ultimately stampede Americans into forming a militarized global government in response. But even the globalists have to wait until Russia and China make the big move. They can’t push so hard that it looks like the West is starting the war with Russia.

Paul Joseph Watson had a chance to respond to my claims on Monday during a show on the Alex Jones channel (Alex interviewed me and my point of view last Friday). The host mentioned that “we heard from Joel Skousen this week” that the evidence pointed to the pro-Russian forces being responsible for the coup. Watson, who does a great job pulling together the news stories for Infowars.com each week, responded by saying he disagreed and then proceeded to recite the evidence of Western influence and money on the opposition. But this misses the point.

I have never disputed that there is Western meddling in the Ukraine opposition, but this alone cannot and does not explain the coup. Watson never addressed my arguments that only pro-Russian forces could have ordered the defense forces to stand-down, or ordered the Regions Party to vote against Yanukovych.

Western meddling did and continues to occur, but it alone can’t explain the stand-down order and the too-good-to-be-true unanimous vote of the Regions Party, which hated the opposition, in favor of the ouster. Pro-Russian leaders wouldn’t have pulled this phony coup were they not in control of the opposition leaders, who are only playing along with the West so the West gets the blame when austerity measures and other problems become unpopular.

The Sniper Claim: This week, those who blame the coup entirely on Western intervention have a new argument that they say surely proves their point. Officers of Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) loyal to the ousted President Viktor Yanukovych hacked phones of Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet speaking with EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton. This was said 8 minutes into the conversation: [my comments in brackets]

Paet: “All the evidence shows that people who were killed by snipers from both sides, policemen and people from the streets, that they were the same snipers killing people from both sides. … Some photos that showed it is the same handwriting, the same type of bullets, and it is really disturbing that now the new coalition they don’t want to investigate what exactly happened [this latter point may be evidence of a cover up but it doesn’t tell us anything about who is covering for whom. If the new opposition government is a phony opposition sleeper for Russia, as I claim, then it could just as well be covering for a pro-Russian sniper doing the false-flag shooting]. So there is now stronger and stronger understanding [he’s not fluent in English. The more correct word, given that he doesn’t really know is “suspicion”] that behind the snipers, it was not Yanukovych, but it was somebody from the new coalition.” [Saying “somebody” shows that he doesn’t know and the people who talked to him don’t know—they, being from Regions Party, are assuming it’s the opposition. And, most of them may not actually know who is pulling the strings on the opposition. In fact, that is likely, so that the truth doesn’t leak out.]

Ashton: “I think we do want to investigate. I mean, I didn’t pick that up, that’s interesting. Gosh.” [indicates that 1) she wasn’t aware of any refusal to investigate and 2) that she is willing to investigate]

Paet (in an earlier part of the conversation): “[There is] no trust of the opposition, have dirty past.[true] I was talking to Regions (party)... “tremendous pressure on party members, univited visitors during the night, one parliament member beaten on the street by an armed group…[but only after they had voted for the ouster, proving that someone got to them before these obvious threats were made (for public consumption)] Opposition will not leave the streets until real reform happens [the real opposition members are different from the public opposition leaders, who are always created and directed by the powers behind the scene, just as in Moscow]—not enough to have a change of government.

Analysis: First of all, none of this conversation provides any definitive evidence justifying his pointing the finger at the opposition. What Paet says is clearly third hand information, first, from pro-Russian contacts in the SBU, and then to members of the pro-Russian Regions party who were feeding this info to Paet. We are left to presume the SBU extracted and compared the bullets killing the various protestors and police. But there are various levels of bullet analysis and his weak English recitation of facts is clearly insufficient to tell us what specifically was investigated.

But even if the Security Services did get a specific bullet match to a single rifle, it tells us nothing about who was behind the rifle and who he (or they) worked for. Until you find the shooter(s), which won’t happen unless someone on the inside talks, you have no evidence sufficient to blame one side or the other.

The Crimean conflict: Let’s now look at Putin’s claims justifying Russian aggression in Crimea and how he’s going to push these claims to his advantage (working off the list put together by the US State Dept):

1) That Russian forces in Crimea are only acting to protect Russian military assets.

That’s hard to justify. There never was any threat to Russian bases by the provisional Ukrainian government. In fact, Putin made his move before the new government was even a day old. You don’t restructure a government in that amount of time—which means that essentially, the same people are running the bureaucracy and military that was there during Yanukovych’s reign.

2) That “citizen defense” groups, not Russian forces, seized infrastructure and military facilities and who are rushing to lock down Crimea for Russia.

Not true. They may wear uniforms without insignia, but their vehicles have Russian military license plates and the types of vehicles are used exclusively by Russian Special Forces. Moreover, the kinds of automatic weapons being used are not available to civilians.

3) Mr. Putin claims that Russia’s actions fall within the scope of the 1997 Friendship Treaty between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

Yes, but the 1997 agreement requires Russia to respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Russia’s military actions in seizing control of Ukrainian military bases and civilian airports is clearly a violation of the agreement.

4) That the opposition failed to implement the February 21 agreement with former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, which opposition leaders signed.

Opposition leaders say that they were in the process of following through and that Yanukovych was to sign the legislation taking Ukraine back to the Constitution of 2004 within 24 hours and bring the crisis to a peaceful conclusion. But Yanukovych (on the orders of someone) fled the country and did not sign. Naturally, Putin’s initial claim that Yanukovych is still the legitimate leader of Ukraine is also faltering. Putin now admits that there is no going back to Yanukovych, saying he “has no political future.”

5) That there is a humanitarian crisis and hundreds of thousands are fleeing Ukraine to Russia and seeking asylum.

Not true. There has been no action taken against the Russian speaking people, so why should they flee. The only people who claim to be threatened were members of the Regions party, and we suspect that’s only political theater to help justify why they suddenly switched their votes, without naming who gave them the orders. There is absolutely no evidence a flood of asylum-seekers fleeing Ukraine for Russia or “mass attacks on churches and synagogues in southern and eastern Ukraine,” either.

6) Putin claims that the Rada is under the influence of extremists or terrorists.

Yes, everyone is playing the Right-wing threat card. The Svoboda (Freedom) party is the only “far right wing ultranationalist group” that has published photographs of members wearing Nazi symbols or giving the Nazi salute. Normal, credible people don’t do this. Virtually every neo-Nazi group in the world that I have examined is run by or funded by government agents to give the right wing a bad name. Either Russia or the West could be behind promoting Neo Nazis—Russia to denigrate the opposition or the West to denigrate the most libertarian of opposition factions that they can’t control—by linking them in people’s mind with Nazism.

Besides the Russian military takeover of Crimea, the key move by Russia is to push for the appearance of a public demand for autonomy for Crimea. Russia used its influence to have a pro-Russian leader elected to the head of the Crimea regional government this week, who then got the Crimean parliament to declare its intent to become part of Russia by scheduling a vote on the issue set for March 16.

There will only be two options for voting: 1) merging Crimea with Russia or 2) restoring the 1992 Crimean Constitution, whereby the peninsula would remain an autonomous republic within Ukraine. There is no third option for voting for independence. Neither the globalists nor Russia want anyone to be independent anymore.

The West is verbally adamant against allowing Russia to merge Crimea within its borders, even though it has made no claims of military options to prohibit such a move. Even arch globalist Henry Kissinger emerged to write an op-ed piece in the Washington Post urging, in typically euphemistic language, that the West continue to placate Russia while encouraging compromise within Ukraine—in other words, stretch out the issue into the future.

Wise Ukrainian leaders would then opt for a policy of reconciliation between the various parts of their country. Internationally, they should pursue a posture comparable to that of Finland. That nation leaves no doubt about its fierce independence and cooperates with the West in most fields but carefully avoids institutional hostility toward Russia. [This policy is called Finlandization–exchanging superficial liberty for non-criticism of Russian dominance]

But in no case was Crimea to be allowed to go to Russia:

It is incompatible with the rules of the existing world order for Russia to annex Crimea. But it should be possible to put Crimea’s relationship to Ukraine on a less fraught basis. To that end, Russia would recognize Ukraine’s sovereignty over Crimea. Ukraine should reinforce Crimea’s autonomy in elections held in the presence of international observers. The process would include removing any ambiguities about the status of the Black Sea Fleet at Sevastopol.

As I said last week, this policy will not solve the tensions, but will ensure they can be shifted into the future when Russia is militarily able to take on the West and reabsorb by force all of the former Soviet states.

Earlier, Ukraine’s interim president met with leaders in France on Wednesday and strongly down-played any prospect of war with Russia—sending a message that there will be no military confrontation. The Franco-German plan for Ukraine is one that hopes to stabilize the current conflict and yet not resolve it in the long term. According to French foreign minister Fabius:

It envisages a national unity government, a pullback of Russian forces, the dissolution of extremist militias and moves to organize a presidential election as quickly as possible.

President Barack Obama said the Crimea referendum is illegal: “Any discussion about the future of Ukraine must include the legitimate government… In 2014 we are well beyond the days when borders can be drawn over the heads of democratic leaders.”

Obama’s words are a violation of the spirit of the Declaration of Independence (1776), which clearly says that people have the right, without permission of government, to declare their independence when their fundamental rights are being violated and when petitions for redress have been ignored. It’s disturbing when the presumed leader of the free world denies the political justification for independence.

Secretary of State Kerry also had this little piece of hypocrisy to promote before leaving for Ukraine. Ben Swann hammered Kerry for telling NBC’s Meet The Press this week, “You just don’t invade another country on phony pretext in order to assert your interests… This is an act of aggression that is completely trumped up in terms of its pretext. It’s really 19th century behavior in the 21st century.”

Swann responds,

Seriously? This from the same Secretary of State who pushed for the U.S. to fire cruise missiles on Damascus because of sarin gas that he “knew” was used by the Syrian government but later turned out could have been used by so called “rebels”? This statement from the same government that went to war in Iraq over weapons of mass destruction that didn’t exist. That kind of phony pretext?

Indeed! Gross hypocrisy.

Sanctions: Secretary of State John Kerry said in Kiev that the US and other Western nations are considering economic sanctions against Russia, including seizing of foreign bank assets and cutting off trade. Kerry said,

“every single one of them are prepared to go to the hilt in order to isolate Russia with respect to this invasion. They’re prepared to put sanctions in place, they’re prepared to isolate Russia economically.”

But so far, that hasn’t happened. Putin fired right back saying he would retaliate by cutting off gas supplies to the EU and stopping payment on all the money Western banks have loaned Russia. While many people are hyping the danger of Russia dumping US Treasuries, that’s not as much a threat to the US as the holder of bonds. Dumping causes the price to fall and the dumper loses more and more as he sells.

But Russia is tightly interlocked with Europe in trade and neither can afford trade sanctions. More than 70 percent of Russiás gas and oil flows to Europe pass through Ukraine, and Europe buys about 90 percent of Russiás oil exports. Stop buying Russian oil and such European gas prices skyrocket.

Then there’s the issue of natural gas. Germany gets 36% of its gas from Russia, the UK gets 25% from Russia, France about 15% from Russia and Italy, 27%. So total economic sanctions are a bluff. Neither side can afford them—and that is why Europe will never contest Russian aggression until it is too late, speaking of the long-term future.

Obama, rather than backing down on foolish sanctions, is playing a phony trump card: executive sanctions of a minor order: This week he announced that the Treasury Department will impose sanctions on “individuals and entities” responsible for Russia’s military takeover in Crimea or for “stealing the assets of the Ukrainian people.” That little stunt avoids targeting Russia while still appearing to be tough.

Obama also got the EU to announce the freeze of the assets of Mr. Yanukovych and of 17 of his closest aides and family members, holding them responsible for the embezzlement of state fund. He should also have included many wealthy opposition leaders like Yulie Tymoshenko who has embezzled millions in state funds as well.

US former Sec of Defense Robert Gates, who also headed the CIA, and is a globalist said that Putin “knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s trying to re-establish Russian influence and a measure of control over the former states of the Soviet Union.”

And, that’s exactly what the globalist knew he would do sometime after the phony fall of the Soviet Union, which they helped promulgate by not exposing what a sham it was.

Here are some excerpts from a quote from J R Nyquist on the overall nature of the deceptive fall of Communism and how it relates to Ukraine:

The KGB of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics relied on Tsarist methods of controlled opposition and networks of secret agents, many of whom pretended to be enemies of the government.

Because of the KGB’s ability to infiltrate Moscow’s opposition, all revolutions or political changes in former East Bloc countries are a puzzle [I claim they are a fraud]. We can never be sure who has actually won until we see, after time has passed, whether power has really changed hands; that is, whether the old Communist elite remains in charge of the army and police, the media and economic system, and key government posts.[and that is exactly what has happened in all the “former” Soviet satellite states] The analysis here is simple to do, but nobody in the West tries doing it. There is no career advancement in such analysis, especially in Western countries where the powers-that-be hear what they want to hear, and blot out the rest.

Sadly, Nyquist steadfastly refuses to believe there is a conspiracy in government and the media to blot out these truths—preferring to believe it is mere stupidity and the work of Communist infiltrators that explains all US foreign policy failures relative to communism. But he does agree with me here:

Therefore, the Soviet Empire remains intact through the operation of hidden structures. KGB-controlled opposition was the story in 1989 and 1991. It has always been the untold story. It will continue to be untold until the hidden Soviet Union is taken down, at long last. I have spoken to schoolmates of Vaclav Havel who described him as the perfect instrument of the Communist state – as a fake dissident and a man who could be trusted by the KGB. In 1992 a Fighting Solidarity leader told me that Lech Walesa was a long-time stooge of the Polish secret police. Since that time Walesa’s secret police codename (BOLEK) has been published

Nyquist has good insights into who’s fake and who’s real in the Ukraine opposition:

Who is on Moscow’s team in Kiev? Most of the parliament, for starters [including the major opposition leaders]; Yulia Tymoshenko in particular; the heads of the security services and military, excepting all those who are secretly working with the Ukrainian underground.

To know that there is a powerful underground movement,[in Ukraine] with its own tentacles burrowed into Moscow, is not mere optimism. The Ukrainians were Soviets, and as such they had access to the same game the Russians were playing on them. Ukrainians have experience, access, and a motivation for playing the Russians at their own game.

My only reservation about Nyquist’s claim about the strength of the Ukraine undergroundf is that these former Soviet Ukrainian insiders were mostly corrupt and are not inclined to help out real liberty as they are inclined to stay within the corrupt, but hidden, continuing Soviet system. Some of them became wealthy oligarches and took their corruption to the next higher level. Undoubtedly, there are a few principled people who are working the underground, but I doubt Nyquist’s claim that they have much ability to infiltrate back up the chain into Moscow. Evil can smell goodness and root them out, much easier than good people can see through evil masquerading as good. So I believe the true underground is small in number and weak.

The Kremlin has many weapons, many agents, and many deceptions at its command. A former socialist country must, in itself, resemble a “wilderness of mirrors.” The Communists like to confuse the political process in every country. This also applies to Germany, part of which was also a “Communist Country” (i.e., the German Democratic Republic). If we hear that (the conservative) German Chancellor Angela Merkel is now eager to meet with former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who has recently been let out of prison, we must first reckon with Merkel’s Communist past before we reckon with Tymoshenko’s role as Moscow’s little helper; for both women have a peculiar relationship to Moscow which extends far back in time. [true]

A German journalist recently wrote to me about Merkel, saying that German intelligence attempted to warn the Christian Democrats that Merkel was “a dangerous person.” But the Christian Democrats didn’t listen, and now Germany is more dependent on Russian natural gas than ever before.

But like Marxist Tony Blair, who switched sides and became a globalist, it is very possible that Merkel has switched sides too. That doesn’t mean she couldn’t switch back again if the Soviets win the next war, but I think she knows they won’t—that Russia is being set up to be taken down in the next war. China will become the new hegemon and cold war enemy of the global government.

I had the chance to speak with Ukrainian activist Boris Chykulay , who explained the situation as follows: “Instinctively people know that they fight against a hidden USSR. You can see this in all the cities now with the fall of so many Lenin monuments.” [few Ukrainians see through the phony fall of Communism, but they hate Russian dominance past and present, which accounts for pulling down the memories of Soviet rule]

“The problem we now face,” Chykulay said, “is that Putin merely says goodbye to Mafiosi Yanukovych. Now he starts to work with normal agents .” [the controlled opposition] As another activist added, the politicians who are now coming forward to direct affairs are former Soviet Komsomol leaders (now in parliament), the most committed Communists of the old system. These are not democrats by any stretch of the imagination. According to Chykulay, these “normal Soviet agents” are telling the Maidan protestors to go home. The revolution has been won.

“They are trying to keep the old system, without any… changes, they want to close the case,” he explained. “Russia will try to control Ukraine through its old network; through Yulia Tymoshenko and others. She said, ‘Dear Ukrainians, I won’t let the government hurt you anymore.’ So you see, they already describe the Ukrainian government as something separate from the Ukrainian people. She doesn’t say the Ukrainians have any part in the government. They want to save the hidden Soviet structures. The Ukrainians are therefore told, in all seriousness, ‘you won’t be attacked.’”

Is there danger of Ukraine coming under direct attack? Could the Russians intervene with troops? Chykulay responds, “Yes, Western Ukraine is a potential target,” Chykulay replied. “They will say the people in Lviv are fascists, and they will depict the Ukrainians as right wing extremists.” The Kremlin has, indeed, threatened to invade any former Soviet country where the rights of the local Russian-speaking minority are not respected.

The Kremlin has many devices, and many tricks to play before things reach such an extremity… There is a cautious optimism on the part of Ukrainian activists. Previous attempts at freedom have been thwarted, it is true, but Maidan has good tactics and refuses to be fooled by Kremlin stooges. A Ukrainian analyst explained it thus: “As it happens, the people will not accept the leaders’ attempts to wiggle out. This morning Maidan had a massive meeting about Tymoshenko. They called it an ‘action meeting’ which was held against the return of Tymoshenko to politics. If she comes back, they said, the gangster clan will take over and nothing will change. They are demanding a total reset.”

Nyquist’s closing statement is optimistic:

The anti-Communist counter-revolution in Ukraine grows in power. Moscow sends its puppets into the meat-grinder. One is chewed up after another. Which will emerge as the new leader? Perhaps the controlled opposition game has exhausted its possibilities in Ukraine.

I’m not as optimistic. The opposition is weak and tired of being out in the cold. They may see through Tymoshenko, but if so, the Russians will keep searching until they find a believable opposition puppet. After all, like US conservatives, the Powers That Be know that in a democracy, the opposition has “no other place to go” than to vote for people the PTB allow to be elected.

Summary: I’m still convinced it’s too early for Russia to go to war with the West, so this situation will not trigger WWIII, but the Crimean referendum will surely tend toward cementing Russia’s claim to hold power there. By occupying Crimea, Putin will make sure that only Western Ukraine can negotiate with the EU in the future, and with Russian troops in Crimea, Ukraine won’t be able to join NATO.

The EU is already cementing ties with Western Ukraine by offering a $15B loan. It won’t even come close to solving Ukraine’s bankrupt status, but it will provide the excuse for closer ties and continuing bailouts and austerity measures that will eventually boost EU/Russian tensions.

I’m betting that the result of the Crimea election will be a semi-autonomous republic rather than leaving Ukraine. Secession would tend to force Ukraine’s hand militarily—which they cannot hope to win. It also makes a peaceful resolution much more difficult without losing face. But either way, there won’t be war in the near term.

The globalist agenda of further dealings with Russia, including disarmament, will be severely hampered if Russia gets too aggressive in taking back the Russian-speaking areas. Then again, I’ve known the globalists to turn a blind eye to much worse than this (savage suppression of the Hungarian revolution) and resume aid and trade with Russia, given enough time to let the public forget. Trouble is, there isn’t a lot of time left before the big confrontation that awaits us.

The 2014 Sochi Olympics have become a giant testing ground for some of the most intensive, extensive and intrusive electronic surveillance operations ever mounted. There’s even evidence that criminal hackers are working alongside Russian spies to mine information.

“Sochi is a trial run,” says Keir Giles, a cyber security expert at the Royal Institute of Strategic Studies in London. A special section of the Russian security force FSB – the successor to the KGB – has spent years perfecting a total monitoring system around Sochi which automatically tracks mobile calls, email, social networks and all the links between them, adding in data from passenger lists, drones and roadside cameras.

It’s enormously sophisticated and of course expensive – but also, most notably perhaps, the first rollout of a new generation of absolute surveillance. If it works in Sochi, the FSB is expected to deploy its new toy across Russia – and other totalitarian, and supposedly not so totalitarian, countries might also be interested.

RUSSIA AND CHINA ARE THE BIGGEST MILITARY SPENDERS

Although the world is starting to wake up to the fact that Russia and China are spending billions on rearmament, they never seem to come to the conclusion that they are a real threat. Russia will begin construction on nine submarines in the next two years, including four of the new strategic missile Borey class. But China’s build rate is much higher. Here’s the story by the UK Telegraph:

Soaring defense budgets in China and Russia mean global military spending is growing for the first time in five years, according to new forecasts. Spending across Asia and the Middle East is surging even as the military powers of Europe and the US are forced to scale back dramatically in the face of austerity cuts – contributing to a steady change in the balance of military power.

The figures were disclosed as the secretary general of Nato issued a stark warning that the West will cede influence on the world stage because of its falling spending. Anders Fogh Rasmussen said he was concerned about falling funding in Washington and European capitals while there was a military spending spree in Russia and China.

The admission that the West is “ceding military influence” hides the real issue: that Western military disarmament has always led to another world war—without exception. Kris Osborn of military.com talks about the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) report on how China is rapidly building its blue water navy.

The Chinese navy has ambitious plans over the next 15 years to rapidly advance its fleet of surface ships and submarines as well as maritime weapons and sensors, according to a U.S. Navy report… ONI leaders found that China’s navy has evolved from a littoral force to one that is capable of meeting a wide range of missions to include being “increasingly capable of striking targets hundreds of miles from the Chinese mainland.”

The Chinese navy has 77 surface combatants, more than 60 submarines, 55 amphibious ships and about 85 missile-equipped small ships [the US has 193 combat ships]. The report explains that more than 50 naval ships were “laid down, launched or commissioned” in 2013 and a similar number is planned for 2014.

During the late 1990s, “virtually all of [China’s] ships and submarines were essentially single-mission platforms, poorly equipped to operate beyond the support of land-based defenses,” ONI said. Now, China’s newest destroyer, the Luyang III-class DDG, will likely enter service this year, featuring a sophisticated phased array radar system. …

Overall, the Navy’s intelligence leadership believes that 85 percent of the Chinese naval fleet will be deemed “modern” by the U.S. by 2020.

There’s that date again—showing that China will be close to readiness for war in the next decade.

ONI raised concerns about China’s fast-growing submarine force, to include the Jin-class ballistic nuclear submarines, which will likely commence deterrent patrols in 2014, according to the report. The expected operational deployment of the Jin SSBN “would mark China’s first credible at-sea-second-strike nuclear capability,” the report states.

The submarine would fire the JL-2 submarine launched ballistic missile, which has a range of 4,000 nautical miles and would “enable the Jin to strike Hawaii, Alaska and possibly western portions of CONUS [Continental United States] from East Asian waters,” ONI assessed. [But that’s a disingenuous statement. Those same subs have already launched a missile from off the coast of California that can hit anywhere on our mainland.]

The report says the Chinese currently have five nuclear attack submarines, four nuclear ballistic missile submarines and 53 diesel attack submarines. Overall, China’s fleet of submarines has quickly increased in offensive weapons technology over the last 10 years. A decade ago, only a few Chinese submarines could fire modern anti-ship cruise missiles. Now, more than half of the conventional attack submarines are configured to fire ASCMs, the report states.

“The type-095 guided missile attack submarine, which China will likely construct over the next decade, may be equipped with a land-attack capability,” the assessment explains. This could enable Chinese submarines with an enhanced ability to strike U.S. bases throughout the region, the report adds.

Overall, according to current trends over the next 10 years, China will complete its transformation into an extensive, modern, high-tech naval force with global reach and influence.

WITH GROWING RUSSIAN MISSILE THREAT, US STILL DISARMING

It is ironic that Russia is relatively open about its military modernization. Most of today’s sources are from the “Voice of Russia,” which used to be called Radio Moscow. Although it would be naive to assume that they are telling all, it does prove my point that the US intelligence agencies are desperately trying to downplay these advances and future threats. These agencies won’t even comment on what the Russians blatantly broadcast to the world (which our media omits as well).

I think that’s because the globalists who control our government intend to continue unilateral disarmament, which I’ll cover shortly. First here’s the latest arms build-up revelation from Voice of Russia.

Russia will have built a new heavy liquid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile by late 2018, a missile that will prove largely superior to all of its predecessors, including the world’s most powerful strategic missile Voyevoda, (NATO reporting name SS-18 Satan), in terms of combat effectiveness and the ability to penetrate the US missile defense system.

The US spent a lot of taxpayer money dismantling some of Russia’s old SS-18 missiles, (and handing back all the warheads to Russia) but only until Russia backed out of the deal last year and announced it was keeping the rest of the SS-18’s on station. That’s why this new missile is being built—to provide a replacement for these aging but powerful launch vehicles, and to provide a faster boost phase that is intended to outrun US solid fueled ABM missiles.

This came in a statement for journalists by the Commander of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces Sergei Karakayev. He pointed out that it is the deployment of the US global missile defence system, a system that grows more powerful each year that prompted Russia to think of counteraction. The missile defence system that the United States plans to deploy in Europe will be able to intercept Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles, deployed in European Russia.

The US claims the European antimissile system is designed to counter Iran’s missile threat, but Russia exposed US perfidy by offering the US a base in southern Russia closer to Iran and the US refused. Russia is the only country in Europe with ICBMs, so it rightly assumes the ABMs are aimed at them. ICBMs and submarine-based ballistic missiles are the backbone of Russia’s nuclear forces. Russia says their missiles are for “containment” of the US, but we know they are preparing for a nuclear first strike on America.

Russia is in full development of missiles capable of evading the US anti-missile defense system—which isn’t hard to do since the US ABM missiles have no warhead. The kinetic tip must make physical contact with the incoming missile to kill it, and that is extremely hard to do at the hypersonic speed of reentry. Here’s Voice of Russia again on the subject:

Under any possible scenario the Russian Strategic Missile Forces will be capable to withstand the potential of any missile defense system and to ensure fulfillment of tasks, Sergei Karakayev, Commander of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces, has told today.

The only way a ballistic missile warhead can evade is to maneuver, and you need rocket boosters to be integrated into the warhead to do that. That turns each warhead into a small guided missile, and that makes them larger and heavier—hence the need for the new and improved liquid fueled ICBMs to replace the SS-18 remaining on station. Even if the resort to movable control surfaces, that would require a longer warhead with room for a power supply and controls. But control surfaces don’t do well under hypersonic speeds.

Another problem with these larger missiles is that they are not road mobile, but they can be carried on rail cars. Nobody depends on silos anymore except the US—because they want the enemy to know where our missiles are. The US is engaging in nuclear suicide.

According to Colonel-General Karakaev, the Russian Strategic Missile Forces has six types of missile launches, both stationary and mobile, including the fifth generation Yars and Topol-M launchers, in arsenal. Karakaev noted that effectiveness of any strike force suggests a sustainable resistance to any outer impact, including a nuclear one.

The Forces account for two thirds of Russia’s nuclear weapons. Possessing a big arsenal of intercontinental ballistic missiles, they are capable of hitting any target anywhere in the world with pinpoint accuracy.

Their arsenal consists of six missile types – three, based in silos, and three, mounted on rail platforms or trucks. Importantly, the US does not possess truck- or rail-mounted missiles.

Dr Igor Korotchenko is Editor-in-Chief of the Natsionalnaya Oborona, or National Defence, journal: The might of Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces safeguards a secure future for our country. The latest addition to this might is the RS-24 Yars intercontinental ballistic missile, which can be positioned in a silo or on the back of a heavy truck. A missile of this type carries six independently targeted nuclear warheads of 150 kilotons TNT each. The Forces also possess another truck-mounted intercontinental missile, the Topol-M. It carries a single powerful nuclear warhead, which is capable of wiping out a megacity.

The Russians complain about the US backing out of the ABM treaty, which we should never have signed—since Russia never abandoned her arsenal of ABMs.

The Forces are taking on a new strategic dimension as the Americans, having withdrawn from the 1972 ABM limitation treaty, continue to refuse to extend binding guarantees that no US missile defense installation on European soil will compromise Russia’s deterrence capability. Powerful missiles capable of smashing through missile defenses are a guarantee in themselves.

But the Russian complaint conveniently omits telling that Russia backed out of the INF treaty (Intermediate Nuclear Forces) after it was found to be violating it, after the cold war ended (a carefully crafted deception). Russia never pulled their INF missiles out of Eastern Europe when the US destroyed its Pershing missiles, and the supposed anti-communist government of the Czech Republic never told the US the missiles were still there.

But with all this Russian cheating, the US steadfastly continues disarming as if it is required to by INF treaty that is already in shambles by Russia cheating. We are regaled almost weekly in the US by stories of Missiliers (Missile Launch Officers) moral being low, implicated in drugs scandals, and cheating on operational readiness exams. We are continually reminded how many billions are spent, hinting that this is a place to cut, now that the “cold war is over.”

Over 10 years, the estimated cost is $24 billion for ICBMs; $82 billion for nuclear submarines; and $40 million for nuclear bombers, as well as $11 billion for other activities, including DOD research related to nuclear forces that the Congressional Budget Office couldn’t directly attribute to one of the legs of the triad. –Great Falls Tribune

Well, the cold war never was over and new a hot war is coming to this country, probably in the next decade. So, it’s no time to disarm, but that’s where we are headed. The Great Falls (MT) Tribune put out this little propaganda piece entitled: “Navy may reduce nuke numbers: Move would give ICBMs breathing room” The essence is that, “if the Navy gives up some of their submarine missiles, the US won’t have to destroy as many land based missiles in our home town.” Is this a jobs issue, or one of National Survival? With thinking like this, we’ve got real problems.

A recent report from the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists indicated the Navy will begin reducing the total number of deployed submarine launched ballistic missiles by 56. Though there has been no formal announcement by the Navy, the expected reduction could give the current intercontinental ballistic missile force some breathing room.

Especially when coupled with the reductions that will come from eliminating 50 unused Minuteman III silos in the Malmstrom Air Force Base missile field and 51 empty Peacemaker silos assigned to F.E. Warren AFB in Wyoming and Vandenberg AFB in California.

The Peacekeeper was the largest and most powerful missile the US ever produced. It was dismantled, but not destroyed. The missile guidance and rocket bodies are being stored at Hill AFB and in the West desert of Utah. But if they destroy the silos, these missiles won’t be able to be put back into commission when needed most—as Russian cheating becomes more obvious. The Department of Defense is expected to start implementing the New START plan in May or June of this year (also from the Great Falls Tribune):

According to a Congressional Research Service report from July 2013, with the launcher reduction on Trident submarines and the elimination of decommissioned silos, as well as the conversion of nuclear bombers to non-nuclear and the elimination of the last nuclear B-52G just before Christmas, the Air Force could potentially retain all 450 silos with only 400 containing missiles at any given time. Montana congressmen in particular have pushed back against an environmental study of ICBMs [to force yet more unilateral disarmament]

The New START treaty, ratified by the Senate in 2010, limits the United States and Russia to no more than 1,550 deployed warheads; 800 deployed and nondeployed ICBM launchers; submarine-launched ballistic missile launchers and heavy bombers; and to have reduced their deployed ICBMs, SLBMs and heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments to no more than 700.

According to data from the State Department, the U.S. has 809 deployed ICBMs, SLBMs and heavy bombers; Russia has 473. The U.S. has 1,688 warheads on deployed ICBMs, SLBMs and nuclear warheads counted for deployed heavy bombers; Russia has 1,400. The U.S. has 1,015 deployed and nondeployed launchers of ICBMs, SLBMs and heavy bombers; Russia has 894. The deadline to reach those limits is February 2018.

The last B-52G accountable under New START was destroyed just before Christmas by sawing off the plane’s tail, rendering it useless.

The truth is, the State Department and CIA are lying about Russian numbers. They simply don’t know, and are putting out numbers assuming the Russians are in compliance with all former treaties—which they are not. Our inspectors have never been allowed into the full range of Russian weapons factories or depots—the largest of which is the huge underground complex at Yamantau Mountain in the Urals, east of Moscow. And, the US isn’t counting all the new missiles Russia is building, either. Russia specifically backed out of the Nunn Lugar deal last year, which provided US aid in dismantling old toxic weapons in exchange for inspections, specifically because they didn’t want any more inspections. Go figure!

We haven’t built a new missile in a couple of decades and have no intention of doing so, while the Russians are building at least 12 per year. Nobody knows how many the Chinese are building. And, why should we be disarming at all—even if Russia were complying—when you’ve got China building huge missile forces. Disarmament only works if it is verifiable and if all parties to nuclear missiles are taking part and in equal compliance. We haven’t even suggested to China that she engage in disarmament talks!

It’s not hard to see where this is headed—weakening our nuclear triad in order to induce a growing enemy to remove any fear of striking. The third World War is inevitable and it will put the final nail in the coffin of US liberty and national sovereignty.

As we review 2013 we see several grim threats to our liberties and safety that are looming so large even those with a minimum of discernment are waking up and growing uneasy even as conspiring men feign reform or pretend to ignore the issues. At home the US government has every intention of continuing warrantless spying, the Obamacare rollout and unending debt increases despite growing public disapproval and claims of reform. Abroad, foreign intervention is increasing while the great threats of China and Russia are emerging as real and visible but which our government has no intention of countering. Worse, we can no longer depend on our elected representatives to stop any of this. It’s time to prepare in earnest for the inevitable demise of liberty even if it may not be imminent. When it does come in the next decade, it will be swift and relentless. There will be no turning back.

Both Democrats and the compromised Republican leadership have no intention of putting up any real resistance to the slow and agonizing loss of American Liberty. Their half-hearted opposition to spying, the PATRIOT ACT, and the new NDAA signed into law this week is an assent by silence to the slow erosion of liberty and constitutional protections that continues unabated.

For example, support for Obamacare has plummeted across every spectrum of the public, even among people eager for government handouts. Polls sponsored by pro-government media, like CNN, put support in the mid-30 percentile, which should be sending shock waves through the Democrats in Congress. Instead, it’s full speed ahead with implementation.

Republican House Speaker John Boehner has no intention of bringing up repeal legislation again. Neither does he intend to stop deficit spending nor hold the line on the debt limit. Instead he trotted out conservative Paul Ryan to convince Republicans that the latest budget compromise is “the best we can get.” Ryan is turning out to be one of Boehner’s “useful idiots,” to quote Lenin.

These are all crucial high-profile battles that the Republicans purposely sabotaged and lost. The political capital is spent and the waters of reform are poisoned forever so that even as public support for repeal grows, they have an excuse “not to go there” again. And, Boehner and his lackeys are preparing to sell us out on amnesty as well. That’s coming up early next year.

The courts will also continue their relentless permissiveness of government illegal acts under the guise of protecting us from terror and defending state secrets. I’m not optimistic about the temporary setback for NSA spying that one judge timidly opined was “likely” unconstitutional. The Supreme Court will reluctantly find in favor of “limited” government spying as they have in the past.

Part and parcel of this finding is the government’s continual downplaying of the degree to which it surveils worldwide communications. The spy agencies only admit to collecting “metadata” when we all know they are recording content as well—with which they analyze, sort and build future action lists targeting dissidents and political resistors worldwide. This is only peripherally involved with fighting terror which, like drugs, the government promotes as much as it counters.

Spying, indefinite detention without due process, secret prisons, torture, illegal black operations and the militarization of local police forces is all part of the world government police state they intend to force upon us as soon as the next war justifies such a massive disavowal of constitutional limits and the liberty that is inherent in national and state sovereignty.

As part of this, the push for continual “free trade” agreements with Asian and European nations will continue. While I don’t expect them to be able to fully implement the New World Order with its required taxation and police powers via these preparatory agreements, they certainly are a stepping stone towards getting people accustomed to increased international regulation and control (dubbed “cooperation”).

There is no denying that the pace of attacks against our liberty has picked up speed. This has led to a growing number of fellow commentators on the constitutional Right sounding the alarm about imminent collapse of the dollar and the economy as the catalyst for unmasking martial law and the implementation of tyranny.

I continue to caution people against this superficial analysis, often fomented by government misinformation sources inside the movement feeding disinformation to promoters like Lindsay Williams and others. Pastor Williams may well be sincere in his desire to save the country, but he continues to be deceived by his “insider sources” who have fed him bad tips for the past two years. He’s got a 100% failure rate and yet persists with the same claims, slightly more intense each time around. I repeat for the benefit of my new subscribers that no one can be an insider feeding information to the liberty movement (they don’t want to get out) and not be discovered in this age of total surveillance. That includes the so-called “anonymous and confidential” government sources talking to mainstream “investigative” reporters. They are all known to government and every reporter’s phone is tapped constantly. When government takes reporters to court to force them to reveal their sources it is just a cover to keep the public believing in journalistic integrity.

We know what happens to real whistleblowers who reveal the illegal acts of government. They are exposed, maligned and persecuted incessantly. So any “leaker” who is allowed to keep leaking to those on our side every week or month is either not really an insider or is a disinformation expert being allowed to leak by government for manipulation purposes. Some, like the so-called “DHS insider” who talks to the Intel Hub regularly, are just patsies, in my opinion, that think they’ve been given insider access but who really are just being used to deliver disinformation to keep false conspiracies alive.

One of the main tactics of this disinformation about imminent threats is, I believe, to eventually discredit the prepper movement, 99% of which is motivated by these constant claims of imminent economic collapse. Most preppers have spouses or relatives that aren’t completely on board with their claims and consider them “paranoid” and “nuts.” Preppers who continue to regale them with the imminent collapse stories will find themselves embarrassed and increasingly unable to convince their friends and loved ones of even more serious preparations as the real threats get closer.

It isn’t that the economic collapse crowd is wrong about the dire state of our economy and the latest bubble the FED has created. It’s only that they don’t fully understand conspiracy and the larger agenda of the PTB who manipulate the economy. The conspirators have much more to gain by keeping things afloat with artificial stimulus than by letting it collapse. They control the regulatory powers as well and are able to cover up many Ponzi schemes, or at least keep them contained by denying that default ever occurs—as they did in the Greek bond haircuts forced upon investors.

With all of the fast moving events of the past year, you probably won’t be surprised that I am continually asked by subscribers if my estimate of timing has changed or moved up, especially in light of this year’s display of Chinese naval growth and aggressive behavior in the Far East. For the answer, we have to look at the potential for war, which is by far the most likely trigger for change in the world, even economic change.

A foreign attack allows our leaders to evade the blame for the dire situation and it gives them the excuse to take on dictatorial powers, restructure the money system and empower globalist solutions. In an economic collapse without war, they take the full blame, especially when all the FED watchers would know the day the PTB pulled the plug on the economy by cutting new monetary creation to zero. Ever since 2008, they have shown no inclination of pulling the plug on the economy or the dollar. It’s not a blameless rationale for martial law. They have also kept the real rate of inflation below 10%, and as long as they continue to do so, the hyperinflation threat bandied about so often won’t happen.

Here is my current feeling on the timing of war:

1. First, I have to continually remind my listeners that I’ve never given a timetable for when WWIII is going to start. I’ve concentrated on how much time I feel remains before Russia and China are ready to strike. They aren’t the same thing and don’t necessarily coincide. Even if I think they are ready, it still doesn’t mean they will strike. It could still take longer depending on the political climate at the time and whether or not an appropriate excuse has been engendered to justify war. As you all know, historically these excuses are almost always provoked by one side or the other.

2. I’ve said since the beginning of this decade that Russia and China are at least 8-10 years from having sufficient air, missile and naval forces to take on the West. We’re now 6-8 years away from that estimate where “we still have time to prepare.” I still feel confident that Russia and China won’t be ready until at least the beginning years of the next decade. In last week’s brief, I covered the fact that most of their major weapons systems aren’t scheduled to come on line until 2020-2024, so that’s still 8-10 years from now.

3. The following is very important: It is not true that Russia and China are totally unprepared until that magic time they reach optimal readiness. While it is improbable, there is nothing to say they won’t decide to strike earlier, at a lesser state of preparedness. No one is ever totally prepared for war—it’s a matter of high confidence in success, and also a matter of the right timing. As Russia and China get closer to full preparedness, the chance increases that they could grab a political opportunity to strike prior to their planned timetable if they thought they had a good enough opening—one that overcame the disadvantage of moving sooner rather than later. The US could also provoke a crisis that gave them an opportunity to strike that “they couldn’t resist.”

So, while I’m still fairly confident in my feeling that we still have several years to prepare, as we get closer to the next decade and they get closer to being ready, the chances of an early surprise attack increases as they approach full readiness. I don’t think the time will be much shorter but you need to be aware of the possibility. It’s one of the reasons why you don’t want to put off necessary preparations just because you might have more time than previously thought. Don’t try to cut it too close. With that said, let me outline some of the signs that war may be approaching sooner rather than later. I will be watching for these as well in the WAB.

First, it’s important to keep in mind that the mainstream media will increasingly concentrate on China as the problem, not Russia—even though they are both in a temporary alliance to take down the West. One will not go ahead without the other, but for some reason the word has gone out to planners to downplay the Russian threat.

I surmise that the reason Russia is being protected is that Russia provides the continual rationale for more disarmament. It is ironic (if not hypocritical) that the West will dramatize the Chinese threat more than the Russian threat but no overtures or expectations of disarmament will ever be made to China. The West has never even approached China with demands for a disarmament pact and doesn’t appear likely to do so in the future. –Not that China would ever entertain one.

The fact that the US keeps seeking disarmament pacts with the Russians in spite of continual missile manufacturing and cheating on all disarmament treaties is strong evidence that the US is trying to use disarmament to weaken our nuclear deterrence, NOT make the world safe from nuclear weapons. Evading any demands for the Chinese to disarm is even more evidence that the US overtures to Russia on disarmament have nothing to do with “making the world safe from nuclear weapons.”

So, when outlining the signs of war, keep in mind that there are two enemies and either one or both may be engaged in setting the stage for war. Both are already involved in significant and steady rearmament. That isn’t going to change, and they are starting early enough that the West won’t be able to detect a significant uptick in production later on as a sign of war.

Don’t look for Russia or China to necessarily engage in the normal massing of forces at some border as Hitler did. They will use a ballistic missile first strike with a preliminary EMP attack as a means of temporarily paralyzing US and NATO forces as the electrical grid gets taken down. This will be followed by nuclear strikes against ground targets. Once the US military is taken down they figure they can blackmail the rest of the West into submission and amass the necessary invasion/occupation forces while the West is struggling to reorganize after a nuclear strike.

Watch for these provocations that indicate war is getting nearer:

Russia: Russia will continue to contest any additional moves by former satellite states like Ukraine and Georgia moving to closer to EU integration. The latest move by Russia to bribe and threaten Ukraine from making a trade deal with the EU is, I believe, a permanent and hardened position. It won’t be reversed. Despite continued Ukrainian protests, the opposition is controlled and divided and will never be able to overthrow the pro-Moscow direction of the government. Democracy is only a sham in most of the post-Soviet states. Controlled parties on both the Left and Right keep marching inevitably toward more concessions toward Russian hegemony—especially in light of the grip Russia has on the flow of natural gas to Europe and Eastern Europe.

Remember too that the controlled opposition and continued protests also serve Russia’s purposes since she can use them when they turn violent to justify sending in Russian troops to “protect” the millions of ethnic Russians placed in each of these satellite states.

That said, I don’t expect Russia to start getting aggressive with the post-Soviet states until after the US signs another disarmament agreement with Russia. Expect feelers to be put out in 2014 for a typically one sided agreement to be signed before Obama leaves office. This is one of those things, like socialized medicine, that they do while Democrats are in the White House.

China: China has already started to increase provocations with the West in the disputed ADIZ air defense zone claimed by China in the East China Sea, as well as the Chinese naval harassment of US surveillance ships in the South China Sea in international waters. Expect those provocations to continue. China knows that by increasing the overall levels of East-West hostilities, it becomes increasingly difficult for the West to tell when China expects to go to war.

North Korea: Nothing is more telling about this tactic of “obscuration through hundreds of feints” than North Korea’s regular provocations and small military attacks on South Korea over the years. North Korea is China’s puppet state and is the one most likely to provide China and Russia with the trigger event they need for WWIII. As I have explained before, a sudden invasion/artillery attack by NK on South Korea almost guarantees a tactical nuclear response by the US since the North has such overwhelming forces just across the border from Seoul, the SK capitol. If the US uses tactical nukes to contain the onslaught, China could easily use this “first use” to launch it’s planned first strike on US military targets.

Threats against the South happen almost every month and vary in intensity. Just this week, as the UK Daily Mail reported, North Korea warned the West that “war could break out without notice” as Kim Jong-Un tells troops to get combat ready.

The warning came a day after reports that satellite images appeared to show North Korea has started producing fuel rods for its nuclear reactor. The U.S. and South Korea had been wary of possible threats from the North, where tensions have been high since the execution of Kim’s uncle and mentor. The latest saber rattling came as Kim visited his troops on Christmas Eve, according to Al Jazeera.

‘He instructed the unit to put utmost spurs on rounding off its combat readiness … always bearing in mind that a war breaks out without any prior notice,’ reports from state media said. Tens of thousands of troops pledged their loyalty to Kim last week at a parade to mark the anniversary of the death of his father, and former leader.

Satellite images seen by the Johns Hopkins University appeared to show facilities at the North’s scientific research center could be used to make fuel rods for the plutonium reactor. ‘The identification of these facilities indicates a more wide-ranging, extensive effort by North Korea to modernize and restart the Yongbyon complex dating back to 2009 than previously understood,’ the report said. North Korea’s reactor was put back into service earlier this year, after a six-year break.

North Korea’s nasty habit of threatening war and putting troops on alert is a regular occurrence, and so is NK’s breaking of agreements to limit its nuclear weapons productions. Taken in isolation, none of these minor provocations mean war is imminent. But what it does do—very effectively—is make it very hard to tell when they are serious about an attack.

One of the great dangers of NK saber rattling and keeping their enlisted and junior officers hyped up for war is that sometimes the trigger actually gets pulled, as it did when the NK artillery forces shelled Yeonpyeong Island in 2010, killing four South Koreans. They were lucky the US and SK are in such a permissive mood or there might have been a war.

New Russian Submarines Are So Silent That The U.S. Navy Calls Them “Black Holes”

Did you know that Russia is building submarines that are so quiet that the U.S. military cannot detect them? These “black hole” submarines can freely approach the coastlines of the United States without fear of being detected whenever they want. In fact, a “nuclear-powered attack submarine armed with long-range cruise missiles” sailed around in the Gulf of Mexico for several weeks without being detected back in 2012. And now Russia is launching a new class of subs that have “advanced stealth technology”. The U.S. Navy openly acknowledges that they cannot track these subs when they are submerged. That means that the Russians are able to sail right up to our coastlines and launch nukes whenever they want. But instead of trying to find a way to counteract this potential threat, the Obama administration has been working very hard to dismantle the U.S. strategic nuclear arsenal. In the end, we could potentially pay a great price for this utter foolishness.

A recent RT article discussed these new super silent “black hole” submarines. To say that they are impressive would be a massive understatement…

Russia has launched its new state-of-the-art Novorossiysk submarine, which set sail from a St Petersburg shipyard to become the first of six diesel-electric stealth subs delivered to the Russian Black Sea fleet in the next two years.

The Novorossiysk belongs to the Varshavyanka-class (Project 636), which is characterized by advanced stealth technology, making it virtually undetectable when submerged.

“Our potential opponents call it the ‘Black Hole’ due to the very low noise emission and visibility of the submarine,”Konstantin Tabachny, captain of the Novorossiysk, told Channel One TV. “To be undetectable is the main quality for a submarine. And this whole project really fits its purpose.”

Of course Russia has been building “near silent” submarines for quite some time. In fact, their nuclear submarines are already far quieter than anything the U.S. currently has…

Russia recently launched its near silent nuclear submarine following several years of development.

The Borey Class submarine, dubbed Vladimir Monomakh, has a next generation nuclear reactor, can dive deeper than 1,200 feet, and carries up to 20 nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM).

Each of these “Bulava” ICBM’s can carry ten detachableMIRV warheads, what they call “re-entry vehicles,” capable of delivering 150 kiloton yields per warhead

And as I mentioned above, these submarines have the ability to approach the coastlines of the United States without the U.S. military ever even knowing that they were there.

In addition, Russia has been working feverishly to upgrade other elements of their strategic arsenal as well. For example, it was recently announced that Russia will soon begin work on a new strategic bomber…

Russia will begin the full-scale R&D work on its future strategic bomber in 2014, a senior aircraft-manufacturing industry official said Thursday.

The project, known as PAK-DA (an acronym meaning “future long-range aircraft”), has been in the works for several years but was given the formal go-ahead by the Russian leadership last year.

The Russians are also working very hard to modernize their nuclear forces…

Sadly, most Americans have no idea that any of this is going on.

Most Americans just assume that “the Cold War is over” and that Russia will never be a threat to us ever again.

If only that was actually true.

Today, Russia is stronger both economically and militarily than it has ever been before.

And as you just read about, Russia is rapidly preparing for a potential future conflict with the United States.

If the Cold War truly is over, then why does Russia have more spies inside the U.S. today than it did at any point during the Cold War?

The American people need to wake up.

RUSSIAN MISSILE FORCES TO BE UPGRADED BY 2021

You will notice an almost total absence of coverage or concern for Russian military growth. It’s like it doesn’t exist in the US media, even when the Russians openly publish it in Russian sources. Here’s an example that should concern us all, as it confirms my estimates of timing relative to when Russia will be ready for a future strike on the West:

(RIA Novosti) – Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) will be fully equipped with fifth-generation missile systems by 2021, a Defense Ministry spokesman said Wednesday. The proportion of modern missiles in the RVSN will reach around 60 percent by 2016 and 98 percent by 2021, Col. Igor Yegorov said.

In addition to the fifth-generation Yars and Topol-M missiles, new command and control centers are being built and new communications, security and other systems put in place, he said. Russia’s missile forces are being modernized in a bid to enable them to penetrate the anti-missile defense systems being fielded by NATO and the United States, Russian officials have said previously.

And, unlike US systems which are purposefully encumbered by humans transmitting codes before launch, the Russians are automating theirs so that human factors won’t be able to block a nuclear launch once initiated:

Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces will use a new-generation automated command and control system from 2016, the Defense Ministry said Thursday. The new system, based on the digital transmission of operations orders bypassing intermediary levels straight to the launch pad, allows the prompt targeting and retargeting of missiles and ensures the effective command and control of all units and subunits, Defense Ministry spokesman Dmitry Andreyev said.

The fifth-generation system will use wire, radio and satellite communication channels that are well protected from jamming and other forms of interference, he added. The system is compact and reliable and boasts low energy consumption, secure information transmission and imperviousness to external impacts, the spokesman said.

Compare this rapidly increasing readiness with the static nuclear silo based defenses the US has, and which are vulnerable to both human errors and external attack. The US missile forces have received a lot of negative publicity of late due to the sacking of its top military commander for gambling and ethics charges. Now, a leak has revealed that a couple of missileer officers have been reassigned for leaving a blast security door open while one was asleep.

The following AP article talks about this technical violation of the rules and promotes some disinformation about the launch of US missiles:

— Air Force officers entrusted with the launch keys to long-range nuclear missiles have been caught twice this year leaving open a blast door that is intended to help prevent a terrorist or other intruder from entering their underground command post, Air Force officials said.

The blast doors are never to be left open if one of the crew members inside is asleep – as was the case in both these instances – out of concern for the trouble an intruder could cause, including the compromising of secret launch codes... The officers, known as missileers, are custodians of keys that could launch nuclear hell.

The last part is only partly true. The missileers have only half the launch codes. They must receive the other part from the “nuclear suitcase” which always accompanies the President. Without getting these launch codes from the president, no missiles can be launched. So this is hype about the silos being in danger of a terror attack.

In fact, even the blast door is not the door to the outside. An unauthorized intruder would have to get past other heavy duty steel doors and get down the secure-code elevator even to approach the blast doors. Entry to that elevator is controlled from an above-ground building where the officers initially enter and have their passes checked. All are secured with armed guards and cameras. All of this security before the blast door is what gives the watch officers some feeling of complacency about the need to keep this door closed if one is sleeping (allowable on a 24 hour shift).

What the article is talking about is the underground launch center, known as a capsule for its pill-like shape, buried in the ground. Each capsule operates 10 Minuteman-3 missiles (3 warheads per missile). The missiles are also underground in reinforced concrete silos with blast doors on top which open for launch.

The real weakness of our system is that we have fixed silos, easily and precisely targeted, while the Russians use mobile launchers which are always being moved around—very hard to find and hit. That is why the US must rely on “Launch on warning,” meaning that once Russian or Chinese missiles are detected by our satellites and on the way, all our missiles must be launched to avoid being hit by the first salvo of incoming warheads. No surface blast door covering the silos is going to withstand a full nuclear ground blast.

That is also why Clinton’s order (PDD-60) in 1997 to the missile forces to “not rely on Launch on Warning” but to “prepare to retaliate afterward” is suicide. This order is still secret and has never been made public, except in synopsis form by Arms Control Today, which helped draft the new nuclear policy.

Our missile forces are still on alert and they still think they are going to launch on warning, but their ability to do so depends on getting the codes from the president. All the globalist handlers of the president have to do to ensure we absorb a nuclear first strike is to not release the launch codes or create some pretense of technical difficulty.

Other evidence of Russia emerging from the phony “fall of the Soviet Union” is that she is starting to actively export military equipment to foreign clients: Space Daily.com reports from Baghdad (UPI):

As Iraq’s government grapples with a rising al-Qaida insurgency in which thousands have been killed, officials say the military has started taking delivery of Russian arms as part of a landmark $4.3 billion contract signed in October 2012… 30 of the all-weather Night Hunter helicopter gunships and 50 Pantsyr S-1 gun-missile short-range air-defense systems.

The 2012 contract marked Russia’s return to a major Middle Eastern market it had dominated during the Soviet era. During Saddam Hussein’s rule, that ended in April 2003, Moscow was Iraq’s main arms supplier.

THE RUSSIA THREAT CONTINUES TO GROW

The Russians have finally moved on from their formidable Topol M missiles and developed a new ballistic missile that has a faster boost phase to thwart the US anti-missile system being placed in Europe. Bill Gertz reports:

The new RS-26 missile will be equipped with three multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicles, or MIRVs. [Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicles]. What is new is that the warheads are [mounted on] SUPER-HIGH SPEED vehicles capable of maneuvering from missile interceptors.

A House defense aide said the new missile appears to violate the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, based on recent tests and Russian statements that it is designed to thwart U.S. defenses. The treaty bans missiles with ranges of between 310 and 3,400 miles

The maneuvering warheads are considered advanced technology that will increase the precision targeting of the missile system. The missile also reportedly will be equipped with a high-performance FUEL that BOOSTS acceleration shortly after launch, a feature useful for avoiding anti-missile interceptors. The Russians are advertising this as a system capable of defeating U.S. missile defenses in Europe.

At the same time, the STATE DEPARTMENT is accepting Russia’s claim that this is an ICBM and doesn’t violate INF. It can’t be both.

That is right. The Russians already pulled out of the INF treaty [Intermediate Nuclear Forces], so why does the US continue to pretend they are in compliance and need to be held to its promises? A missile capable of this much acceleration has to be small enough to be an intermediate missile only. Full-sized ballistic missiles for long range are much too large to have enough acceleration to avoid ABM interceptors.

Once again, we have to ask “How can the US continue to justify increased disarmament of warheads and launch vehicles in the face of this Russian violation of past treaties?” The answer can only be because the US wants this war, and has to keep disarming to help Russia so they have the confidence to finally strike.

Joining John B. Wells, Stewart Rhodes, founder and President of Oath Keepers, argued that there’s a relentless campaign going on to centralize power, militarize the police, and strip power out of the hands of average citizens. …

His organization, the Oath Keepers, works with military veterans, law enforcement, and first responders to remind them of their oaths to defend the Constitution, and not “just follow orders” that go against the people. Their mission also includes training these veterans and officers to become community leaders, to be able to step in during a crisis….

The real war going on is the elites versus the free people of the world, whom they seek to usher into a police state, Rhodes stated. The American people have to get back to their independence, starting with self-sufficiency and food reserves, yet the survivalist approach of working in isolation isn’t going to work, he commented. We have to think in terms of community, he said, such as a local VFW forming its own battalion.

Syria & Geopolitics

First hour guest, political scientist Joel Skousen provided insights on world affairs such as the situation in Syria. He doubted that Assad was behind the chemical attacks on Syrian civilians. The US and Israel have been looking for a way to justify an attack on Iran, and they hope by attacking Syria, Iran may support Assad with a retaliation, which would open the door for a war with them, Skousen posited. The US wants to target Iran not only to curtail their nuclear weapons development but to cut them off as an oil supplier to China, he continued, adding that he foresees an eventual war between the US and Russia & China.
